When it works it's good, when it doesn't it's bad
So glad we got an extended warranty. In 5 years it has just gone in to be repaired for the 6th time for the same problem. Just stops grinding. When it works makes a beautiful coffee but we must of got a lemon.
Purchased in January 2021 at Harvey Norman for $2,284.00.

The coffee maker is really cool! The article https://milkfrothertop.com/jura-j9-review/ inspired me to buy. The coffee drinks are really delicious. The only negative for me - is not suitable for small countertops.

Can't get it serviced in Sydney
After a recent cleaning cycle the coffee went to the grounds receptacle. I have been advised that I have to get it to Newcastle & back to Manly (Sydney) .....If that had been the case when I bought it, I never would have bought it. Most other machines can be repaired locally or the company provides a free pick up & delivery service. I will never buy another Jura product again.

Fantastic and reliable
We have had this machine for a little while now and I am a big coffee drinker (25-30 shots of coffee per day) and cannot speak highly enough of the machine.
No machine is perfect but the pros for the Jura machine far outweighs the cons.
Pros
The quality of coffee is always determined by the quality of beans you use. That said the quality of coffee that comes out of this machine when using good beans is as good as any high-end cafe. The machine is fast and while the setting up of presets can be a little time consuming initially, once done it...Read more

Excellent machine. Great Value for money.
I felt that I needed to write this review after reading some of the negative ones and just shaking my head in amazement and wondering what planet these people are living on! I have owned Jura machines for about 10 years now since I first purchased a used Z5 on ebay. I did a lot of research before my purchase and Jura was the machine consistently recommended. So, at the time I couldn't afford a new one and decided to buy a used one. The old Z5 is no longer but now I own a J9.3 and a J6. I bought the J9.3 about 2 years ago and am very happy with ...Read more
it. The quality of the brew and milk froth is amazing. The colour display is a good size and can be customized. If people say that these machine can't make a good coffee I would suggest looking at the beans you use. Milk froth for cappuccinos is perfect. Yes, the temperature is not scalding hot, but I don't know many people who like to burn their mouth every time they have a coffee. The machine is super easy to clean and maintain, you don't need a university degree! Overall, the J9.3 is a stylish and well designed machine, which if looked after properly, will give you years of great coffee.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
How to get the coffee you want
Imediately after using, clean milk system (P button) clean water will suffice, cleaning agent every 2nd or 3rd day. Each day before 1st cup remove rubber piece on milk frothing unit (on top just behind dial). Rinse in warm water squeezing tip (if this tip is not clean your coffee will come out cold & flat).lastly sit milk container on a stand between 12cm to15cm high. Since using this method I have great coffee every time. I have two machines early J9-3 (nearly two & half years old) plus later model one year old I keep at my friends place. Enjoy your coffee

J9.3 is a Great Machine. My second Jura unit
This is my second Jura unit. I upgraded from a Micro Ena 1. This J9.3 is on a whole different level. The coffee is strong tasting and It can sure take a workout. I do find the milk a tad warm and not boiling hot. However I believe a lot to heat is lost through a cold cup. I place my cup in the microwave for 20 seconds to warm it up prior to frothing milk. My J9.3 is up to 1500 count and touch wood has been fault free. A quality machine.

Disappointing in so many ways
Well I don't think I have to comment on the temperature of the coffee, never hot, just warm. We resort to pre heating the cups to very hot with boiling water before making a coffee. And it does run out of water half way through making a coffee and the adjuster for the grind is just plain nasty, agricultural would be kind. We purchased with a extra 3 year warranty which ran out just before it packed up. Jura were very helpful with a complete overhaul of mechanicals for $290 Australian dollars, we took it to their authorised dealer. They guarante...Read more
ed to have it repaired and ready for collection within a week. One week two days later, I rang $760 for a new display only and the repair was void because there had been vermin in the machine. I explained nothing was wrong with the display and it was there as discussed because the grinder was spinning but not grinding. I collected the machine rang Jura with a complaint and bought a special key online to be able to remove the special screws that are there to prevent access. Pulling the thing apart was not a 5 minute exercise. The brewer group was filthy with jammed up coffee, and very difficult to move. A full strip down and clean solved that issue. Cockroaches, flys and a gecko had been running around and defecating inside, the sensitive parts such as wiring were fine and all the circuit boards were pristine. But to be honest for 5 years in Australia it was not that bad. But the worry for me, we have been drinking the coffee in a environment where insects and small Animals had been crapping. And how could you design a machine with huge openings allowing these insects and Animals to enter the machine with no barriers or preventative measures to stop this at all, I think a health risk? Back to the grinder, definitely a disconnect between the gearbox and motor. As it was definitely faulty I proceeded to rip it apart to determine the fault. The fault was in my view inevitable, guaranteed to fail, the gearbox has about a 45 to 1 turn down ratio, achieved by multiple layers of gears packaged in a injection moulded gear box. This gearbox has gear teeth moulded around the circumference of the internal sections upon which layers of plastic gears rotate. Three plastic gears rotate on the primary gear on the end of the motor, all 3 of these gears had stripped their teeth. Just not up to the job and I would have thought for the price we might see some steel gearing and a sheer pin in the event of a foreign body in a coffee bag jamming the grinding mechanism. Do I buy the motor and gearbox or is this machine at the end of its designed life. The term throwing money at it, is this trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear. A decision to be made.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Jura Impressa J9.3 - 6 Months in and Loving it
Purchased this machine 6 months ago. Also purchased the cup warmer (as an additional indulgence). I am not a big coffee drinker, maybe 2 cups a day, but I do love good coffee. This machine does not disappoint, regular coffee, expresso, cappuccino, latte macchiato - all are wonderful with enjoyment derived from every sip. With regard to the ongoing issues I've read concerning cold to warm coffee. On any "straight" coffee setting, this machine delivers a hot cup of coffee, I have not experienced any issues there. With the milk based coffees...Read more
, I've noticed the first is warm to hot. I call this my "drink right away" coffee - which suits me in the morning when I am in a rush. I make another for my travel mug for the drive to work, and the second is quite hot. Friends and family could to believe I would spend this kind of money on a coffee machine, but when they come to visit, I spend most of my time making coffee for them - they tell me I make the best coffee they have ever had. It took me about a week to fiddle with the grind settings - it now is perfect and I have not changed it. I've used the pre-ground setting and same results as the grinder setting - a great cup of coffee. Cleaning and maintenance do not take much of my time, I follow the Jura's instructions (and use the filter option) and the machine is running like the the fist day I took it out of the box. All in all I am a fan of this machine - I do admit, it has spoiled me for coffee, as when I get one elsewhere, I can barely drink it.1 comment

Great machine
Just bought one and it is absolutely fantastic. Makes better coffee than anywhere I have tasted. You must have a dud. t took me about 1 week to set it to my liking and now it works like clockwork. I warm the cups before making the coffee which is the recommended way anyway.

I expect far more from a $3000 machine
Soooo disappointed with this J9 coffee machine.
My first issues started 3 years ago when the water tank ran out of water for the first time. Hang on, how is that possible with a $3000 machine you ask, surely it warns you before it runs out? Nope, it just runs out mid coffee!
Then, that little CHEAP plastic adjuster for the grind just never felt right. Yep, only ever adjusted it as per the user guide, whilst it's griding. But I can tell you, it feels like it's broken from day 1.
And the number of times i've had to clean coffee splatte...Read more

I ran a clen over the weekend with the pricey Jura cleaning tablets as recommended and as I've done every time since I bought the machine and now, the machine produces watery coffee. I fact the grinder just doesn't sound right. I thought, maybe I'll try to adjust the grind (yes yes, while it's grinding). Guess what? That adjuster is jammed and won't budge. I have no idea what to do! $3000 every 3 years is not good enough!2 comments

JURA J9.3
I will never ever purchase another Jura Coffee machine or any Coffee machine that is locked down with special oval head screws so that the Brew Group can't be manually cleaned. If you own one of these machines, likely the coffee is bitter. It is bitter because there will be heaps of mouldy coffee and cleaning chemicals spread through the grinder and brew group. The cleaning consumables that are sold for these machines do not clean that crud out of the machine which can only be achieved with 3 or 4 hours of stripping the machine and manually cle...Read more
aning. I performed this operation on my approximately 2 year old Jura and replaced the Brew Group. 4 weeks after doing this I stripped the machine again to find that there was a good layer of mouldy coffee around the brew group that would have been dropping bits of sludge into each coffee.1 comment

ote: I had to order these from a 3rd party supplier as the information I have is Jura themselves will not sell those parts. Nor will they honour any warranties if the machine has been opened by someone other than them. And in answer to your question, the brew group cannot be accessed without the special oval head tool. Now if any other Jura users out there have contracted an autoimmune disease such as Lichen Planus I would very much like to hear from you. Luke Warm!
I too have had the same experience with the Jura 9.3 and on the hottest setting..once I have added milk I must heat my coffee in the microwave! Nothing made a difference. I have heated the milk in the microwave first then added the coffee made on the hottest setting and still it's not what anyone would consider "HOT!" Disappointed is an understatement considering the expense of this unit.

Extremely happy with this super reliable machine that makes a great coffee.

Very Disappointed with this Machine
The Jura Impresa J9.3 doesn't work properly and the manufacturer dis- owns its product.I recommend to any lookers to keep away from this product it's not worth the hassle. We have had nothing but trouble from the first day. It doesn't make a good coffee and has not lived up to the hype that Harvey Norman said at the time of purchase.

When it works it's just ok.
First machine we purchased failed straight out of the box, sent it back to wholesaler and it was replaced with a new machine which worked ok and provided coffee on average as advertised, that was until until about four months ago, now won't supply water through machine to grounds and just stops pumping and wants to refill the water system every time, even though water jug is full, milk frother works properly. Try a Breville Oracle instead
We had a Saeco Incanto for 12 years and it made pretty near coffee shop quality coffee. When it died I tried to buy the current model but nothing similar was available. The salesman at Harvey Norman did a huge sales job on the Jura J90 "Nothing compares with it" so $2.500 later we took it home. Luke warm coffee and milk, thin flavour - not a touch on the old Saeco. Must be me ! Took it back & the Jura rep was in store. Very pleasant fellow who jiggled & fiddled & declared it perfect. "They drink it at that temperature in Europe" No they don't ...Read more
! ! Next day took it back to Harvey Norman for more help & the owner agreed that it was totally unsatisfactory & offered a full credit. How good was that ? We had heard about Breville's Oracle and went with that. I defy anyone to differentiate between the coffee, flat white, latte or espresso that the Breville Oracle makes & that made by a professional barista. Thank you Harvey Norman for top quality customer service & Breville for a top quality appliance. Jura, check your competitors and try a little harder.Similar opinion? Too many issues...
I will start out by saying, it makes a great cup of coffee. Black coffee, that is. Coffee with milk is too cold, but I'm sure you've seen that mentioned many times in these reviews so I won't dwell...
Many other issues! Both hoppers are just too small. Especially the bean hopper. It is s gravity feed from the top, and the beans don't always drop through. You constantly need to open it up to help "push" the beans through. So, even when it's full it still beeps at you saying it's empty. All in all the hopper capacity is just too small anyway...Read more
. Same with the water hopper in our opinion. But, the worst part is the machine will start making a cup then stop before finishing to say you need more water. It won't resume, you need to start over. So now you have a double strength coffee. What a waste of time and coffee.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Questions & Answers
Georgeasked
What is the coffee temperature when set to maximum?
Klaus H.asked
Hi, I have a Jura Impressa J9.3
I replaced the brew unit thinking the problem/symptoms came from the brew unit.
Well, the symptoms are still there. So please let me know what the problem is.
When pressing to make coffee, the machine correctly grinds the coffee, brews the coffee, has nice crema and produces the right amount of coffee.
Now is where the symptoms start.
The machine clears the coffee puck but then seems to be stuck for about 5 seconds with a big humming sound, then the machine continues the clean and prepare for the next coffee and will make cup after cup.
I am concerned about the loud 5 second humming sound. Along with that I discovered that the used coffee pucks are semi wet, meaning there is definitely some water/coffee slush in the used coffee grounds container. And there is an 1.5 inch large circle of wet coffee grounds on the long tray right after the end of the coffee ground container. I have pictures and a video I can provide.
Appreciate any help as I would like to get the right part to resolve the listed symptoms?
Thank you, Klaus H.

Hi Klaus,
Depending on the beans I use I too have some moisture in the collected bean grounds. I find this occurs just before the scheduled clean and I find myself cleaning the machine more than it tells me too to avoid this.
I am not familiar with what you are saying but Jura have fixed price servicing in Australia so I would get a Jura service centre to take a look.

Todd

Hi
How do I upgrade the software to be able to start using the wireless adapter and the Jura app?
Please make the 9.3 compatible with the the wireless features, I think it is reasonable for a 2000€ machine.
