Exceptionally disappointing!

published

Unlike other quality knives I have seen, Kamikoto knives are ground on one side, causing any cuts to follow a significantly curved path. Compounding that is that the knife I used was dull right from new, and I cannot imagine I will ever use it. Kamikoto policy does not allow for returns based on disappointing performance or design.
I do not recommend.

Pretty inferior

published

The edge on these knives is poor, actually quite bad. The angle on the final bevel, the cutting edge, is nowhere near correct for a Japanese knife. I had to saw through a leek; cutting an onion takes some force. And given how strange the bevel is I suspect the entire edge needs to be reground. Nice packaging, nice hype, inferior knife.

I agree with all these bad reviews. Just received these knives and tried for the first time. As everyone else stated they do not cut straight at all. Almost cut myself during the process. Do not buy!!

Very disappointed

published

I have just purchased these knives and really forward to using them. My main complaint is that dont cut straight. It’s terrible. I was cutting through a piece of pumpkin and the knife went sideways. I totally regret buying these knives.

Absolute garbage. Knife does not cut straight and I'm not joking either

published

The marketing is amazing. The knives are horrific!! Like from a horror show. They are blunt. They do not cut straight. They are made in China. They are probably worth $80 bucks combined max. And I'm not joking. I regret buying these on Facebook so much. $288 US seemed like a bargain. How wrong am I. The owners of this company are disingenuous scammers. Don't make my mistake. Research and buy a legit product.

Mass produced rubbish

published

Made in Japan? Then why shipped from China? Poorly balanced, extremely blade heavy, advertised as single bevel but actually compound bevel, advertised as hand crafted but arrived with machining marks, poor hand feel translates to poor kitchen performance and fatigue, 3 hours to rehone to a true single bevel but still useless as the material is too soft to hold <10° bevel, flat backed instead of concave - where do I stop? These knives are rubbish, and that's being nice!

Kamikoto Kanpeki Knife Set

published

Firstly, I just love opening the latch of the well made wooden box, then lifting the lid to reveal my knives, which are nestled in thick foam shaped to the form of the knives. The sheer pleasure of holding and using with ease, well balanced, incredibly sharp knives, cleaning carefully and placing them back to their own bed, is a cook’s delight.

My go to knife

published

The Kanpeki knife is a pleasure to use, and more importantly it feels comfortable and balanced in my very small hand, allowing me to use the knife with ease and accuracy. The balance in my hand allows me to prepare any vegetable or meat / fish product with a lot more care and ease. The blade slices smoothly and with precision and has become my "go to" knife. On another level though I am rather disappointed to find that the knife is not made in Japan advertising is rather misleading.

Avoid

published

Google is your friend people... Its not hard to find the truth if you dig a little deeper....

I received the knives as a gift and jumped online to have a look at reviews...

Long story short they marketed as japanese made however looks like they are actually made in China.

Also according to the company Kamikoto knives generally range between HRC53+/-2, which is a lower score (softer steel), an average Supermarket knife will be on the same class hardness as these.

Other quality brand knives sit higher at 61- 62

Avoid this company and their products.

Fantastic addition to our kitchen

published

Quite honestly I bought these knives because I’d heard that Japanese knives were the best and I was caught up in the Instagram marketing. Receiving them in hand I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and finish. The detail is excellent all the way down to box and packaging. And wowsers they are sharp! Seriously cool product!

I read a lot of negative feedback about the Kamikoto knife set before I purchased mine,I’m not sure how these people use theirs but my set are fantastic for what I need.
They are well weighted, amazingly sharp and they look great too,I cook at least 4 nights a week and in the two months I’ve used them they haven’t let me down yet.
