Good but would. Spend the money to get a faster mixer
I bough this mixer 2 yrs ago and still going. As I have never had a mixer before I though that it was quite good for what it was I've been able to do anything that I wanted from bread to sponge to pavlova. But I only use the the flat beater for everything and don't worry about using the wire beater it not that good.
Cheapest one
Slower then the others

Adjust the fitting height otherwise it can be a nightmare
I actually bought this as a birthday present for my partner on his birthday over a year ago, however yesterday was the first time I had actually used it. At first I was really disappointed - Sugar and butter weren't creaming and then when I put in flour etc it just wasn't mixing good enough at all and I had to keep scrapping and mixing by hand. To be honest I was beginning to think that my partner was just being polite in saying it was a great mixer. To me the main problem was that the beater just wasn't touching the bottom of the bowl, hence w...Read more
hy everything on the bottom wasn't being mixed in. After trolling on the Kenwood site I realised that you can actually adjust the beater height by moving the screw head just near where the fitting pops in. I have played around with this and it seems to have fixed the problem with the beater now touching the bottom and sides! I am amazed why this isn't correctly fitted like this in the first place? Needless to say it is now doing what it is supposed to do - mix cakes! Cute retro design. Nice solid unit. Beater head doesn't come fixed at the correct height and if not adjusted correctly can create a lot of extra hand beating which defeats the purpose of the machine!1 comment

Great Buy
I've had mine 8 years or more and it's never missed a beat. Used daily for many of those years for bread and baking. Yes it needs a quick scrape down sometimes but have never had a machine that doesn't, and it only takes a couple of seconds. Would happily buy this again if they are still the same.
Easy to use, reliable, sturdy

Dont buy
My beater was only used about 10 times in two years. It has started beating so fast that it almost flew off the bench and made the mixture go up the wall etc. No way should a beater do this after little use or even with a lot of use
life span short --disposable

So slow, louzy speed
The mixer has 12 speed and even on the highest speed it doesn't beat the batter fast enough. Now I only use this mixer to mix the eggyolk where it doesn't require the raising of the batter. You will never get white egg beaten white with this mixer. I am very disappointed with this mixer. I doubt if I would ever buy kenwood again in the future.
it stands firm, heavy. but that is not what I look for in a mixer. Speed is more important to make a good batter.
Speed. too slow even on the highest speed

Not worth the money spent.
I purchased this mixer about 18 months ago and have been so disappointed with it. The motor is just so slow in beating even when on full speed. It doesn't "cream" properly - I have to revert back to my old mixer to do this. One thing that it does do is whip cream so it makes it an expensive product just to do that. If I had known about these issues before I purchased it I never would have spent this amount of money. I had thought of taking it back to Harvey Norman or even contacting the maker but time got away from me and then it was too la...Read more

Not worthy of a star
The biggest waste of money better off giving your money to charity than these greedy companies that mass produce items they well know are far from perfect. Not only is it noisy it doesn't mix well and it shutters and the contents fly out everywhere even on low speed
Noisy and very messy

Very disappointed
Like many others I thought I couldn't go wrong with a kenwood! Ha! I had been thinking about getting mixer and a w Christmases ago saw the beautiful red patisserie on special. I asked the shop assistant who told me yes it was just like the chef but without all the extra add ones. So I snapped it up. I didn't use it for a few months and then for pastry which is fine but my first cake... It left all the sugar at the bottom! And don't even bother trying a meringue! I had to get my electric hand whisk out. Really really disappointed and what's wors...Read more

w works. I read somewhere the 'stopping' while mixing is supposed to happen to protect the motor. A big Lemon
The fastest speed setting is too slow for whipping or getting good peaks on egg whites and the beater does not get all around the suface of the bottom of the bowl. You have to continually stop the machine to scrape the sides down. I am very unhappy with this product but can't afford to replace it.
The colour
Does not do the job on it's own.

Complete lemon, it takes forever to whip up a bit of cream it is so slow. Very disappointed as I have been happy with Kenwood products in the past. Can not understand how this one even made it on to the market it is so bad.

Disappointing mixer
I bought the Kenwood Patissier about 9 months ago, based off the brands reputation. I have found the mixer to be slow and inefficient. The beaters don't seem to touch the bottom of the bowl, and the motor seems really slow - even when on top speed. Need to make a double batch of batter to get a good enough mix going on in the bowl. Motor seems to struggle with a batter any thicker than a butter cake or whipped cream.
Not enough power, beaters don't reach far enough into the bowl.

Can only agree very disappointed. Beaters don't collect mix from the bottom of bowl. And the motor is very noisey and slow.

ed once, but alas 2 years ago it could go no further and was retired. I bought the Kenwood Patissier thinking it would be a good replacement, how wrong I was. It groans when asked to do any work, no matter how many times I stop and scrape down the bowl, it is never mixed on the bottom, it is a poor relation to my original mixer, and I can't afford to replace it.I hope the makers of this machine read the comments!!!!Dissapointment. Not like my original 1976 Kenwood. Now the wire whisk has fallen apart and to replace is around $50.

excellent mixer
good cake mixer..the beaters do reach the bottom of the bowl, they just have to be adjusted slightly which is really easy, just a wee turn of a screw.you should have been told that when you brought it.doesnt go extremely fast, and i think thats a good thing, looks nice, wee bit loud maybe but they all are.overall it does what it is ment to..and i like it.
looks nice, good quality, good price.mixes beautifully once the beater was adjusted from its factory shipping height.
nothing really

great for making cakes and good for making dough
I love this mixer. Cakes tastes much better and i use it everytime to make my chapati dough. Makes my life so much easier. Would definitely recommend this to anyone. Only thing i would change is the mixer as it doesnt mix the sides very well. I have to keep using the spoon to mix the sides and then turn on the mixer again.
reliable,love the color, powerful machine
doesnt mix to the sides well enough as i thought it would,a bit small for my use

great colour range works well is easy to use everything is great no problems
doesnt always mix right to the bottom and very hard to lick the beaters

So disappointed
My Gran is an excellent baker and attributes all her success to her Kenwood so I bought on for myself. The first thing i tried to make was sponge and found I had to stop and scrape down the sides numerous times times before I could get a proper mix. Even then, it was so SLOW! The stopping and starting gave me a rubbery cake.
Then I tried meringue and it was even worse, the beater doesn't sit deep enough in the bowl to do start off the whipping so I had to pull out my trusty old hand-held.
Right now, I'm using it as an expensive and colourful book-end and geeting frustrated every time I see it discounted further in catalogues!
Colours are gorgeous, very sturdy design
Beater doesn't reach bottom or sides, speed is too slow,

Good
Very happy with this unit, it does what is should, and helps out in the kitchen, being a chef I wanted a basic unit that would help me do at home what the commercial ones do at work and this does the job. I make a selection of bread, cakes, desserts and any mixing job is greatly helped with this unit. I have not had any problems that some of the reviewers seem to have had. The unit mixes well, adjusts the speed when needed and the top of the unit will move as required, but the base of the unit does not move on the bench. There is a technique involved when using mixes and this needs to be followed as with all mixes.
Nice solid looking unit.
This unit is designed with "patissier in mind", this should be considered before purchasing.

This makes such a difference to my cooking!!
Fantastic mixer, everything I have made so far has risen more and been lovely, light and fluffy. It is the best pavalova I have ever had the experience of making. Amazing! It makes awesome bread dough, quickly and easily, incredible mashed potato, beautiful cakes and bikkies. This machine has enabled me to cook like I've never cooked before, I feel like a chef! I definitely give the Patissier a three thumbs up and would thoroughly.... thoroughly recommend.
Everything - beautiful - easy to use - makes cooking a breeze

Good machine
I'm quite happy with this machine for the price. I would have loved the KitchenAid, but this machine does the job and the colours are great. There have been some times where I've needed to scrape down the sides of the bowl, but nothing really to complain about!
I've had mine for 2 years and never had a problem with it. It's a great product for the home cook.
The colour, the attachments
Occasionally have to scrape down sides of bowl

Bad
I expected big things from this - after all it's a Kenwood. What a disappointment. Doesn't cream butter and sugar properly, beaters don't reach the bottom of the bowl, same with meringue. On the two occasions I attempted to make bread, had to remove the dough before it was mixed, as the dough hook just couldn't handle it and the machine was moving around the bench.
Now resorted to using my hand mixer and making bread by hand again. What a waste of money. Pity I couldn't get a refund.
My red one looks pretty on my benchtop.
Beaters don't reach the bottom or sides of bowl properly. No good for making bread, machine shudders and moves around.

Excellent
Great machine. Nearly took it back to the store after reading these reviews before we turned it on for the 1st time, but decided to give it a try anyway. Don't understand those who do not like it. Beats egg whites beautifully and dough mixtures were not a problem. If your mixture is not mixed at the bottom of the bowl you have a screw on the machine that will adjust the level of the beater. LOVE IT.
Good Looking and very strong and sturdy compared to other brands in same price range.
