Can’t praise Jim’s plumbing enough!
I can’t thank Jim’s plumbing enough. Chris Abrahamson was on time, punctual, gave great advice, was very organised with the jobs he did around my house, Overall, I was very happy with the price, discount and work Chris had done and he left the place very clean after he left. Now that’s great service! Great to see there are great, honest, young dedicated Plumber tradees out there still! Thanks Chris! You are worth your weigh in Gold! A credit to Jim’s Plumbing

Overpriced and dishonest business practices
We had a blocked toilet and called Jims Plumbing to attend and give us a quotation but ultimately unblock the toilet. Expecting the quotation to be $100-$200 (which is what we paid the last time it became blocked) we asked them to attend. The technician arrived and advised that to unblock the toilet would cost $999. We told him that was a crazy price and not to proceed. They then demanded a call out fee of $132 which was reluctantly paid. Another plumber attended later that day and unblocked the toilet for $150. Do not use Jims Plumbing!

Overpriced
Paid over $600 to get a leaking garden tap replaced. I advised [name removed] I thought the price was ridiculous, but he assured me this was the 'normal' price. He also quoted a further $1,267 (plus call-out fee if not done immediately) to replace 2 more taps in the laundry and bbq area. Needless to say I did not take him up on that offer.

Absolute rip off and the worst customer service
The gas hot water system had an issue with the pilot light on Monday 26th Jan 2020. Jim’s Plumbing came out promptly the following morning 27th and advised that given the age of the unit best to replace it at a cost of $2998. Given my work situation and the need for hot water agreed to replace it with them. It was all fitted and going by 11:00 am. Given the price paid for the new unit which was virtually double the cost compared to others. ent would send it. Had to call them on 28th Friday, 3rd Monday and finally on the 5th Wednesday when I rang them I got it. Most annoying considering this is a mandatory requirement for all works done by trades people. I say the price is rip off for two reasons firstly it’s the obvious costs but more the customer service which is absolutely shabby.

Job number 782564 evap cooler
Amazing service Nathan was very knowledgeable and helpful. Called on Thursday for my unit to get fixed and he came out on the Friday. Wish all services are this easy to deal with. Will definitely ask for him again if we have any issues again.

Nathan was very professional and polite. He arrived on time and fully prepared to complete the job in the day. He discussed a range of solutions to my range of jobs (big and small). He listened to my concerns and fixed the issue I had with a gas leak right away and then arranged for replacement of my very old gas appliances and had that completed in the same day! I was very happy.

Good service from a plumber who knows his trade!!
We had an issue with the water flow after the pressure valve was installed at our residence. Nathan was able to diagnose the issue immediately and fix it. He also took the time to explain the issue to us novices. I would highly recommend his professional service.

781775 toilet replacement
Not happy with Nathan. I have since found out I have been over charged by quiet a few hundred dollars. I was charged $1590 for replacement of a ceramic toilet...Not to mention that my callout was to fix a toilet that wasn’t flushing. Was told the whole toilet needed replacing. . I asked why and was told that it’s not worth fixing and cheapest and only option was to get a whole new toilet. option was to sign up with Jims. It’s really disappointing to know that there are people like Nathan out there taking advantage of people that don’t have a knowledge of plumbing. It’s Worrying to think what he would say elderly people or females living on their own to get a sale so he can reap the rewards. In addition,I was then advised that my hot water service system needed replacing. I didn’t even called the plumber for my hot water service. Nathan went ahead and quoted me $7000 to replace hot water and toilet. When I picked myself up from the floor from the Shock I told Nathan I couldn’t afford that expense. Nathan tried to convince me to get interest free but luckily I didn’t sign up for that. I have since found out $7k is robbery and I’m glad I didn’t go ahead with replacing a hot water service that is still in great working order. I have found a review on the review page where a person got quoted $4490 for a continuous flow hot water system. Nathan quoted me $7000 for a continuous flow and a toilet replacement. So I was going to be ripped off even more because if you add $4490 from the quote I saw in this feedback page and $1590 that I was quoted to replace the toilet that would add up to $6080!!! Yes, I did go ahead and get toilet as unfortunately, with the long weekend Jim’s were the only ones I could get in touch with. Mind you after installation a third plumber had to revisit due to leaking toilet. Nathan was friendly but obviously he’s trained in sales. He wanted me to pay before the job was done but luckily I didn’t and asked me to write a review about him while he was watching me over my shoulder. My initial review was complementary to Nathan however I have since gone in and edited this review as I have had plenty Of time to think about the initial service, speaking with others including plumbers about the situation, the pricing robbery and the poor service from Jim’s.....I’ve called them several times asking for my paid itemized invoice and certificate of compliance, and I’m still waiting for it. When I paid I was told I’d get the receipt emailed within 30 minutes and it’s been five days and still nothing. Hope I never have to use them ever again as I know I’ll be made to be the fool and get ripped off financially. They’ve made a fool of me but lesson learnt. I’m taking matter further.1 comment

Ripped off experience
I got Jim’s plumbing to fix pipe leaking in my kitchen, I asked the plumber how long it will take to complete the job then he seemed unclear to say anything. So I assume it would be complicated then. I didn’t know that it actually only took 15 min to complete the job and they charged me $522. $132 call out fees and $390 job done. I supplied part of the pipe ($9 only for the pipe) too. omer. I raised my concern to the customer section, they don’t see their charges were unreasonable and triple times more than the market rate. The customer officer told me that this is national rate and no different whether you call the job in weekday or weekend, I said to him every state has their own CPI rate every year and how can you get SA customer to bear the same higher charges as Customer in Sydney and Melbourne? Just wondering do you have financial analysis and strategies staff to work for your business for long run plan? I strongly not recommended this plumbing to anyone. Apparently, Jim’s Plumbing Adelaide is the *only* licensee for the plumbing side of Jim’s... a deal apparently forged back at the origins of the Jim’s franchise organisation.
All the vans & drivers are employees of Adelaide, hence you’re not paying the guy who does the work, your paying the Adelaide overlord and his costs too. Hence the ridiculous pricing of parts & labour.
Legally, they’re ok, as they make the upfront charges clear when you book, but say nothing about the lack of basic customer rights, or overpriced incurred charges.
Never again. Ever. More than twice the highest estimate I had prior - and they broke existing fixtures - charged me to perform.a temporary fix - which I’ll have to find some more $$ to repair in the future!

How can you justify a bill for $640 to replace a pressure relief valve in 45 minutes? This appears a disgraceful rip off. How do you justify charging this amount? Please do not reply by stating that I agreed to the charge. That is not the point. The valve retails at less than $200, much less at Bunnings, making your non urgent visit with a call out charge of $73 a labour cost in the order of $480 an hour. - please justify.
