Ideal unit

published

This unit has been in use for over 6 years - it had a life keeping up batteries on board a yacht running 1 to 2 hours nearly each day for 2 years a holiday for 1 year -and the last 3 maintaining a solar powered bush site batteries running 1 to 3 hours per day nearly every day. It died with a fault in the invertor module and the cost was so excessive ( $450 ) hat I decided to purchase a new unit and keep the older unit for spares. Long like is assured if you use GOOD oil and change it regularly. Purchased from Bunnings whom were deleting Kipor from their stock at the time. Sale price to me was about $550.

Inverter broken

published

Was terrific when it worked but only lasted about 25 hrs before it stopped producing power. The motor runs and starts well. Have been told cost to much to fix. The importer told me they just replace the whole unit if it is under warranty. Now it just sits in the shed looking brand new and mocking me!
Very disappointed

Only one problem

published

I run a 25 amp battery charger and 80 litre fridge with no problems. The only problem I have had is with starting and by removing the on off starter and carefully cleaning behind it it again started with no problems. If by turning the on off selector and not hearing an audible click the generator will never start.

Excellent

I run this little generator on my houseboat to top up up my house batteries (solar doesn't quite put enough power back in). I run a 20 amp charger, a TV, media centre, lights and small fridge while the gennie is running. On occasion I have forgotten to check the oil and the gennie switches off which saves the motor. Probably needs oil topping up every 15 hours or so. A great little unit, very economical only uses about 1/3 litre of petrol per hour.

Great for small jobs

published

Have used one of these for a week solid, powering a side-by-side fridge freezer, TV, home phone and internet gear, lighting and phone charging. Performs admirably. As the manual states though, smart throttle is best left switched off if you have a big fridge cycling. Good economy, would readily get 5 to 6 hours from the 2.6 litre tank, whether smart throttle was on or not. Definitely has me looking favourably at the bigger models for something I can run multiple fridges and/or washers from.

Gday - you have a great little unit my unit has been running for 8 years for 3 to 4 hours most days when the sun does not shine - I have this problem and it was solved by replacing the inverter unit inside the case- they are not repairable - suggest you look for 1 on ebay and a competent handy man can replace it PROVIDED he takes his time - currently available for about $350 AUD - good luck - if you want to sell it give me a another post
