Great while it lasted... a whole 2 months
Great unit while it lasted, easy and automatic. But it died without warning only 2 months into use. Called Kambrook customer care, and they advised me to contact the store I bought it from... No help at all. Disappointing, I had thought maybe mine was a one off until I came across all these other reviews of people having the same issue. Do not reccomend

First one lasted a day, second lasted 3 weeks.
Hi
I don't usually do this, but after returning two rice cookers within a month I feel you have a real issue with your Krc5 / krc8
we bought a KRC8 from Kmart Halls head 6210. It lasted only one cook. It burnt out and would not got onto the warming setting.
It was extremely hot to touch.
We took it back to Kmart and were issued a replacement.
The replacement unit also failed Tuesday 03/05/16.
All up it cooked 8 times. We had it for about 4 weeks.
All dishes were 2 cup rice dishes- directions followed to the letter.

On completion of the last rice dish it cooked, it shut off ( cooked but did not go to warm). It was also extremely hot to touch. It did not work again after that. We have since returned the replacement rice cooker to Kmart and been issued with a voucher to buy another, or any other product. Unfortunately whilst standing in front of the rice cookers, about to purchase our third in less than two months, we decided not to go ahead. We have not purchased a third one, which is a shame. We are now Looking at other products. I decided to research and read approximately 50 reviews on your rice cooker. Almost everyone of these reviews has had the same problem we have had. The product is faulty, overheats and should be recalled. A copy of this email will be used as my review on your product. It's a shame such a reliable company has made such a terrible cooker. We have been lucky as we kept our receipts and were able to return them. Please do something about it before someone is hurt.

Terrible don't waste your money.
This is my second one in a matter on months, the first one I used twice and it stopped working. I returned it and got another one, this one has lasted 4 uses and has now stopped working, can't return this one because I have misplaced receipt, but I won't be buying another kambrook model. What a waste of money, can't even get half a dozen uses out of the machines!
I thought first time just bad luck this time I know now they are just junk, so do not buy review other models and pay a bit more this is a big inconvenience.

What happened to the quality ? Now just rubbish
Had my original Kambrook for years and loved it. Used it several times a week before it needed replacing. New one used a handful of times and burnt out. Replaced it and the next one burnt out on its third try. Don't waste your cash - quality control nonexistent now.....I miss my old one

Hi Megan - please return this product to the store where it was purchased with a valid receipt to request a refund.
If I had the receipts I would have.....but instead I have thrown both cookers and the receipts out. The burning smell was so strong I couldn't wait to get it out of the house. I have since bought a be... Read more
tter quality product as I was so disappointed with the Kambrook.I should add that several weeks after my purchase of the Breville multi rice cooker - I absolutely love it. Far higher quality and well worth the extra cost. No more Kambrook

Bought 2 and both died within 5 months
At first I loved it, cooked rice well, etc. compact and simple. My first one lasted a month and bought a second one, I think a month after as it was sold out at Kmart and waited for it to come in. Tonight, in the middle of cooking, it died again. Don't waste your money as much as I did!

Just an update, Kambrook have contacted me and I must say their customer service is great, response to each email was very prompt. Will be receiving a replacement unit soon and hopefully it won't play up again.

Good value for money
This rice cooker is good value for money. I will never go back to cooking rice on the stove top anymore. It is also very compact. As I always face space issues in my house, I was looking for something compact. There are few negatives like the rice gets stuck to the pan if left too long in the cooker.

A shocker.
Purchased in Aug 2015. Same as everybody, rice stuck to bottom every time from first use. Lid did not fit correctly or rather was too light and so steam spewed out onto surrounding cupboard. Last straw was at Christmas when I noticed the bowl has split almost right around the rim.

Terrible
I bought two of these. First one stopped working after one week (about 3 uses). Second one stopped working after about 3 weeks (10 uses or so). I saw the exact same model, with no Kambrook brand on it at Target for half the price. This model is a white label, probably manufactured in China and purchased by Kambrook for about $3 a piece with their brand slapped on the front of it. To be fair, the same model I bought about 3 years ago worked fine for several years until I melted the power cable by putting the cooker on top of my oven warmer. This...Read more
is a different model to that. Kambrook have picked the wrong outsourced manufacturer and the product is not worth the box its brought in. Pretty simple, don't buy it or you'll have to drive down to Goodguys and return it within a few weeks as I am about to do. : )Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Waste of Money
Bought the Kambrook express & same as other review, rice stuck to bottom and clumpy. Lid didn't seem to sit right. I even tried using less and then more water but still the same outcome. I feel ripped off as thought would at least work when new. Looking for another one.

Rubbish
Teflon coated rubbish. Teflon that's been banned from sale in USA so dumped onto Aussies to sell to. Total rubbish. Useless. Scratch it once or just touch it with some metal, even the ring on your finger and it's into the bin with it. Money down the drain. My last Teflon one lasted ten minutes and cost more. It was Russel Hobbs. Still, just rubbish.

Rice burnt at bottom.
From the very first day we used this rice cooker it burnt the rice at the bottom of the rice cooker and the rice also stuck together in a clump at the bottom. We have used a number of rice cookers over the years and never experienced this problem before. Rang the customer service line and were advised its the rice that we use. We have started using another rice cooker with the same batch of rice and there are no problems.

So dissapointed
How do you explain after using a product twice & when you are using it for the second time we start to smell a burning electricity smell & the rice cooker stops. Lights go out. No power & never works again!!
I had one before that lasted 2 years & only decided to get a new one because daughter scrapped bottom of the nonstick base.
So dissapointed with this.
Can't find Reciept so now have to buy yet another rice cooker.

not useful
purchased this model 2 weeks ago. Have used it 4 or 5 times. Always sticks and singes on the bottom. Bears no resemblance to rice boiled in a pot on the stove. Tried more rice, more water. less rice less, less water, nothing works. Maybe need a better model or none at all!

You get what you pay for
Like Sara, review Mar 2015 I find that the rice sticks to the bottom or even slightly burns no matter what I do. I've tried different quantities of both rice and water. In hindsight I should have bought one with an adjustable timer. This one only has Cook or Warm. But it is very cheap so pay peanuts get monkeys

Excellent
Have had no problem since purchasing it last month and use it at least 5 days a week. Very quick, easy to clean and produces great rice every time. The warm feature is excellent too. When rice is nearly cooked I put some turkey mince or fish on top and 10-15 mins later I have a healthy meal of steamed rice and meat/fish and only 1 pot to clean! Best thing I've purchased for my kitchen in a long time!

Disappointed
I eat rice every day but I live alone so I do not need to cook a large quantity. This product sounded perfect. However no matter what I did - more water, less water, stirring a couple of times during the cooking - I always found the bottom layer of the rice was overcooked/slightly burnt. Maybe if I had cooked more than 1 measure of rice - a larger quantity - I might have been able to avoid the burning. In the end I gave up and bought a new non-stick saucepan with a lid for the same price as the rice cooker and the result is perfect.

Reasonable rice sticks to base
Used this cheap rice cooker that was just OK at first then had to adjust water content from suggested. On the third attempt the rice getting good, then alas on the forth attempt the cooker burnt out when switched on! Will return and buy another brand.

A Great Rice Cooker
I have had this Kambrook Rice Cooker for two and a half years now and cook rice at least 2 or 3 times a week and it has cooked rice perfectly! The rice does tend to stick on the bottom of the pan a bit but I just soak the pan with water for a few minutes before gently removing it by hand and wash in warm soapy water with a soft cloth afterwards. I previously had a Breville rice cooker and after replacing the pan 3 times because the teflon coating kept peeling off I threw it out and vowed not to get another rice cooker but I relented and bought the kambook Rice Express 5 cup rice cooker and am so pleased with the way it cooks.

Great value for money and delivers!
I've got this Kambrook rice cooker since 2008 and as an Asian I use it every single day. Never have any issue and even though the Teflon is peeling off, rice still doesn't stick. People have to understand that when rice is cooked, you have to leave it for at least 5 mins for it to rest and turn the switch off and leave it to cool a bit if you want to scrape the bottom of the bowl and you'll get all the rice off lil effort.
I got it for so cheap since I was single and now married with 2 kids it still does it job with no issue. 8 years and sti...Read more
ll going! The plastic lid handle just broke a bit, so I might just buy another one exactly the same :) no point buying expensive one if this cheap one works great. Cooks rice as it should, cheap, last a long time, save bench space, easy to clean1 comment

Not too great
Good price but u get what you pay for, not good with heavy use. Lasted 4 weeks and has just burnt out (3rd kambrook rice cooker to burn out). Other than that perfect rice every time, no burnt rice and easy to clean. The steAmer was a great addition to the package
Easy to use and clean
3rd rice cooker that has failed after a month

What is the size of the measuring cop

Hi Allan,
I'm not a rice cooker guru but "they" keep asking me to comment every time there is a rice cooker question. For what it is worth I believe the standard rice cooker cup is 180ml. Through my patchy experience with rice cookers I think I have 3 different rice cooker cups in my plastics drawer - they are slightly different shapes but having checked them I can confirm they are consistently the same volume, so go with 180ml. Cheers, Seppo
Thanks very much l will go with that Allan

I just got a 10 cup rice cooker and steamer and following the rice/water ratio instructions, I cooked two cups of rice for the first time. It spluttered out fluid from around the edge of the lid to about 30-40, making a mess. Is this normally what they do.
Diane
1 answer
Hi Diane,
I've been asked to comment on your problem because I've submitted on the subject before but I'm not a guru on the subject. My current rice cooker has a max capacity of 8 cups and I'm reluctant to do less than 3 cups in it because the results can be patchy if your ratios are not spot on at the lower levels. To get used to it try doing 3 or 4 cups and either have leftovers or feed a hungry teenager. I use level rice cup measures for the rice and then don my glasses to get the water level spot on on the scale on the inside of the cooker container. It's not unusual to get a little bit of bubble blowing around the edge of the lid about two thirds of the way through the cooking but it should not be landing on the benchtop and making a mess. My suspicion is that you may have had a bit too much water in the mix and some of the excess came over the edge before there was time for it to be absorbed by the rice. Stick with it as rice cookers are a reliable way to get consistent cooked rice. Cheers, Seppo
