Pathetic service.
I recently bought a Penguin, on the way to pick it up I received a phone call to say it had been recalled due to a safety issue with the roof winding mechanism. The Jayco agent have had the Penguin for two weeks and still Jayco cannot supply them with parts for the upgrade. The agents have been great keeping us updated but there is little they can do other than wait for Jayco to get their act together. With somewhere around 1300 CTs being recalled I'm not expecting to be able to pick up the camper anytime soon, really annoying. I got a...Read more
bank cheque and took out insurance on the morning I went to pick it up, still haven't paid for it and my insurance is just going to waste. Jayco can't even say how long this will take, absolutely pathetic way of doing business1 comment

Progress from camper to pop top
I have tented and camper trailered and the pop top is the next step.
Purchased 6 months ago flamingo outback 2011 model.
Like new. Easy to trailer, easy to set up, comfortable and it does everything we want.
My current model bt50 pulls it easily.
No complaints.

As Advertised
We purchased our Swift in 2014. We have been away in it quite a few times on 2 or 3 night stays and have enjoyed every trip. Once set up with the beds extended, there is more than enough room for two to live comfortably.
Because the Swift is relatively light weight and has a low profile when ready for travel, our small 4WD car handles the towing job easily. Being older people (closer to 60 than to 21) we were concerned that setting up and packing away may prove difficult. Fortunately, we have found that if we take our time and stick to a logical sequence it all gets done without drama. We have found our little van to be a fun and comfortable way to enjoy the outdoors.

Great camper despite some reviews
I feel some people on here just want to have a dig. There are some reviews where people had 2 small problems and a couple scratches and they give it a 1 star review. Go back to your selling dealer and get it fixed, they will all help you out.
The after sales service is great. Like everywhere these days you strike sometimes someone less helpful but never bad. This is a leisure item, enjoy it!!! Don't get hung up on little issues. Maybe you need to think a bit more about what you are writing before you write it because maybe it's not the product...Read more

Great value for money and very comfortable
We purchased our Jayco Swan Outback (with just about all the extras) in March 2016 and my wife, 2 kids and myself spent the next week in it testing it out.
It showered most nights with no leaks, which was a relief because water leaks were one of my biggest fears.
The bench top above the fridge got quite hot which was/is a bit of a concern, but Jayco Mackay have since installed some insulation under the bench top which has reduced the heat some what. I may have to possibly look into a fan to get some air circulating?
There were a couple of...Read more

There are better campers out there
Camper has the ability to be good value but the workmanship on the van and the aftersales service is terrible.
Such as missing items, scratches on new bench, super glue used to glue down screw caps and chipped melamine, a poorly fitted weather strip that caused a leak on the first camping trip. A poorly wired 12 pin plug that caused a short and flattened both the starter battery in the car and the van battery and a company that won't return a phone call or offer to make things right, once they have your money it's too bad, so sad!

2012 outback camper van update
In 2014 we purchased our 2012 Jayco Eagle outback as second owners from a family in Blackwater. This is my second part to a review I've written previously. We used it on several occasions for weekends with family, before we took it on our big trip to Western Australia. We fitted 160 watts of solar panels to the roof in anticipation of free camping along the way. We also fitted a Stone Stomper, a great device recommended to us by experienced off road camper friends, which attaches to the car and the van as a method of preventing stone damage to ...Read more
the van and to prevent the back window of the car from rocks ricocheting from the van to the car window. Our van was packed with supplies and comforts including 2 x 75 litre tanks filled with water in preparation for all contingencies as we left Brisbane in August for Charleville, the next day to Ilfracombe/Longreach. One of the van brakes had been squeaking, so we pulled wheels off to find the problem and found grease from the bearing had leaked and ended up between the magnet and the drum which caused friction. Everything now working fine we headed for Boulia, the last sealed road we would see for a while. We were surprised to see ongoing sections of bitumen being laid just out of Boulia. The Donohue Hwy was in pretty good but amazingly dusty in parts, which brought us our next problem DUST. We were surprised to see so much dust had made its way between the front roof seal and covered the bed and lounge. We had dust through the boot and vents, a bit of a nightmare. We used plastic garbage bags to weave through the bed, lounge and roof seal to try and control some of the dust, with good results. We could not close the roof to make the roof and body seal any better no matter what we did. The Plenty was a little rougher but still the van towed well. When we arrived in Alice Springs we visited the local Bunnings to buy new Velcro to replace the Velcro on the top half of the door. We also bought several types of sealing products to try to control the dust. It's amazing where it finds its way in. After a couple of days exploring and enjoying Uluru and visiting the Olgas we once again left sealed roads for more dirt and headed for Docker River, this section of road is the worst highway we have ever experienced, worse than the old Nullarbor when it was at its worst before it was sealed, and still the van held up well, things got shaken around pretty well. The smoothest part of the road was to have one wheel travel in the water table and one on the gravel mound, slow going, then once we hit the West Australian border it was like entering another country, well formed dirt road better than some bitumen roads we've traveled. We finally made it to Perth without any problems, we didn't even lose screws, our cutlery draw is loose from all the shaking and bouncing but is an easy fix. We noticed that the rear roof corners have started to crack, something we will have to look at but not a major concern at this stage. Our trip back to Brisbane was on sealed roads all the way and without mishap. After all this van went through with rough dusty roads and to come out with only dust as an issue, I would recommend this van to anyone very happy just wish I could sort out the dust issue and I'm sure we will with a little more effort and crawling around, before we go on anymore unsealed road!Similar opinion? You would be better off with a Chinese product
We bought our Swan Outback new in July 2015. It has done more trips to the repair shop then camping trips.
To say the build quality is appalling would be an under statement. On 1st use the front bed roller collapsed into the body somewhere, the front boot flew open due to striker plate being fitted in completely wrong position. Waste hose for sink was kinked due to poor fitting. Then when it got dark we had no lights. This was caused by poor crimp connections in roof safety switch. The speakers for sound system were incorrectly wired so when y...Read more

outback swan with kakadu annex and aircon. Extremely happy use it 3 out of 4 school hols 5 weeks a year. Only problem encountered is door not closing correctly it appears to be because of annex maybe? While the finish is not flash it was expected and we have used it in horrendous weather and remained dry. We added matress toppers and roof closes no problems. I watched the you tube video of the set up with annex and it was extremely useful. Problems with bedends over tightening has been rectified. Can set it up in just over 60 mins by myself. Thoroughly recommended. Would buy another.

Jayco swift - home and away
Perfect for two people. Sleep on the double side or one side each. If sleeping on the double side, use other side for luggage etc. ours does not have an annex. Has a awning. Has jayco flys. Jayco fly middle pole can be difficult to attach. I believe this is a flaw in this particular design.

Fantastic value for money
We are just about to sell our Jayco Dove Outback 2010. We have used it for a couple of big road trips from Tassie to the Simpson and then up to Byron Bay with 2 teenagers, 2 adults and lots of gear and also on numerous camping trips in Tasie. Nothing but praise for these "Built To A Price Campers" Yes they suffer from some cheap plastic parts and some inferior materials but for what you pay the whole system works very well and the resale price is good. We love our camping here in tAssie and the Dove works perfectly for us, my only wish is that...Read more
we bought one 15 years ago when the kids where younger. it's a home away from from home, has great beds and I love looking out the window at the campfire after I go to bed? Bonnydoone on wheels! If you don't like tinkering and improving things, or you want perfection but don't want to pay the price for it then don't buy one. Happy camping!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

2015 Swan Outback
Besides some niggly little issues, this camper has been terrific. I have been camping in tents since I was a small child and I can't remember ever getting a really good nights sleep but my sleep has been terrific in the Swan. We have 3 young children so you have to really plan where things are kept and what you bring but it is great that everything has its place and there is a place for everything. We have a TV with DVD player and we swore that we would not let the kids watch TV whilst camping but when you need 30 minutes or an hour to get some...Read more
thing done, the TV is a blessing. One recent trip there was a major storm blowing outside but we felt very safe and secure inside our van and were able to make a cup of tea whilst the kids enjoyed a movie and then because the storm was still blowing during dinner time, we were able to make dinner on the stove and serve it up on the dinette table without a trouble in the world. I am 6 foot 1 inch and when I lay flat on my back, my feet touch the canvas walls of the bed ends so it might be an issue for anyone taller than me if you sleep on your back. Before we made our purchase we were a little worried as we read some very negative reviews but we talked to a lot of people who own Jayco vans and camper trailers and they were very happy so we plunged ahead with the purchase. If you let the little niggles bother you then it probably won't matter what you get as just about every new camper is going to have some little issues to sort out. There is the occasional unfortunate person who ends up getting a van with a build fault but based on all of our discussions with people with Jayco's, I think they are few and far between and we can be thankful that we weren't one of the unlucky few. We are very happy with our purchase, our kids love it and so do we. I am already building my own pole and annex wall storage box to sit under the front boot of the Swan which will give us even more room to pack things so we couldn't be happier.Similar opinion? Roof replacement on 2004 Flamingo
Insurance job after damage to roof from tree branch. Roof was replaced by insurer (CIL great to do business with) with a later model fibre glass type. After only a little over 12 months back on he road and three trips the roof looks like it has shrunk and kinked for around 600mm at the top of the end frame board on the curve on front and back. Also notable dish in roof for full length.
Also the roof vent plastic surround has deformed quite a bit necessitating the mesh screen be screwed to the frame to secure in place.
Now we are on the...Read more
trail of getting it replaced under warranty. Very poor quality for what we thought was a great replacement of the two piece alloy roof with the join down the middle. After this being the 3rd Jayco camper over the last 30 years it will no doubt be the last!! UPDATE ! ! New roof ordered from Jayco 7/8/15 and to this date 14/9/15 Jayco cannot tell repairer where the roof is on the assembly line!! One trip already cancelled due this.Similar opinion? Hasty Decision
It is comfortable and spacious with most of the features you would expect. The finish and the quality of some of the latches and accessories is average. Setting up and packing up is more time consuming than I expected. Can be difficult getting the roof down if you don't push the canvas in carefully when you are lowering the roof.
I purchased it with promises of exceptional after-sale service and a great warranty. Drove off to Central Australia for the first trip.
The water drain pipe from the sink was kinked so the water would not flow o...Read more
ut. I pushed a small piece of UPVC plastic pipe over the hose to fix it thanks to the help of the Mitre 10 people in Renmark. Being totally new to this I did not realise I needed towing mirrors. No advice from the dealer. I purchased a set in Alice Springs. Up until this point, I was relying on the shadows that appeared on my car mirrors to identify vehicles that were behind me. At Kings Canyon, one of the trailer breaks failed. I drove without trailer breaks to Alice Springs. Contacted the dealer who informed me that the list of service agents was with the handbook which it wasn't. They told me to ring them up at any time if I had the slightest problem or query and when I did so they fobbed me off. I rang the roadside assist number and it took them 2 hours to find someone who would fix it. The repair place said they were no longer Jayco service agents however they did look at it. $250 which I had to pay. After 2 hours, I picked it up and drove 1m when the break locked up. After about another 2 hours, they replaced the break magnet and it worked. The repairer also claimed there was no grease in the wheel bearings and the break magnet had been incorrectly installed. The dealer did refund me the $250.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Perfect for our needs
We have been on the road for 10 weeks in our 2015 Outback. The main requirement for me was strength and suspension. The Jtech suspension is simply miles ahead of the competition. We have been to the tip of Cape York and back on unbelievable corrugations, water crossing over the bonnet of the car and sections of the old telegraph track.she has gone where trailor- tent set ups would be wary. My wife and I both snore so the double and queen pull out beds are perfect.the all terrain tyres are great so long as you adjust pressure to circumstances ...Read more
. Things that went wrong and right. 3 way fridge great just don' think of running it on the vans battery- flat in 3 hours. All gas appliances worked fine. Now for the negatives. The manual is totally inadequate. The light insert is just behind the sink and water splashes in to the socket- needs to be relocated. The beds need two people to pull out, needs smoother rollers. The door latch is plastic and ours broke off - should be metal A lot of dust gets inside the van- better dust sealing all round is required. For some reason the BBQ gas socket is under the van. You need to crawl under on your back. It"s also requires abnormal upward pressre to lock on socket.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Love my Jayco Swift
I purchased this Camper trailer (Jayco 2015 model) as new. I was originally looking at a hard floor camper trailer/tents but came across this super little Jayco Swift camper trailer. It's small but once the bed ends are folded out it's huge for two people and has everything you could possibly need. Heaps of storage, power outlets, fridge, comfy beds (inner sprung mattress needed a topper still) and had extra options installed such as an Arial, battery as well as a coast to coast battery/water level gauge. This isn't camping - it's Glamping!!! ...Read more
It's so quick easy to setup and packup - none of these 2 hour setups. The after service has been excellent as well - Jayco - Page Bros Seaford & Prestige Jayco in Geelong have been great. This little van is the best investment - it's a holiday house on wheels, which is easy to store store, tow and setup. Not bad for the price when it's not a $70,000 caravan, there will be little teething problems probably, but they should all be covered by warranty. This van is perfect for 2 adults and 2 kids.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Jayco Dove Outback 2013
Atrocious buiild quality. Bought ours 18mths old and hardly used. Even had bed ends still originally folded and double mattress still in plastic cover. Immediately had issues with door popping open whilst sleeping, rivets in door hinge broken and falling out, velcro pulling off door both sides. WInding up has a huge clunk noise when winding up (expecting some further issues there). Had it for about 6mths going to get rid of the problem and sell it. Will not buy another Jayco - No way.

We are very pleased with our Swift. It's easy and light to tow. Plenty of room inside. We will probably buy an awning to save mud coming inside. In general we are pleased with our buy.

Jayco hawk outback 2013
Just purchased a outback hawk 2013, what a great camper, very happy with this camper as its the 4 th ive owned now and very happy with all of them, have done a few modifications just to suit myself and madecsome additions, no issues with the van but i few small things like the charging system for the battery would do better with something like a ctek charger, a fridge fan just to help the 3 way fridge cope on hot days, and the 3 way lowboy pump taps are crap( not a jayco product) find a better replacement for these and basically you have a magic...Read more

Jayco Outback Swan 2014
First time buyer of a van.
Bought new Jayco.
Poor sales advice on tow ball weights. So car upgrade necessary after taking camper from shop. Actually drove from shop unaware I was illegally over weight on the tow ball.
Ok upgrade car..
Using the camper, it's ok in layout. Note plywood is flimsy under seats with hinges popping out (all rivets). need to replace all with bolts and washers. The door pops open several times a night due to flex in the frame with the beds pulled out. Roll over in bed and the door springs open, it's infuriating. Bee...Read more

g the canvas baggy. All went well for the first day, but on the second day the gas stove refused to work so we switched to the electric hot plate but that didn't work either. Checked all the gas lines and taps and found the gas was not getting passed the gauge. Dealer told us to hold the gauge in for a few seconds then release, wrong. Proper way is to pump it several times, we did and the stove worked fine, even the electric hot plate, very curious. For our second trip I was winding the roof up to pack and one of the cables snapped, not bad since this had supposedly just been fixed. To it the dealers and picked it up a few days later. I removed the inspection covers and had a look at the repairs. The snapped cable was replaced with a frayed cable so once again back to the dealer. A week later picked it up and received a long list of parts they had replaced, parts that should have been replaced in the first place. I wrote two letters to Jayco HQ with my concerns and although they couldn't bring themselves to answer my letters they did pass on my concerns to the dealer and instructed them to provide warranty repairs even though the Penguin was no longer under warranty. Jayco HQ also advised the dealer to pick the camper up as i demanded in my second letter. There are a lot of bad reports on the later model Jayco CTs, but most complaints seem to be aimed at the dealers: lackadaisical attitudes, poor service, woeful repairs and so on. I inspected the second lot of repairs and found the roof was 25mm lower at the back than the front, the dealer said this was withing limits - pretty slack limits, I got it to within 3 mm. Another problem I had to deal with was the canvas around the door frame was so taut it was tearing the plastic strip that anchors the canvas. Obviously poorly cut canvas. I fixed the problem by re-attaching the top section of the door 10mm higher on the roof extrusions which resulted in the roof being lowered 10mm thus removing the strain from the canvas, pretty shoddy workmanship here. Unfortunately, now I have inspected the roof raising mechanisms twice on the camper, I really don't have a lot of confidence in it, very poorly designed. I'd be lying if I said I was happy or confident with Jayco's products. My next trip will result in a little trepidation me thinks.
