Speed Controller; Hello, can the speed control lever be used as "infinitely variable" or must it be clicked into the preset speeds ie 1 - 10. Thanks.
1 answer
The mixer speed is adjustable between the increments provided. Please note speed increases by units of 2 from 0 to 1 then 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10. Please note there is only limited speed adjustment between each of above speed divisions as at each of the above steps it clicks into the marked speed position.

Hi, I purchased a refurbished Kitchen Aid KSM160 Artisan Stand Mixer of Catch of the day and in the product description, it informed me I would receive a 2.8l stainless steel bowl as well. When unpackaging this product Christmas Day, the bowl was missing. Is there any reason for this? Thanks, Georgia.

What is the difference between KSM 150 and KSM 160?
1 answer
Thuy B.KitchenAid
Hi Maria,
Thanks for reaching out. The only difference between the KSM150 and KSM160 is the bowl accessories. The 160 includes an additional 2.8L mixing bowl to prepare smaller quantities. It also is available in a wider range of colours.

Hi there, I bought Kitchenaid KSM160 last week, because I am mainly making sourdough bread every week.
I was really excited to use it, but when I used it for making the sourdough, dough has came up the Beater shaft so many times, so I push down the dough every seconds..Is it normal or not normal??
This movement made me little bit upset..
I wasnt expecting like this and disappointed..
I added all ingredients about 1kg〜1.3kgs in it..
I thought it will fit maximum 1.5kgs isnt it?!
Also it has been really heated up on a Motor head, when I was mixing more than 20 mints..so I started to worried about is it ok??
Thank you for your time, I look forwards to hearing from you soon.
Yours sincerely,

Hi Kitty, I’m sorry to hear this! Are you using the bigger bowl? I was making a pavlova the other day & when I was eating the egg whites, this also crept up above the attachment. I just assumed I had too much in the bowl. I was using the large bowl too. My motor does not get hot at all. If I were you I’d be in touch with the seller of your mixer regarding it getting hot. I hope you do get positive results. I’d be interested to hear your outcome regarding the mixture creeping up above the attachment though. Regards, Sheree.

Hi I just bought KSM160 today at Peter’s of Kensington, I noticed that the metal line at the tilt head where the kitchen aid brand, artisan name and the speed number is loose! Is it really like that or I need it to be changed? Thanks

Has anyone had issues with the white paint colour going yellow?
2 answers
Hi I have purchased the KitchenAid magnetic torrent blender in metallic white colour. The body looks more yellow. I am waiting for a reply after sending picture to the enquirers email about two week ago
Mine arrived two tone with the back part being off white, but not quite yellow. It looked terrible.

Hello! I have just opened my kitchen aid (model KSM160 in pink) and noticed that the 'dough/kneeding' attachment has two deep dints in it! I'm super excited to start baking, but I'm hoping to get a replacement attachment? Do I have to take the whole set back to the store, or would you be able to send me a replacement attachment? I live in Ashwood, Melbourne. Thanks for your help in advance! Tash x

Is this a direct drive like the 170 model Which one should i buy ? Like the idea of 2 size bowls
2 answers
Hi, yes it is. I believe the only difference between the two models is that the KSM170 comes with a glass bowl only. There may be slight mixture capacity differences but the wattage and most other details appear to be the same. I had the same question and did my own comparison.
Thanks for that I ended up buying the Bakery Boss & good to have the 2 size bowls Im ver impressed with it

Hi, I received my KSM 160 today. Is it normal for paint to flake off at that back of the pivot mechanism when the head is tilted up? It doesn't seem right that it would be normal to wear the paint during a standard use of the product.
Thanks Leanne
2 answers
Hi Leanne, if by "back of pivot mechanism" you mean the vertical piece of metal which moves through the actual stand and supports the mixer head, then my answer would be no it is not normal. The paint is a baked enamel and is quite hardie. Possibly a miss-alignment on assembly?? No enamel paint should be falling off your brand new machine.
Suggest you take this up with your retailer.
Hi Leanne, you definitely shouldn’t have paint flaking off a brand new stand mixer... I imagine if it’s starting to come off where the head tilts, it will get worse very quickly!
I don’t know what’s going on with Kitchen Aid but the hub on my brand new KSM 160 started to fall off after I’d had it for about 3 weeks, they did the dodgiest repair ever using glue and it came back scratched and looking like it was 10 years old with the hub still loose. After a lot of fighting and 4 weeks of constant phone calls I got it replaced with a brand new one that came out of the box chipped, scratched and dented. The third replacement had a huge dent in the drip ring and I gave up after that...
I’d suggest not going directly to Kitchen Aid for any sort of help - I emailed customer service to complain after the third KSM 160 was also damaged and they honestly took 13 days to write back and even then, they didn’t offer any solutions and asked for the serial number... I’m still not sure which of the 3 they meant though! So yeah, they obviously dont have enough staff to handle all the complaints and don’t care enough to hire more staff to try to sort out customer issues.
Hopefully you have better luck than I did and the next one isn’t damaged straight up!

Hi, I recently purchased a KSM160 online from David Jones, due for delivery this week. In the picture used on the David Jones website it shows only the 4.8L bowl with the stand mixer, but it doesn't show the 2.8L bowl. Also in the product description, no mention of the 2.8L bowl. I've noticed on other retailer websites that KSM160 has both bowls. Does David Jones have a different KSM160 product exclusive to them?
1 answer
Belle AKitchenAid
Hi Johnny, The KSM160 comes with the second 2.8L bowl, a couple of the colours on the David Jones website do not have the second bowl displayed. If you purchased the KSM150 however, this only comes with the 4.8L bowl. If you have any further questions, we are happy to help. Kind Regards, The KitchenAid Team

I have the one pictured above. it just doesn't seem to cream butter and sugar to a fluffy creamy constituency like my old hand held electric beaters used to. Any suggestions?
1 answer
Belle AKitchenAid
Hi Sue, a couple of things may be contributing here; are you using the Flat Beater, Flex Edge Beater or Wire Whisk for this and how long are you running the Stand Mixer for? Have you had a look at the beater to bowl clearance of your Stand Mixer? If you check the guide here on page 7 you can find instructions; https://kitchenaid.com.au/sites/default/files/5KSM160PSAWH.pdf
If you are still having trouble please email us at [email protected] and we can assist you. Kind Regards, The KitchenAid Team

Hi Maya, if you send through your email, preferred contact number and delivery address, and the serial number of your Stand Mixer (code beginning with W, you can find this on the sticker on the base of your machine) to [email protected] I will pass this onto our Customer Service Team who will send a new one out. can you grind grains with this mixer? How did it go? Nice and fine flour?

I haven't done this but would say the grinder discs would not grind fine enough for this. Works great for grinding meat & vegetables though.

Hi would like to know what is the difference between ksm150 and ksm160 in term of performance? Thanks in advance for your inputs.
3 answers
I haven't owned both, but I have checked the specifications. They have the same motor, bowl and mixer, so there should be no difference in performance.
I have the KSM160 and at point of sale was informed they were the same as KSM150 engine wise, but The 160 came eith extra stainless steel bowl and a plastic splash guard for the rim of the bowl
thanks PKos!! it helped me a lot to choose which one i should get!!!
