Bought matching toaster and kettle
Artisan KMT223I bought the kettle and toaster at the same time and I am very happy with the products. Some reviews are I believe are over critical, though some models may have a design fault they are generally rectified. This applies to anything you buy. My only criticism is being unable to register the products on-line, it wouldn't recognise my address and insisted I had the wrong serial number of the kettle.

Artisan KMT223We toast crumpets, Italian bread, sour dough bread, turkish bread, sliced bread-none of the settings work well, either it does brown enough or it burns, we have had the toaster for over 6 months, have tried every setting to no avail. We are very disappointed and think fondly of our last toaster, a fraction of the price and toasted well, we had wanted a bigger toaster so bought this one- it has put me off Kitchen Aid for life!

Artisan KMT423I am very satisfied with my Kitchen Aid toaster.
After reading so many reviews on this site about so many toasters, there did not seem to be any toaster that was highly recommended. I could not imagine that there are so many bad toasters in the world!
I was completely at a loss which toaster to buy, and I was not prepared to pay $300+ . After weeks of deliberation I decided on this one, and much to my relief it’s a winner.
my only adverse comment is that it is slow to toast crumpets. Apart from that I am very happy
great toaster but the overly loud beep makes this impractical for us
Artisan KMT423after reading many reviews of toasters, we were convinced that the KitchenAid KMT423 was the perfect toaster for us. the toaster toasts perfectly but the loud and unnecessary beep to announce the toast is going down and then again o announce the toasting has finished, is annoying and disruptive. If you are a shift worker or have a baby sleeping don't get this toaster - it wakes everyone. I emailed KitchenAid on 12/9/18 and received an auto response that we would be contacted within 10 business days (Your Contact Reference Number is KAU CS 93

Our other KitchenAid appliances Mixmaster KSM1500 and KitchenAid Blender have been faultless in performance and results. So KitchenAid products are generally extremely good quality. Our issue with the toaster is that we were not advised by the sales consultant of the loud beeping and it is not detailed on the packaging, otherwise we would have steered clear. Why there is a loud beep, twice for each operation, is the question. If the toaster toasts expediently, why would a designer want to remind the operator that the toast is going down and now it is coming up again. A totally unnecessary 'feature'? in my opinionHi Kyneton,

Love it!
Artisan KMT423I love my toaster. It's easy and modern, I use fresh or frozen bread, crumpets,... Settings are easy to work with. Fully automatic, so bread goes down and up on it's on. Beep sounds when ready. My bread comes evenly toasted and it's efficient. It's very easy to clean as well. I'm happy with it and would recommend.

Artisan KMT223This toaster is turning into one of the biggest disappointments of my life!! Very picky about my toaster and thought I'd do the right thing and buy a 'good one'! Toast takes ages to cook however and often it is unevenly toasted when apparently its ready. Have to have it on setting of at least 6 as otherwise nothing happens to the bread......You can forget about crumpets - who has an hour to waste to get the right level of toasting! The heating elements seem ''uneven" in that one side is often 'redder' than the other....... very close to putting

Artisan KMT423Had toaster for a week. Makes perfect toast and calls you when its ready. Simultaneously toasted crumpets one side and toast on the other. Works fine and then turns itself off if unused.
The crumpet mode requires 2 cycles of toasting, but tell me what toaster has ever got the crumpet mode down to one toast cycle.
For toasting bread it cant be beat. Crumpets on the second toasting cycle are perfect by the way!
Bitterly disappointed
Artisan KMT423We bought a kitchen aide toaster on the suggestion of the salesman at GoodGuys. We were told we were buying a quality product. It worked for about a month. Not Happy Jan
Artisan KMT223I bought a Kleenmaid 223 toaster in March 2017 took it back to the place of purchase in August 2017, neither element was working, they were very happy to replace it (Harvey Norman Moorabbin) I have just tried toasting a piece of toast and the elements have stopped working again. I don't think I will replace it with another one, they are not the cheapest toaster you can buy, they certainly don't work any better than a cheap one or last as long as a cheap one.
I don't think I will buy another Kleenmaid product they are trading only on past product performances.

Artisan KMT423Not happy with this toaster at all. I have not once been able to get a piece of toast which is evenly toasted. To get the middle section to toast nicely, the crusts have to be burnt. Also the toast comes our unevenly toasted on one side most of the time. For the price you would think they could get it right. So disappointed! Swapping it over for a cheap Sunbeam.

Artisan KMT423We had an early model KitchenAid toaster for approx 10 years and it was great so we decided to upgrade to the latest model. We bought a new unit just after Christmas and when we got the unit home the adjustable temp display to one side was not working properly. If you set it to 4 it would jump from 4 to 7 and back to 2 or 3 on its own. We took the unit back and got a replacement from Myer. When we got the new unit home we found only half the elements worked so only the left half of the toaster worked. We are very disappointed and are tossing up whether to try for a 3rd unit or get our money back and buy another brand. Such a shame as we also have a lot of other KitchenAid items which we use regularly and love.

2 year warranty. Stopped working at 2 years, 3 months
Artisan KMT223I was pleased with myself for buying a premium product that had a 2 year warranty. Of course, the toaster ceased working just outside warranty. Artisan KMT223I bought my KtichenAid "Artisan" toaster and matching kettle a few months ago. It looks fantastic (mine is a beautiful dark red); however after my trusty old Sunbeam "Cafe" Series which I'd had since 2006, this one took a while to get used to. It is solid and well made, and I love the electronic display and push button instead of a lever to operate. I do find the unit is very sensitive to the type of bread used, and it took some trial and error to get to "know it". For example, dense rye or grain bread has to be used on at Setting #5, where

Maybe just my machine, but depending on bread thickness, this unit doesn't toast evenly sometimes - ie, the top half of the toast will be cooked and bottom half a bit underdone. Overall I'm happy with it (a koala would want to be for the price; KitchenAid products are expensive). However, I doubt it will last 10 years like my old Sunbeam (I'd actually rate this toaster 3.5 stars).really good toaster,

Love this toaster
Artisan KMT423At last. An engineer of consummate taste and sensitivity has put some thought into the design of the humble toaster. Instead of continuing to use the tried and tested technology of a 15th century crossbow Kitchenaid have employed the use of a recent invention called electricity to lower the slice at the press of a button. In my old Sunbeam the unfortunate staff of life would be tortured in a place of torment as its pale flesh roasted and dehydrated to a carbonised crisp before it would be catapulted into oblivion. Instead it now reclines in the warmth of a bronzing sun until it is ready to be elevated to the surface by sublime engineering where it is piped aboard by I single beep.
And the toast tastes all the better for it.

Artisan KMT423Bought one of these when previous toaster died. Strangely it toasts very "Dry", if that makes sense. Like the motor up/down feature, we have worked out our respective settings (3 on the left for me, and 4 on the right for her). One frustration is the beeper. When one is up, trying to get breakfast before the house wakes, the loud beep on completion is a nuisance. Artisan KMT423We recently replaced our old Breville with this 4-slice KitchenAid one.
Upshot is that it looks a lot better than it toasts! On the max setting (7) it takes ages to toast and once done the toasting is uneven - this is using regular unfrozen brown bread (Helgas). Every now and then you have to re-toast the bread, which seems crazy having just spent ages toasting it already at the full setting!
I note that all of these toasters appear to have reduced the amount of Watts they run at, not sure the reasoning as it surely will use a similar amount of electricity as you have to toast for longer due to the lower power.
Now to see if I can take it back as it really isnt fit for purpose!

Artisan KMT223I expected this to be a great toaster, given the brand and the price. It looks great, but that's it's only good point.
I toast bagels, same brand, same setting every time. They never come out the same, the one setting will sometimes be dark brown, sometimes medium, which reflects the setting I choose and sometimes light and underdone, or sometimes patchy, some bits toasted, some bits not.
Worst toaster I have ever had, annoyed I wasted the money on what used to be a quality brand.
Have now gone back to a breville, doesn't look as pretty but at least I get consistant toast, which is kind of the point
Takes ages to toast a slice of bread!
ArtisanI purchased this toaster based on aesthetics to match my Artisan kettle. It takes over 5 minutes to toast a slice of bread from frozen. It beeps when it starts & finishes (similar to kettle) which I find irritating. It doesn't toast evenly i.e. one side might be well toasted and the other hardly toasted at all! Artisan KMT223We have a lot of Kitchenaid appliances. Recently added the artisan toaster.
Slightly disappointed that a little more thought had not been put into the functions.
Pros
1. Toast cooks very evenly.
2. Cancel button instantly cancels the cycle not like my old toaster where I would franticly press the button a dozen times.

Artisan KMT423This toaster rocks! Perfect toast every time. When you press the button the toaster beeps and slowly lowers the toast, has a countdown timer so you can see how long your toast has left to toast. No more toast leaping out if the toaster onto the bench or floor, and if you are in another room you can hear the beep when it's ready. KitchenAid toaster - Brand support review
Artisan KMT223We made a mistake in 2009. Bought KitchenAid brand toaster, blender and stand mixer. Why, the mixers reputation.
