Great car
Driving this car is always nice it’s quiet, smooth, handles well and looks good to. Only problem I have had with this car is the leather. We have always looked after this car and the leather has torn on the drivers seat and is starting to go on the arm rest. We have spoke to someone from
Jeep and they said it’s not there fault..

I own 2 of these jeeps
I love my Jeeps, i have a 2005 grand Jeep limited with 285000kms on the clock (now the wifes car) & a 2007 185000kms both 5.7L with MDS, never taken them to a dealer (they don't have a clue) always serviced both cars myself, excellent paint work, super powerful, extremely quite, very comfortable, leather interior, i tow my 22ft caravan with ease for under 20l per 100klms .very cheap parts out of the states. The cylinder shutdown means i get about 15L per 100klm around town. Alot of car for a reasonable price.

Worthy of a look
The WH Grand Cherokee has left me scratching my head on a few occasions. I have owned several Jeep's over the years including a WG Grand Cherokee. The WH (or WK1) was a complete re-design based on the Mercedes Benz ML370? (I think) regardless it was born out of the brief Benz ownership or Chrysler. In doing so, I think they cut some corners. I have a 4.7l laredo, and the specs seem to be down on the previous model such as no steering wheel stereo controls and the bonnet release is on the passenger side. The seats also aren't as comfortable as t...Read more
he previous model (but still better than most other 4x4 wagons) The WH is fairly thirsty gulping down around 15l/100k and doesn't seem to matter of your on the freeway or around town. Range is around 450k out of 65litres. Apparently the tank is 73 but it's indicating well empty when I get 65litres in it. The WH is a very quiet car to drive, even quieter than most sedans out there. It gets along pretty well and has enough power, but don't expect it to have as much poke as an SS Commodore or Falcon XR8. The gearbox seems somewhat intuitive, and you have to teach it when to shift. All this seems to be forgotten once the battery is disconnected. It's a fairly easy car to work on. I've had no issues with the car, and the only time it has let me down was when the battery in the remote leaked and killed the chip...lucky I had a spare. Main item to look out for is worn front diff bushes. This will be heard as clunking over rough roads or jerking of the car when moving the transmission in and out of park. These can be difficult to change and I'd expect somewhere around 6hours minimum in labor. I changed mine myself. Hot tips are when going off road use low range and select gears with the tiptronic to prevent gearbox overheating from hunting gears. The auto is very reliable given periodic oil changes and flushes. I had my auto flushed and it made a world of difference. I love the sound of my car but should have bought the diesel. This model is limited in aftermarket accessories but seems to have the best rep of jgc's. The 3.7l V6 is the least reliable of the engine options, and the 5.7 hemi's fuel consumption is around the same as the 4.7l. Unfortunately, Jeep dealers have a bad reputation in Aus. If you do need to get work done, get a quote for parts first then check eBay for price.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

From budget power to a full-blown lemon.
After owning a 1997 3.4L V6 Prado for a few years, I decided I wanted an upgrade, but still wanted to retain off-road ability paired with on-road power. So I bought a Jeep. I opted for a 2005 Grand Cherokee Limited with the 5.7L V8 Hemi. At first it seemed to be a bargain for what I had found, a V8 SUV with e-locking differentials and 240kW/500Nm stock for under $10K. Unfortunately, over the short time I owned it, the car spent a huge amount of time at the dealer/mechanic for an uncountable amount of things, ranging from a new steering rack/whe...Read more
el speed sensors/power steering pump/wheel sensors/constant transmission issues etc. I put in the effort at the start by installing custom extractors and exhaust, CAI and a custom tune, but by the end I realised it just wasn't worth it and regrettably it was the biggest flop of a car I've ever driven. My trips to and from work were constantly hampered with an overheating transmission, which was diagnosed to be a faulty sensor withing the transmission which would have cost over $3K to replace. If the wheel sensors are not replaced with official Mopar parts, there will be a constant error on the EVIC, paired with 3 error codes when hooked up to a diagnostic tool. To its credit, the Jeep was great off-road and bettered nearly every 4X4 it went up against, both in the wet and dry. The power was great for a 2 tonne SUV, paired with the noise of the Hemi, it made for a brilliant combination for fun on the weekend. But it was, truly and utterly a lemon. There is nothing that could make up for the rage felt when four or five things were going wrong at once at you could only feel either helpless and/or miserable knowing that it would be back in the shop within the week with the knowledge that it was only the tip of the iceberg and you could be looking at thousands of dollars to keep it running just to the shops and back. In a sentence, avoid this car like the plague. You have been warnedSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Terrific Vehicle for What I purchased It For
I purchased the 3.0 CRD Laredo basically to tow my 24 ft 3.1 Tonne Jayco Caravan. Boy it does that with ease and with a very pleasing fuel economy of app 16.4 lt/100, This figure was achieved on two long trips, one of 9,400 klms from Brisbane to Broken Hill, Silverton then around The Flinders Ranges in South Australia, The Eyre Peninsular, Adelaide, then the Great Ocean Rd to Melbourne, Ballarat, Eucheca, Albury, Gundagi
Then through Young and back roads to Bathurst. Actually did a lap of Mt Panorama towing the Van around the circuit. Then ba...Read more

Purchased a 2010 wh jeep grand cherokee laredo 3.0 CRD with 156000 klms from a melb jeep dealer on short notice due to the breakdown of the intended tow vehicle. Only had for 3 days prior to connecting the caravan and heading off for 6 weeks to central australia. Covered 9500 klms in 6 weeks jeep never missed a beat and used 13.2 litres per 100 klms towing a 1800 kg poptop van. to gearbox service and filter, new fuel filter and air filter, transfer case service, both diffs flushed and oil change, full vehicle check, new wipers and cost was under $800.Try to get all that done on a toyota 4WD for that cost.My first ever jeep purchase and could not be more satisfied with it as a solid high spec ( rated to 3500kg towing ) no fuss tow vehicle. As a daily drive around outer melb suburbs early figures show around 9.2 to 9.8 lit per 100 klm which is very good.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

It's cheap but you get what you pay for.
My second jeep and while the 2005 WH is an improvement over the old WJ it isn't on par with the competition. On the bright side a limited 5.7 V8 comes with 3.5 tonne towing, reasonable overtaking power, and some nice touches such as leather heated seats, rain sensing wipers, parking sensors, duel climate control and a few other nice toys that make things seem rather civilised and you won't find these on other cars at this price.
On the down side the car is made by jeep, expect poor finish on the paint and interior, things rattle, clunk and ...Read more
bang about meaning a noisy trip. Parts can be picked up cheap with shipping from American E-bay but you will need to make use of this fact, power windows fail, small interior components often fall off and expect more serious issues on occasion. The real downside of this car is the ride quality, its quite simply inexcusable, bouncing wobbling, rocking and rolling at any slight bump or undulation in the road mean not only the passengers but the driver will need to stop often to battle the bouts of jeep induced nausea. Overall, for a cheap, well equipped and powerful tow car the WH gran cherokee will do that job but if you can afford something else then avoiding the pains of a jeep owners life is recommended.Similar opinion? Great value but a few design flaws
Considering all the features included, a Jeep Grand Cherokee is great value for money compare with other 4WD in its class. The ride in the front seats is very comfortable. It's a very capable vehicle for towing and so far (105,000km) it's pretty reliable. A few things that are not so great are: the back seat is incredibly cramped and uncomfortable for adults. There is more room in my Mum's Mazda 3. The boot is smaller than comparable cars. ortune or try to rip you off is very difficult. If you are in Sydney, I recommend the dealership at Chullora. I wouldn't recommend: Five Dock, Burwood, Chatswood, Parramatta. A few small things have gone wrong ( key failure twice, once under warranty, second time $660 if you do it through Jeep, oil pressure sensor failure, parking sensor failure and unbelievably the two windscreen washer nozzles disintegrated (extortionately priced at $35 each from Jeep, plus fitting, but you can do it yourself). The automatic gearbox on this car is very clunky, and the baffles in the fuel tank make a clunking noise too. According to Jeep, these things are normal so they won't fix them. The GPS is HOPELESS. You can almost guarantee it will send you int e wrong direction. It thinks our house is 400m down the road, and would have sent us on a 300km detour on a country drive in SA. Streets built decades ago don't exist.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I bought a Jeep and freaking love it
great powerful diesel merc engine - tows 3.5tonne easily. Probably would like better brakes on it for heavy braking. Lovely comfortable car 167k on it so far and no problems.
Running costs averaging 11.3ltres to the 100kms. Haven't had to spend anything on it other than the standard services. Chose this over the price of a landcruiser and at this stage still very happy. Best thing is all the interior comforts and powerful engine.

Funny that the best thing that happened to Chrysler was Daimler and now they are split apart ??? I love this car and cannot rate it highly enough just drive off the car lot and enjoy. Superb for towing up to 3.5te without any drama. This is my 3rd Grand and i truly rate this CRD better than the 5.7 Hemi i had last. th all the history and check that all the TSB recalls have been done then you should be OK. This car puts the Nissan and Toyota brigade to shame...guess what, just because they are "easier" to fix in the bush does not make them better. I happen to think my JGC is more reliable than that and it does not bother me when i go travelling. Chip it and get 650Nm under your foot and leave the Landy's and Nissans (and the Commodores.!) in your mirrors. Parts down under are a rip-off but isn't buying anything here? Power, engine, tranny, economy, looks, reliable, hugely more capable off-road than you think Few aftermarket accessories, poor wheel/tyre combo, limited space for dual battsSimilar opinion? Grand Cherokee Overland Limited Edition Petrol 5.6L 2010 - Great car!
We have a Grand Cherokee Overland Limited Edition Petrol 5.6L 2010. It is a great car, but also a great tuck (3.5t). A good looking work horse or stylish car... Whatever you like it to be. Petrol consumption is 9 to 11L on the highway, other is depending on terrain and weather. Quiet motor, you don't hear it at all. It takes on sand dunes and rocky roads very easily. This car in my opinion is the best you can buy compared to other cars in that price category. Tows a 3t caravan very easily. Luxury comes with this model like heated seats, sunroof, changing chair height, lots of software that tells you nearly anything you like to know about its health.
It really deserves the 5 stars.

I have a 2006 Grand Cherokee Limited with the 5.7 Hemi V8 love the car 200,000ks of pleasure .
I'm off to buy another Jeep GC after having a 5.7 hemi which in 200,000ks the only problem I've had was the radiator needed replacing at 160,000ks (had a small leak) otherwise I've loved it. After test driving the diesel with even more torque than the V8 Hemi I'm off to buy one.

Great towing vehicle (2 1/2 ton caravan), but several owners are mentioning increased water temps when going up prolonged inclines. This is being referred to a higher authority. 2 services so far with no dramas. Any warranty work carried out. Turbo diesel powerful without high fuel usage. Great vehicle.

Great But..
Great value 4x4 let down by appalling lack of common spare parts held by Chrysler in Aus. My 2010 Grand Cherokee diesel 5 weeks off the road waiting for PS cv joint ex USA (under warranty). In 2013 world wide N23 safety recall because of 4x4 system slipping into neutral. Chryslers computer reflash fix has left 1000s of Jeep Grand Cherokee 2005-2010 owners worldwide without 4x4 low range. I have been waiting 5 months for a fix. If you are going to buy one check to see it goes into low 4x4.or go to Ausjeepoffroad forum, N23 recall problems. This problem is current.
Plenty of power for towing, comfortable .
Bad parts supply, bad Chrysler customer service

JEEP Just Enough Extra Parts - Worst Car I have ever owned
What ever you do, don't buy a Jeep. They look flash, and are marketed really well, but will give you grief.
I have a 2005 diesel, it has only done 78,000km. It has spent more time off being repaired. The local dealer/repairer can't seem to find the problems. There is no re-sale value, I'm still waiting to sell mine, once I get it back from repairs ( 5 months later), luckily I bought another car in meantime (go Honda, great cars !)
Absolutely nothing.
Electrics, during warranty (first 3 years) it was returned to dealers 12 times!!! Engine light, water pump, the list goes on.

No one could find the solution to the annoying beeping including Jeep Dealership.
I noticed the grill was loose behind bullbar when opened the bonnet the auto electrician noticed the bonnet leaver (sensor) was loose. A washer & electrical tape was all that was needed, finally I have a peaceful ride in my Jeep.

That can be high miles for the diesel. I know the earlier ones had a few issues.
I know of several diesels that have travelled near and over 300,000 k's, no probs. I own one, although mine has only travelled 145,000, If it's a Limited you get QuadraTrac 2, with mid, front and back diff locks, also wheel rotation monitoring. The best comfy 4WD available. If it's a Laredo the 4WD is still very good. I love the Mercedes diesel. All up a great vehicle.
Hey guys i am not going to tell everyone what to do, but I will give you a perfect example October 2018 took my jeep grand Cherokee limited to Caroline springs jeep in vic. With a windshields wiper sensor issue they told me it's the sensor so I said order new one for me few weeks later i get a call your sensor is here ill book you in fine went in sitting there few hours for the service guy telling me th ed gel pad that glues the sensor does not come with It I told him what you didnt know, anyway I told him I would find one because jeep wanted me to replace the windscreen that comes with the gelpad on it. I said your joking I'll find one I emailed a company in USA and they gave me a name of a company here in melbourne so I rang them and bought 2 for $90 got them to install it, then jeep manager came and said it's not working we don't know why we think it's your new head unit I told them are you guys stupid I've had that 3 years the rain sensor just started. So went to my friend at Alan Mance Motors in Footscray Vic he had a look and asked me how old is your battery I said 2013 the dealer replaced it when I bought the car. I had no idea what battery had to be in a jeep.
Here we go it worked out well I was having problems with battery going flat, so we changed it but my friend said it's 2 times the size you have now and according to the charts that's the right one bloody huge we replaced the battery and guess what my rain sensor started working so jeep dealers have no idea how to f is there own cars none of the mechanics even checked if I had the right battery and on top it was a cheap lion battery from China never buy them. The old battery was not big enough to power the car system with the canbus feeding power to everything so I'd say to everyone please make sure you have the right battery in your jeep because eventually it will stop supply power to your car it's amazing what a cheap battery can do to your cars system. Just beware of your battery replacement make sure you have the right battery it's huge. So all I really need is to get a software update so it will reset my jeep system amazing when you have the right information given to you.
I really hope this helps some of you guys on this forum. Jeeps dealers have no idea have not found one yet that knows how to fix a simple issue. That's why I take my jeep to Alan Mance Motors in Footscray Vic.
