Ripped off experience
I got Jim’s plumbing to fix pipe leaking in my kitchen, I asked the plumber how long it will take to complete the job then he seemed unclear to say anything. So I assume it would be complicated then. I didn’t know that it actually only took 15 min to complete the job and they charged me $522. $132 call out fees and $390 job done. I supplied part of the pipe ($9 only for the pipe) too. omer. I raised my concern to the customer section, they don’t see their charges were unreasonable and triple times more than the market rate. The customer officer told me that this is national rate and no different whether you call the job in weekday or weekend, I said to him every state has their own CPI rate every year and how can you get SA customer to bear the same higher charges as Customer in Sydney and Melbourne? Just wondering do you have financial analysis and strategies staff to work for your business for long run plan? I strongly not recommended this plumbing to anyone. That’s a grey area with their price set to customer.

change of water tap
Called to change water taps which I bought with 129$ from Bunnings . Call out fee is 132$ and charged me 490$ to change it . I didn’t know what the usual price Was . If I said no, I would loose 132$ . Given that I didn’t know what the usual price was, I said yes to save 132$ . In total 612$ to change one water tap . When I called another plumber, he said 60$ for one tap . Otherwise, he was good and did some cleaning after that .he was very punctual.

way too expensive
Got them out to unblock a toilet, usually i get charged between 250-350 to fix, they charged over $600 to do same job? will not be going through them again.

Very knowledgeable and friendly plumber
We had a plumbing emergency on a Saturday night-- sewerage had backed up and overflowing down our driveway and yard. (the smell... Omg).
Peter from Jims rolled in and put us at ease instantly, very friendly and confident of his diagnosis.
His diagnosis was accurate, which led to a speedy repair. All the while explaining the way our pipes operate and plumbing 101.
Was a wonderful experience, very upfront and transparent with everything.

RIDICULOUS pricing, go anywhere else BUT HERE
The young guy was nice at first, and did a good job, but his PRICING???? How can ANYONE justify charging $622 for fixing two taps without giving you new taps? They charge a CALL OUT PRICE $132,before doing any work at all. Washers cost $5 for a pack of around 50, and labour can be justifiably up to $70 or $90 on New Years Eve, but he charged me $500 on top of the call out fee? The work took about 20 mins. The guy was worried i wouldn't pay as at first i said "i can't pay $920 for fixing two taps, so you may as well leave". He then offered to ...Read more
do the work for $500 saying "i'm not supposed to do this" as if blaming a boss, and i I changed my mind worried the hot water would leak too much and cost me a fortune. He then made me sign his ipad 3x before the job. Finally I asked for an invoice at the end and he refused to give me one? i wanted to forward the invoice to the landlord to show him the cost. He said"You will get the invoice in an email". I said "NO, i need to see an invoice before i pay, what kind of job is this?" He then added one sentence to his ipad notes, saying what he did but it looked really dodgy and not like a proper invoice. I said i didn't have that kind of money to pay right away, but he insisted "you have to pay now", and refused to wait a couple of days for payment. All he wanted was the MONEY. I used an emergency credit card and paid while he held up an eftpos machine, later seeing the invoice in my email stating that i COULD have paid later?? I rang customer service people, who stated the plumber runs his own Franchise so it was his own business: so he CHOSE the PREDATORY PRICING,. They refunded the $132 but that means i still paid $500 for a basic tap fix, and no parts. How can anyone justify charging more than $75 in labour and parts for replacing a washer in a tap- he got $500?? Even if he paid the secretary $30/hour, took out money for petrol, and Advertising, @ $100, the job itself would have been reasonably priced at $175 in labour and 2x 10c washers. He took my whole week's wage, with no conscience, taking total advantage of my vulnerability and need to get the water stopped as soon as possible. Most average wage people cannot afford this type of pricing. I am a tutor with 30 years experience and charge a reasonable fee of $60 per hour DRIVING to people's homes. Tried to rip me off
I contacted Jim's Plumbing to get a quote to repair our toilet which wasn't flushing. Couldn't have been easier to set up, very friendly service. Once the plumber arrived, he told me that it was very hard to get parts for our toilet (could take 4 days - which isn't even a long time in my eyes!) and to repair it would cost me $990. He recommended a new toilet be installed to avoid "seeing my face back here again and again" - implying a repair would just be a quick fix. A new toilet installed was going to be $1650.

We have quoted to completely overhaul your existing Reece toilet so that each perishable part is new and provided a second option to put a new toilet in with a brand such as Caroma, where parts are readily available, no matter what plumber you are using. The problem you will encounter is that you have had only one part of the toilet replaced, while we strongly recommended while the technician was there that the remaining parts should also be done. Great service but a little pricey
I had an invoicing issue originally but when I contacted Jim's about it they dealt with it promptly and satisfactorily, so thumbs up for customer service and complaint resolution, this is my updated review in response.
The plumber who attended was friendly and prompt, and did the job of an emergency replacement for our outdoor tap well. He also noticed that the water pressure on our property is a bit high and gave us some good advice about the effect of that.
Just a word of warning, the non-refundable call-out fee does NOT include the first half hour of service or similar in the way that most companies do, so I'd recommend asking for a ballpark quote over the phone in advance to be sure that you're not surprised by the total bill.

Quoted $6k For A Gas Leak After Charging $500 Just To Turn Up
Stay clear. Complete rip off! I will never use this company for anything after this experience. Jim's Plumbing quoted me $6k to get a gas leak fixed and I got somebody else to do it - complete with Certificate of Compliance (just in case anybody's wondering) from Local Pro for $2k. Jim's Plumbing also tell you it's a fixed fee of $120 for a call out, which is fine. I agreed to that over the phone. But then when they get there, they then tell you it's another $330 just to do an inspection or they can't do any work! Basically, they sent me an invoice for $500 just to have the guy turn up and give me a quote for $6k. I was absolutely furious. I declined their quote and told them it would all be going in their social media review.

ng company. Your old gas service was leaking and we have quoted to complete the service, not in plastic but copper, which will result in it lasting almost a life time. The other difference is we have not quoted to replace just part of your service and you will find that this is in a similar condition to what the contractor part replaced for you. Money for jam - tried to rip me off blind.
After our hot water service failed we contacted Jims to have someone take a look at it. A friendly bloke arrived and did little more than glance at the HWS before declaring it needing replacing. Luckily we'd done some homework before the guy had arrived and had armed ourselves with indicatives prices for supply and fit a HWS.
This guy quoted well over twice the going price to suppy and install! North of $3,000 for a Aquamax G340SS gas storage system. Nothing special about the install.

There are many types of hot water systems available on the market that vary from a 4 star energy rating up to 6 plus stars with warranties from 6 to 12 years, so it is important that customers are comparing apples with apples as often what a customer has existing may not be the best option of hot water heater for their house hold. I was charged $900 for a weekday, daytime plumbing callout in suburban Perth. To check a gas heater for a possible leak, 15 minute job, no parts supplied.

Apparently, Jim’s Plumbing Adelaide is the *only* licensee for the plumbing side of Jim’s... a deal apparently forged back at the origins of the Jim’s franchise organisation.
All the vans & drivers are employees of Adelaide, hence you’re not paying the guy who does the work, your paying the Adelaide overlord and his costs too. Hence the ridiculous pricing of parts & labour.
Legally, they’re ok, as they make the upfront charges clear when you book, but say nothing about the lack of basic customer rights, or overpriced incurred charges.
Never again. Ever. More than twice the highest estimate I had prior - and they broke existing fixtures - charged me to perform.a temporary fix - which I’ll have to find some more $$ to repair in the future!

How can you justify a bill for $640 to replace a pressure relief valve in 45 minutes? This appears a disgraceful rip off. How do you justify charging this amount? Please do not reply by stating that I agreed to the charge. That is not the point. The valve retails at less than $200, much less at Bunnings, making your non urgent visit with a call out charge of $73 a labour cost in the order of $480 an hour. - please justify.
