DISAPOINTED JAYCO PURCHASER
We bought the new 2022 jayco -journey/outback at the camping show in Bendigo, we picked the van up a few weeks later after having a few minor repairs and a detail,, including a very noticable hole in bottom corner of the vinyl when the pop-top is up.
our first trip ( 4 days ) it rained for a few hours and my matress, doona and pillow were so wet as if a bucket of water had been tipped on it, we could see a stream of water coming in. we took it back to the dealer in Bendido/Epsom that told me they could not find a leak, so i got the van home p...Read more

Had it for 9 months
Jaycee Journey DX Outback, bought it new, tows well, nice looking van,,nice design shame it was put together by Richards Craniums,,,nothing was as it should have been,,,repairs under warranty took for ever,,,dripping shower washer replacement took 4 weeks = that over filled the cup of unhappiness, sold it at a loss after 9 months, bought 14 yrs old Future System caravan no problems at all.
Purchased in March 2021.

Not one for unsealed roads
Purchased brand new Journey DX Outback only to take it on gazetted unsealed roads and lots of damage. We were not off road and drove to conditions with reduced tyre pressure. Shower door fell off marking cubicle and hole in flooring, all drawers dropped and hinges. Inside is fitted out as normal caravan. No additional measures taken to make inside suitable for unsealed roads. Great looking van but be prepared to spend time reinforcing it to suit conditions. Lots more damage to list but hoping all fixed under warranty.

Love it
It is a great van and easy to toe and get into tight places, We love it and have had no problems with it to speak of. Have had it on gravel road and it stands up well

Very good van, tows great
Very stable with passing trucks and not affected by wind. Van tows great and brakes well once you have the brake controller set up correctly. Pop top comes down with movement and needs to be checked each time it’s lowered. Small issues with QC but acceptable. Very comfortable and well laid out. Everything works and there is a big improvement in quality control. Very happy with our new van.

One year and van has been excellent. Would gladly give 5 stars now. Had some great trips to some interesting and challenging places. Highly recommend the Journey Outback DX 17ft.

Multi issues and more each time we take it away for a holiday. Just continual Stress
Our First Journey Poptop was returned to Manufacturer as back wall delaminated.
Had to wait months for New one to be made.
Assured by Jayco Australia that new Journey Poptop would receive extra Quality Control.
Nearly 50 problems/concerns so far and each trip planning involves, what will we do or where can we get it fixed.
Jayco Dealers are sometimes booked out a long time ahead, so repairs from Jayco Owner travelling are not important.
Second Journey had misaligned poptop, Mismatched benchtop, Sealant not adhering, Replace Rear Axle (Told...Read more

A heap of junk
70 problems over the last 2 years, It has been back to jaycos factory 3 times for rebuilds. Now the mess they have made of it the last time it was there. The workmanship is nothing short of appalling. No quality control at all. You would think they would have learnt by there mistakes by now. Trying to get a new one out of them at on cost.

First van no worries .
We found the van to be well built even though mass produced, few little problems but our dealer at Orange NSW was great. Considering it's not the off road model and we have taken it to Birdsville twice we have gotten away reasonably unscathed. Only problem has been the fridge died, seems to have degassed itself

Well we just love it!
After 12 months very happy with van and would recommend.
Tows very well remains stable in crosswinds passing trucks and braking.
Absolutely no problems great van.
Although originally sceptical of bolster bed turns out very comfortable and gives more space.
Roof weight is not a problem at all just try before you buy find easier to pop up from ensuite end.
Would recommend outback for extras alone batt solar ex. Gas etc.
2000 watt generator fits in front storage bin (not for a/C).
Van looks easily repairable if needed with standard pipe an...Read more

Issue with cupboard handles and roof alignment
This is my first van very happy with it tows great has the room we need except the handles on the cupboards they are plastic and fall apart why did they change from the push ones to the plastic pull ones. Roof doesn't line up properly when lowered cant latch on drivers side without physically pushing it over

Roof
Roof lifting very heavy all jayco journeys should be recalled and fix the problem. Airconditioning on roof to heavy makes roof come down out of alignment and cant latch down roof.

Mostly happy, but dissappointed due to roof problems
Overall 70% satisfied but quality of workmanship in some areas disappoints. Roof is way too heavy for old style lifter system in use. Needs are radical re-think and/or re-engineering and strengthening of lifter bars. Roof comes down out of alignment making it hard to latch roof on drivers side of van. Keeping awning loose etc does not improve situation. Van tows well, like ensuite, single beds very comfortable, lighting very good, fridge and A/C both work well. Cabinet quality just OK, clearly not a lot of pride in workmanship. Does lack internal storage space. No pull out pantry although this was a great feature on our Freedom van. Would I buy another Jayco? Probably but steer clear of pop-tops.

Very very disappointed
Leaked in first rain, causing paintwork inside to bubble, was fixed and has done it again. Cupboard clips not working cupboards fall open during travel. Overhead cupboard broke away from wall. Solar panel controller failed. Blind refuses to come up. Window starring at screw point. Cupboard doors not aligned. Outside shower trickles only no pressure at all. Very unhappy customer here !!

Great to tow!
Few teething problems with lights now fine. Very good to tow doesn't sway. Inside very well set out toilet & shower excellent. Aur conditioner bit heavy on roof to lift compared to discovery model but works very effectively. Comfortable inside .

Built to a price but a dam good van for the money
We finished a12000km run from Perth to Birdsvillle, to Melbourne, Tassy and home. A lot of the travel was on dirt, muddy and rough roads and sealed roads that were worse than unsealed. Guess what?, the van went like a dream. Sure there were small issues, but none not fixable on the road, cabinet screws coming undone, small water ingress through a window seal in torrentional rain. This van held up as well as vans costing three times as much.
The finish of this Jayco Outback was as good as, if not better than other vans I have owned. Sure it wa...Read more

Extremely Dissappointing.
No grease in Wheel Bearings(8). Non return Valve in scheme water incorrectly installed. Electrical terminals not crimped(squashed with pliers) Interior cabinetry very poorly installed; many cabinet components failed including the overhead cabinet which became detached. Yes these are being addressed under warranty, but why so poor workmanship? Lift your game Jayco. Not Happy

UPDATE ON THE ABOVE REVIEW----
the van, to be more precise, at the ends of the zips where there is a lot of stitching of cotton. to save us a 2 hour drive again back to bendigo i phoned and spoke to the service person who said to put some wax over that area, at 64 years old i decided to call a Jayco dealer/ repair in cambellfield (melb ), the girl took my number and said he would call back soon, 2 days later and im still waiting. i decided to get my ladder and some-how managed to reach and put wax into these areas. im waiting for more rain to come to see if it is fixed. if youre thinking why not use the hose, its because if not done carefully some water may come through the small air vents at the very top. FINGERS CROSSED. OVERALL THE JAYCO JOURNEY/OUTBACK is reasonable value for money but they could do better hiring a QUALITY CONTROLL PERSON that takes pride in the job they do and not be pressured into getting the vans through / out of the factory. We had some more rain over the last few days and with help from my wife, most of the leaks seem to be at or around the window flaps that you unzip to let fresh air into ...
