Steam would be getting into the speed controller as is not sufficiently insulated.
please don't spend money on repairs, as cheaperin the long run to replace machine .
hope this helps

Patissier MX320 Series

I thought I would purchase the 320 kenwood pat issuer model but I'm concerned that with only a 600 w motor it will struggle to mix bread dough ? The reviews on the 270 model have made me very cautious and I wonder if the 320 has similar issues like the beater not reaching the bottom of the bowl etc.?

I made Yeast doughnuts last weekend and it did it perfectly . Mind you Mine was bought to mainly to mix cakes not dough as I have a bread maker for that .I have not had a problem with the beaters not reaching the bottom I do like the Scraper attachment that you get now nothing left on the bottom with this one

I do a lit of baking of cakes and slices . I haven't done bread dough as I have a bread machine as well to do that . You need to get a mixer to suit your needs for me this one is perfect for my needs. If I was to do a lot of manual bread baking I would look at a bigger Watt motor to suit, but that's not what I use it for as I am a cake baker for cake decorating .

No - the head of any Patissier attachment is unique to the Patissier range (the wide cup-shaped opening that loads onto the bolt sticking out of the machine). The part # is KW 715205. A few Australian Kenwood spares outlets have them for around $70-80 each. If you ring Kenwood, they'll give you a list of distributors in your area.

I am thinking of buying a 600w Patissier. Has anyone had bad experiences with it? Do the comments only relate to to 400 w model?

don't do it its not worth the money i got mine cheap a second for 160 but I still wish I saved up for a kitchen aid or a kenwood premier chef about twice as much (but so much more in versatility and usefulness) plus the parts in the premier are repairable and has metal gears so much better option in my opinion oh and never trust the wattage it doesn't necessarily lead to torque which is the turning force of the beaters. don't be put off by the kitchen aids 300w motors there powerful have you seen anyone complain they can't do anything? anyway just my 2 cents worth

My bread hook does not touch the sides and the bottom of the bowl, therefore does not combine the ingredients properly. I read on some review forum that you can lower the height of the mixer. Is that right? If not, then I think I'll have to return it.

Yes, you can adjust it by tightening the screw just above where the attachment clicks in :)

One of the other posts said they contacted ken wood and there is a variable motor(???) so it will slow down if something is a bit hard for the mixer to mix automatically so it doesn't damage the motor. Not sure that helps sorry

Jax458
Jax458

Yep. Mine did the same. And who knows what's normal. Waist of money as they are not repaIrable. They don't make parts for them. There a throw away product from what the technician was saying. Oh yeah even though they say you can make dough, and pavlovas with they attachments provided. They actually are not suitable to do that as their motors aren't strong enough. Bingo obtained since from salesmen and tech's. Gee l hope you don't have Sony problems.

I was thinking of buying this .. Now I'm not so sure, I really wanted a kitchen aid one but they are so expensive but I liked the look of this one I had reserved it with currys but do not think I will bother.. Is it really that bad ?

I haven't worked out how to lower the whisk as mentioned in another post but I put a plastic lid under the bowl and it worked better! Even without the lid to lift the bowl it makes ok cakes just leaves unmixed ingredients in the bottom, great pastry, but didn't whip my egg whites as it has a smaller engine than kenwood chef.

i like my patissiere but if i had another chance i would have bought the kenwood chef. bigger motor and bigger bowl and more attachments..

I have had this machine for a few years now although the power surges are annoying, but apart from that I am very happy. My question is has a KBeater that scrapes the side of the bowl come out yet

Well my neighbour had the kenwood patissier, while had a breville scraper mixer (the one that looks similiar to the patissier) anyway she borrowed my breville bowl and the breville scraper beater and it fitted perfectley into the machine. So she bought the bowl and scraper beater from breville. but youll have to buy the breville bowl, the one wiith the handle, because the scraper beater didn;'t work with her pattisier bowl. Also we foudn out the breville ice cream bowl, fits onto the machine aswell. hope this helps.

Hi, it shouldn't power surge, but the machine will adjust to weight and speed up and slow down as needed, I don't think it should do it too much for whipped cream

Hi EricaB,

Not that I am aware of. Just make sure the beaters are installed properly, they click into place, and that you are using the correct ones for whipping cream. I actually prefer to use a little electric hand beater for cream, it gives me more control over the consistency. But that is a personal preference.
