Have had my car for 3 years and I love it
I have had my car for 3 years and I would highly recommend a Kia Cerato to anyone. I generally use it for day to day city driving but occasionally use it to do long country drives to interstate location and it never skips a beat. Having a 7 year warranty gives me so much peace of min I will definitely purchase another Kia
Purchased in July 2021 at Kia Dealers.

Ex-demo... Purchased in June 1917 (EOFY) at a reasonable price with 7 year warranty and just now ticking over 30k km. Happy with the economy at 6.4L/100km. Ride is smooth despite the rough country roads we travel on, great leg room front and back and the boot space is fabulous ...well able to contain a collapsible wheelchair of late and still have room left over...with smooth auto transmission and great acceleration when needed. All in all very happy with what we got. Hoping it continues!

Reliable, long time car
My KIA is fantastic! it has seen me through many many years of driving. It is a great car to drive and a great size for safety, handling, family needs and holidaying. Very fuel efficient and easy to drive. Has withstood the test of time. Would highly recommend for a first car.

Reliable Runaround
Our Kia is almost 8 years old and has done over 140000kms. Mostly used for short to medium trips up to 100kms. It is an easy car to drive that handles well. Has plenty of head and leg room. The 2.0 Ltr motor provides plenty of power. This demo model was an excellent buy at $15k driveaway, never missed a beat. Servicing has seen nothing other than tyres to be replaced. It has also survived 2 learner drivers learning how to drive a manual. With servicing at 15000 kms intervals it is great value. I would definitely consider another Cerato when the time comes.

Great car with a couple of exceptions...
We own two Auto's Sand Beige and Black. The Sand Beige has done 115,00km and the black has done 150,000km for some reason exactly the same cars but the black one is noticeably lacking in power. The brakes on both suffer from brake squeal. They tow a 6x4 trailer with ease. Fully optioned for a budget car. He have been happy from the day we got them with the exception of the aforementioned issues. Yes, I would buy another Kia but would also consider a Hyundai as they are from the same family of car makers.
2016 - Recently fitted a set of DBA slotted rotors and heavy duty rear suspension to one of our Cerato's we use for towing. No brake squeal. Performs better than a new car. Very happy.

Kia Cerato = smart buying
I just traded my 2006 Auto Cerato with 130k's on the clock. What a great littler car. Never any trouble, comfortable, quiet and reasonably powerful, better than Corolla or many other popular cars. The Kia badge is still an issue but I couldn't be more happy with it. I was sad to see it go and whoever buys i will be getting a good car. BTW I just bought the new 2015 Si Cerato 2 litre. Yahoo.

Most reliable car I have ever owned.
With sadness, I say goodbye to my 2005 Cerato sedan this month. Yes, I've traded it in on a 2015 Cerato SLi sedan.
For its era, it was an extremely well optioned, well sorted car. Good handling, excellent performance, comfortable suspension, and a great options package for a budget car in 2005.
I bought 3 of them at the time, 2 autos and a manual, all for the same family. The other 2 both now have approx. 150,000 km on the clock. My personal one, one of the auto's, has just hit 250,000 !!

RVICING, HAD A SPANNER USED ON THEM. Nothing. Nada. Absolutely rock solid reliable. The engines are still sound, still perform well, and still get the same 8l/100km economy as they did when they were brand new. The gearboxes still work fine, the suspension is still as good as it was new. If I have a single complaint, its already been mentioned by a previous poster. The manual version has an extremely light, on-or-off clutch which takes a heck of a lot of getting used to. Interestingly I have a friend with a 2011 manual 6-speed with the same issue. It works fine, its reliable but just takes getting used to. That is also a great car by the way.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

The first of the good cars from Kia
I bought the 2007 model Cerato in march 2007. I chose the automatic version and optioned it with the optional ABS and safety package. It was one of the first Cerato's to have this option. My previous car had been a V6 holden Vn Commodore (slightly modified). Firstly I noticed the car was a fair bit quieter than the Commodore and had considerably less pickup. The seats were comfortable but lacked an adjustable lumbar support. The seat reclined by lever action and by large increments. The automatic was smooth, acceleration was adequate. The brak...Read more
es were great and reliable. Cup holders were great and perfect for large and small drinks. Stereo was great and played cd and MP3. I found mp3 recorded discs tended to heat up and skip after several hrs of playing. Boot space was good. I also optioned the car with an rear spoiler and the dealer fitted an after market one. The car was serviced regularly and never gave me any problems. A 3yr unlimited km warranty was offered at the time and the only thing claimed was a new electric antenna which refused to work properly near the end of the warranty. While it was never exceptional in any area I found the car to be very reliable. Until this model I would never have considered a Kia at all. Kia's have slowly improved over the yrs and an unlimited km warranty only confirms Kia's confidence in their product. Basically a good car with few faults and cheap motoring although a little thirsty in the city traffic. The cruise control (standart on the auto) was fantastic on country roads even if it made the auto hunt for gears.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Kia Cerato EX 2006 Hatchback
Bought this car from new in 2006. The only problem we had was the alarm started going off after 6 months however the problem was fixed under warranty and never happened again. For a mid sized 4 cylinder 5 speed manual car it had all the extras we wanted and more. It was at the right price compared to other cars in this category. It has been very reliable, easy to drive, easy to park, and is good on fuel. Servicing it myself these days and cost less than a Corolla although last month we did pay our local mechanic to replace the timing belt, ten...Read more
sioner and other belts at 117,000 kms. The timing belt kit was very well priced and in some cases less than other car manufacturers charge. Now our daughter is learning to drive in it and will take it over as her car when we buy our 2014 model. Would recommend it to others wanting a good 2nd car or new drivers as they don't hold their value they are much better value buy than a Ford or Toyota of this age and sized car. Easy to drive, full of features including cruise control, a practical hatchback! Stereo quality could have been better.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Very reliable and comfortable
I bought the 2008 hatchback a year ago and have been very happy with it. I downgraded from a 6cyl to a 4cyl and haven't been disappointed. It accelerates nicely when I need it to. The rear seats fold down to allow me to put my bike in or various hardware bits and pieces. Just had it written off due to hail damage though :-( Very sad to lose this car. Was told by insurance assessor that they don't hold their value for resale.
Powerful for a 4cyl, inexpensive, good fuel economy.
Under-warranty servicing can be expensive but I guess it's nothing compared to some cars!

I wouldn't buy one
I was given a Cerato sedan from a rental company while my car was being repaired. I knew straight away it wasn't a good car. Yes it does have some features that I was surprised about, but to drive the car, it was shocking. Completely hopeless up hills and I constantly felt I needed to correct the steering while driving in a straight line. I drove the auto with sequential shift and I was always flicking the shifter over to see what gear the car had chosen, due to it's unusual gear changes. At times I'd be traveling at 40km when the car was in to...Read more
p gear, I'd plant my foot to go down one gear, but I found it easier and more fuel efficient to change manually. It does drink, in the few days of frustratingly trying to drive inner city it used twice as much as my SUV. I've worked for many different car dealerships, and have driven 60 different types of new cars, never have I driven a car quite as bad as this, you do get what you pay for... It's really cheap Sluggish, uncomfortable, thirsty, terrible gearboxSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent
I have been a mechanic for 35 years and owned many vehicles in that time. The 2005 Kia Cerato has to be one of the best I have seen. It's conservative style, roomy interior and 2lt engine makes it an excellent vehicle for everyday use.
The engine is powerful yet economical and is matched very nicely to the 4sp auto transmission. The transmission is strong and smooth most of the time but gets confused for a while if you change your driving style. This has to do with the 'intelligent' transmission module that tries to understand how we drive.

Fantastic car which looks and drives well. Would recommend my 2007 model Cerato to any buyer in the market for a mid sized car. I couldn't justify the extra money spent on a Holden, Ford or Toyota (or any other manufacturers car for that matter) for a lower powered car or similarly powered car.
Fantastic fuel economy, great price. Loaded with most things other manufacturers charge extra for. Great to drive and looks great (sedan purchased with spoiler), tiptronic auto. COLD airconditioning, power everything (almost). Feels solidly built. Great ...Read more

Best car I have ever had! Always getting complements on what a nice car & how comfortable it is. I feel proud to drive it and everyone says how well it suits me and they love the colour. I am very seriously looking at putting one on the road a taxi that is how rapped I am with the Cerato. It a great car and has a real sex appeal about it particularly the sedan. I bought the car on looks and colour and after taking it for test drive I feel in love with it, it has got great power and guts especially up hills and out on the highway it purrs along ...Read more
very nicely it never misses a beat. I would recommend it has a family car or to fleets wanted a nice stylish car to impress their clients and it has heaps of boot space in it i was very surprised at the big boot I carry a lot of stock for my job and I still have plenty of room to spare in the boot. I have only had to put the back seats down twice to fit in long items and i had no troubles getting then in. Who says u need a station wagon. I don't. The Kia Cerato is the best car I have ever owned and I will certainly look at getting another one in 5 or years when i need to replace it so Kia don't get rid of this TOP AND GREAT looking Car! WELL DONE KIA! I think the Kia Cerato is great i have had one now for two years and I cant fault it, very stylish car and very comforatable. There is nothing I dislike about itSimilar opinion? Good
I've had mine for 3 years now, no major problems, serviced regularly, no problems with the guys at the service centre-they've been helpful and efficient, especially when the fuel tank was nearly empty and I could't get the door-catch to release so I could fill up, seems the catch needed a little bending, apparently more of a problem in the hatch-backs than sedans, but he knew exactly what to do & fixed it immediately.
All up I don't regret buying this car at this stage, and have no problems recommending it to anyone else.

You cannot ask of much from this car for it gives you everything from things you want to things that you don't need but could come in handy.
Nice looking car with multiple features that everyone wants for such a great car, with a nice interior, large number of controlls and easy to stear and a smooth ride.

We purchased our Kia Cerato secondhand from a dealer when it was just two years old. The car has given us no problems and we recently took it on a long road trip and it was very fuel efficient, reliable and comfortable for a family car. The car is very affordable to buy near new and is nice to drive around a city or on long distance trips. It has plenty of extras and a nice interior design and everything you could ask for. We plan to keep the car for a long time.
Great looking car, very fuel efficient, extremely comfortable to drive, affordable price.

We bought this car two years ago and I really have enjoyed driving it after moving up to a sedan from a hatchback. I think that for what you pay, this car is value for money. It is economical on fuel and looks good. We have the 2007 model and have had no problems with it at all. Drives smoothly around the city and we have also taken it on longer trips. It looks good.
Looks good, feels solid, nice family car. Easy to drive.
One of the main problems I have found is the light coloured interior is hard to keep clean and does not look that good after a while.

Overall a good package for the price.
No problems with my car after 55,000km, considering that I stress my car quite frequently with hard acceleration and revving the engine to red-line.
This car is a good friend of mine for more than 3 years.
Spacious Interior, heavy but solid/hard body to withstand knocks as compare to other Japanese cars. Quite stable at high speed, cornering and some ambitious over-taking and lane change.1.6L engine has top-end power if you're willing to use more revs. Wheel size much bigger than its competitors (able to change to 17" rims with 215/45/R17 tyres found in bigger cars).
Some interior hard plastics looks a little lower grade when touched, but visually still comparable to other Japanese makes.
