Kenwood not meeting expectations.
The cookie mixes take patience, I have to stop and scrape, stop and scrape, and repeating... it take ages. Trying the dough hook, if it was musical at least would keep dancing around together! What a disappointment and a waste of money. The attachments neither reach the sides nor the bottom of the bowl leaving the ingredients poorly mixed if at all.
The looks
Attachments do not reach sides or bottom of the bowl resulting in ingredients poorly mixed.

My attachments are adjustable Kenwood should be able to tell/show you how to adjust the attachments

Bad
I received this as a christmas present and have only used it 4 times and am really disappointed with this product. On occassions, I have had to resort back to my mum's Sunbeam Mix Master that she has had for 20 years. I can't afford to buy another one so stuck with cakes that don't rise properly :-(. Very Very disappointed. I expected better from Kenwood.
Looks great
Overheats
Beater doesn't reach the bottom of the bowl
The top speed is not fast enough and doesn't mix enough.

Excellent product, love it!
I find this to be an excellent mixer. I mainly use the beater attachment and it mixes cakes and biscuits perfectly. I do find that I only use speeds 10 to 12 though, any lower speed makes things a bit tedious. I like how it looks on my benchtop and it is certainly very sturdy and strong! I also find that it is fairly quiet. Overall I am very happy with it.
Reliable, sturdy

Sooooo unhappy with this mixer. Had a Kenwood Chef for 25years - Fantastic. But this is a very poor relation. Doesn't mix to the bottom of the bowl & overheats at the drop of a hat. I find the lower speeds are useless. To mix anything I have to use the highest setting and even then there's no guarantee I won't have to finish mixing by hand. Do yourself a favour...DON'T BUY IT.
LOOKS GREAT!
DOESN'T MIX TO THE BOTTOM. OVERHEATS EASILY. LOWER SPEEDS USELESS.

is is classed as a "boutique" mixer it is suitable for light mixing such as sponges, cup cakes etc., it also is fitted with an electronic speed sensor- as it encounters ingredient's to mix, it alters speed to incorporate them properly, i.e. slows down, without over taxing the motor, once mixed in it will speed up. This seems as if the mixer is "labouring" then "surging" but is in fact a normal function. Another thing you may notice is the whisk not reaching the bottom of the bowl this can be rectified by : lift the head part up on its hinge - on the hinge/bracket you can see a screw directly in the centre - a slight adjustment of this screw can lower or lift the head thus lowering or lifting the height of the whisk in bowl Regards Team Leader, Customer ServiceIf it is suitable only for light mixing then why supply it with dough hooks?

Good
My husband got this mixer for us and I do love it! Its very stylish ( I have the red one), considerably affordable compared to the high end ones and it does its job beautifully. Mine creams the butter and sugar just fine. Would definetly buy it again.
Very reliable, attachments come off easily, very VERY quite, and easy to clean.
IF you are trying to whisk just 1 or 2 egg whites, you might have to stop midway, give it a stir and carry on. If you whisk 3 or more it does fine from beggining to end.

Excellent
I never thought I would ever enjoy a kitchen appliance so much! No longer do you have to scrape the sides of the bowl to make sure it's all mixed.. and the noise it makes is just so much more relaxing than a standard mixer. A must have for any one! It's a sturdy machine.. maybe a little on the heavy side, but it is nothing but quality. A definate hand me down for my daughter. Oh, I haven't made pasty in yet - but I am looking forward to it doing that very soon!
It purrs like a cat!

What a disappointment!
I thought it was great at first till I used it & found it only has one speed...SLOW! It's sped settings are useless 1-12 when '1' wouldn't mix water let alone anything else...& 12 wouldn't whip anything if its life depended on it. My Sunbeam was soooo much better. Thought this was a tried & true mixer....can't believe it turned out to be such a disappointment. Can't whip anything in it & wouldn't evn attempt bread after reading the other reviews. It has no power & no gutz...my Sunbeam went faster on 3 than this one does on 12....tragic. L...Read more
ooks like I've done my dough & will have to spend a few more hundred on a Sunbeam...at least they work properly. You shouldn't be selling this model Kenwood cos it would seem that I am not the only one with this problem...it should be discontinued. If I'd bought it in a store, I would demand my money back but I bought it online & funnily enough, the people I bought it from can no longer be found...wonder why? Attractive looking mixer No gutz, no speed, no power! Can't whip or beat egg whites cos too slow.1 comment
omg same thing with me! i'm so sad :( i got it on my graduation and its so slow my old hand mixer is better

Fantastic product, works and looks great!
My wife has been shopping around for about 2 months for a mixer, we have had a couple home and returned for various reasons. We came across this one for $269, white was $249 but she loved the red. We were reading reviews and we started to panic thinking we had bought a lemon. We tried mixing a bread dough but got the recipe wrong, I noticed there was alot of dry mixture at the bottom of the bowl when I emptied it to try again. I propmtly adjusted the screw to let the beater run closer to the bottom of the bowl. Second mixture was much thicker a...Read more
nd the motor did make some more noise but this was just the power output adjusting to maintain set speed. The mixture was perfect, no traces of unmixed residue. Has lost a star because there is no blender attachment, 400 watt is a good size for us as we are about to live in our bus and travel. The Kitchen Aid is 300 watt but has no blender attachment either and is more than twice the cost. Kenwood name, affordable Really bad reviews of the KM270Similar opinion? Looks good and thats about it........
I purchased this mixer few months ago thinking it was going to be the high standard of Kenwood..... boy was I wrong! My $15 dollar hand mixer does a better job....
The beaters don't reach the bottom of the bowl, this thing is so slow that it took around 20 min to whip cream. It is no good to make bread the machine got so hot that I thought it was going to catch on fire....
What a disappointment Kenwood!!!!!!! this machine is Rubbish
Apart from looking good, there is nothing good about this mixer

Has lasted well
I bought this mixer 3 years ago and between my daughter and I, it cops a workout. It has been a great machine, I have noticed some of the enamel coating on the mixer blade is coming off, I think it shouldn't have gone the dishwasher but oh well.
It is reliable and a very good purchase. I am very pleased with it.
Reliable and good for the price.
Coating is coming off blades.

Absolute waste of money. Doesn't do what it says it will. Could have done the same with a 1/4 of the price buying a hand mixer. Shame.
The colours.
I tried to whisk 6 eggs with lever on low and as i understand it is supposed to increase in speed on it's own, well when that happened the eggs ended up on my kitchen walls and floor. Uncontrollable speed means i can't control it and tried it a second time with 600ml of cream this also ended up on my walls and floors, maybe pro-hart would like it, but as a kitchen tool that is supposed to make cooking easier, this is an absolute waste of money.

speed & work up very gradually. Creaming butter & sugar with the paddle is an utter disappointment & it is constant work stopping the machine & scraping down the sides. And even then the results are mediocre. Why doesn't Kenwood make a paddle that will reach the sides like with the newer models? Then few of us would be here complaining.Similar opinion? Really dissapionted
I am so upset with this purchase. I had wanted a really good mixer for years and when I finally am able to afford one it is the biggest let down. It first was uneven when mixing and beaters hit the sides, then the whisk has fallen apart and know the coating on the K beater is falling off and I have had bits in my cakes!! I am so upset with this as I can't afford to buy a good mixer again.
For the price it is very disapointing and replacement parts are too expensive.

It looks like your mixer height in the bowl was incorrect and was set too low in the bowl. You adjust the height with the screw that you can see in the middle of the hinge when you lift up the mixer head.

After 10 years of wishing I had a self mixing machine I finally got one. Only to be extremely disappointed when after I'd place all the ingredients in the bowl I switched the machine on and it wouldn't run. The Motor is defective. I'm so disappointed in this machine that I'm going to stick to my Old cheap hand held. I'm Furious!!!
Nil, I have no positive feedback at all

I had a KitchenAid bowl-lift mixer, and I decided to pass that on to my daughter who was to give me her old Sunbeam. Instead, my husband bought me this one to replace my KA.
Perhaps if all I'd ever had was a hand-held, I would've thought this one to be fantastic. However, I was a pastry cook and have been using planetary mixers for years.
In addition to this Kenwood, have a 10L commercial mixer which I use for larger batches and breads. I use the smaller mixer for simple cakes, and small pizza dough recipes (3 cups of flour). And it seem...Read more
s to struggle to get started when it comes to a small batch of pizza dough. While it was kneading, it looked like it was going to rip the head off the machine. Pizza dough is pretty soft, so I find that worrying. My old KA would do bagel dough, which was much stiffer. I wouldn't even dream of doing that in this machine. When I went to make meringue and whip cream recently, I was disappointed at how slow the highest speed is. My husband was watching and actually apologised! I said it would get the job done, just not as quickly. This machine is overpriced for what it is, but the KitchenAid is even worse in Australia. The same KA models can be bought in the USA for less than half the price here, in spite of our dollar being nearly equal to the USD - and freight here isn't THAT expensive. Because the importers are ripping us off so badly, in marketing the KA as an "aspirational" purchase (while Americans can buy them in discount warehouse stores!), we see this Kenwood machine - with its similar looks and accessories and claimed wattage - as an acceptible alternative. It is clearly not.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Totally disappointed in this Kenwood, I cannot believe they can sell something so bad to us and get away with it. It would not pull the skin of a rice pudding. I wanted a kitchenaid but thought they were too expensive, false economy because now I have something I paid $300 for and will end up in the bin and now I will have to spend over $600 to get something decent. Never again will I buy a Kenwood, had the same experience with one of their food processors, total waste of money. They need to wake up to the rubbish they are selling.
Everything. Wont whisk egg whites, wont cream butter and sugar and not as good as the old Kenwood I had for over 30 years.

Very disappointed. Wish I'd read these reviews first. I wanted a stand alone mixer for making cakes but I should have stuck to my hand held beater.
Very little- pleasing to the eye. Attchments go on and come off easy.
Only one large size bowl which is no good when you have a small quantity. The attachments dont reach the bottom of the bowl leaving ingredients unmixed. Useless if you want to cream butter and sugar. Very slow.

Big Disappointment!
Mixer paddle doesn't go to the bottom of the bowl, so ingredients don't get mixed properly. Also a big disappointment in the power deparment. Overall was very sorry I bought this mixer.
doesn't mix properly, not powerful enough

Your mixer height needed adjusting. You turn the screw in the middle of the hinge. You see it when you lift up the mixer head. Its right there in the middle of the hinge.

I love that it is red and pops out in my white kitchen. Its works well for what I want it to do.Very reliable, attachments come off easily, very VERY quiet, and easy to clean.
I sometimes have to stir the bottom of the bowl into the mixture before proceeding as it doesnt always do that well enough for me.
