Just one question, who owns Jim's Plumbing Adelaide because there are some things you need to know about your plumbers and staff. Could I please have an email address and phone to contact the owner?

Apparently, Jim’s Plumbing Adelaide is the *only* licensee for the plumbing side of Jim’s... a deal apparently forged back at the origins of the Jim’s franchise organisation.
All the vans & drivers are employees of Adelaide, hence you’re not paying the guy who does the work, your paying the Adelaide overlord and his costs too. Hence the ridiculous pricing of parts & labour.
Legally, they’re ok, as they make the upfront charges clear when you book, but say nothing about the lack of basic customer rights, or overpriced incurred charges.
Never again. Ever. More than twice the highest estimate I had prior - and they broke existing fixtures - charged me to perform.a temporary fix - which I’ll have to find some more $$ to repair in the future!
These guys charge like QCs
THEY WONT BE GETTING MY M0NEY

How can you justify a bill for $640 to replace a pressure relief valve in 45 minutes? This appears a disgraceful rip off. How do you justify charging this amount? Please do not reply by stating that I agreed to the charge. That is not the point. The valve retails at less than $200, much less at Bunnings, making your non urgent visit with a call out charge of $73 a labour cost in the order of $480 an hour. - please justify.

Where can I get some clarification on a job I had done please

I was shocked to be charged $315 to look at a hot water unit and within two minutes be told I need a new one. Then it takes around 15 minutes for head office to come up with quote, which was $5500. After research I have found out that the unit costs at most $1200...can you really justify the remaining cost?

Exact same situation with me, only cleaned the filter to see if it works which did not, then said you will need a new system for $5,500. Did not even bother looking at other options where the fault was coming from. Another plumber came and just replaced a valve for $400 which included a general service of the unit! Definitely trying to rip off people saying time to get a new unit when it might not be the case.
Be super careful dealing with these guys, we've received unsolicited and threatening contacts after making negative reviews ... the job they quoted $480 for was done for <$180 by an authentic plumber. My strong opinion is to make sure you obtain some kind of free quote from a local plumber before doing anything with this company.

Unblock toilets, how much?
2 answers
In case it's useful to anyone in future:
- normal cost for a toilet blockage (with no complex issues like pipe damage) would range in the neighbourhood of $150 - $300
-I can't speak for Jim's plumbing, but based on past experiences I'm guessing the fee will be something like the liver and kidney of your first-born child
Jim has turned into a money hungry rip off merchant steer clear unless you want to be sucked dry of your hard earned money...

It's a pity Product Review requires a receipt for Jim's plumbing so it will not let me provide a review where Jim's were not able to provide any service as i was advised by the contact centre that their contact in the area (Geelong) was " not accepting any further work". I ended up using a non Jim's local supplier that sorted the job. Has anyone else had a similar problem trying to use Jim's plumbing?

Is there any advantage using a hot water system with a stainless steel tank?
Which companies sell them?
Thanks for your help. Fred ([email protected])

Hey Fatmano, the internal copper tank is no more from my understanding, cause some Companies don't want happy copper customers... So your next best thing to a tank not corroding within approx.10 years is a Stainless Steel internal tank.
My old SAXON internal copper tank lasted me 25 years, before I had to do my HWS homework where I bought a RHEEM Stellar 1.8kWh Stainless Steel internal tank. It cost a little bit extra for Stainless Steel, but that's the price I was prepared to pay to get longevity from a product.
