Met my expectations.
I pitched my new Mono version 2 in a valley on top of the Remarkables near Queenstown before it rained and the wind came up. Was in the tent from 7pm due to rain till 7am when I woke to a beautiful fine day. I was dry and comfortable all night. Only drawback was trying to get changed inside due to the low ceiling height. I am 6 ft tall. Plenty of room otherwise for me and all my gear. I’m happy with my purchase.
Purchased in December 2021 at Kathmandu Physical store for A$150.00.

Stable through decent storm
For the price, solid little tent. If setup correctly (keep fly away from tent, tight lines, used almost all pegs), water and wind non-issue for me. Made it through 40 knot + gushing rain summer storm on Straddie with no leaks or lifts. Not a tent you'll sit up in but if you could the thing wouldn't pack down so small or as light. Good for what it is & meant to achieve.

mono 1
I found this mono 1 to be not geared for wet weather, it seems to create condensation and large droplets of water come through after amn hour of constant rain, it has also collected mildew after only 2 months of use. It would definitely be more suitable for the summer and spring ..colder climate I have had to place another tarp over it to stay dry .. also one of the poles has snapped on my second night camping... The good points are it is roomy even though it's difficult to sit up in .. it has good little storage pockets and a strong ground floor .

The instructions could be better.
I thorougly recommend going to http://www.kathmandu.co.nz/mono-tent-grey-green.html and having a look, then downloading and printing PDF instructions provided there (just in case: kathmandu.co.nz/media/wysiwyg/Glossary/Pdfs/Tent_Mono_1.pdf), as building it yourself first time and looking at the instructions attached to the bag may leave you scratching your head in full view of everyone at a camp ground. After measuring poles against the tent and figuring which end goes where, then figuring out how to attach the inner to the upper, I still had t...Read more
o leave guy ropes dangling as the diagram didn't make any sense to me. After looking at the above I am a bit more sure now, but still have no idea what plasticy loops on top of the tent are for (thought they had something to do with guy lines, but clearly not). Very compact Not very clear instructions3 comments
Hi Dmitry, thanks for the advise! How have you otherwise found the tent? Would you recommend it?
Hi Steve, I don't really camp a lot, so I had the chance to use it only twice in Coromandel in NZ both times on a campground. I am pretty much happy with it, it is very compact (about 38x17cm packed -... Read more
same as my single sleeping bag), and once I wangled myself a room in a place fully booked on a piece of grass where an ordinary tent wouldn't fit. I don't think you will be be comfortable sitting in it upright - it's mainly for lying down, but still with a reasonable room inside, so you are unlikely to feel clastrophobic. It got plenty of pegs to anchor down, so I'd think it would be reasonably stable in windy conditions (also due to low profile). I got in touch with Kathmandu customer service, and they promised to review the instructions, but if it hasn't happened, the links above will help you a lot.Similar opinion?
