Purchased new mixer in December 2022, the beater chipped the first time I used it, I’ve contacted customer service 4 times since 26 December, still no reply and it’s February. Pathetic! I do not recommend this company or it’s product.

Beautiful piece of machinery
Very good quality machine, with strong motor and excellent workmanship.
Would have liked an extra bowl as in for the KSM160 machine, however I choose colour over the extra bowl as it matched my cook processor.
Great capacity bowl for a large family.
Purchased in November 2021 at The Chefs Toolbox for $499.00.

Beware the standards are slipping but the price is still very premium
I purchased a KitchenAid stand mixer for my mother since she has wanted one for so long and just never has the money for it. The stand mixer itself is very nicely made, the paint job is beautiful and it looks nice. But....for a mixer that is easily double the price of other leading brands [RRP] you aren't getting the premium you are paying for. The bowls with this mixer aren't well made. In the larger bowl I could easily see three lumps that looked like dents in the bowl sides. But when I touched them there is no dent. This is clearly a machini...Read more
ng process without good tolerances that enable the bowl to be anything except perfectly round. In a budget $99 mixer, you would accept this. In a near $1000 mixer you can't. The stainless bowl on my mothers $300 budget mixer in comparison is absolutely perfect even after 10yrs of use. This is the only mixer on the market giving you an aluminium whisk attachment. Even the cheapest mixers on the market give you a stainless one. There just isn't any excuse for this at all in a mixer asking almost a grand. You get the impression that Kitchenaid are just riding on their reputation and cutting corners everywhere in the process. The rest of the beaters are aluminium also which is standard, and at least these ones are powder coated white. But what I can't understand is the lack of finishing on them. You can easily see the casting lines on these attachments, something that would be a 3 min job on a grinder to get rid of before it was powder coated, giving you a product that looks as premium as it's price tag. The motor is less noisy than other brands and the direct drive is what enables a kitchenaid to function well with a 300 watt motor while it's competitors used 1200 watts. But that alone cannot justify the price given the poor quality of the rest of the parts. For the price I absolutely expected the worlds best mixer, with nicely finished parts and a stainless steel whisk. What I got was a nicely finished motor with attachments so cheap they would embarrass a mid-range $300 model. If you want to claim to be the best and slap a price tag on it few can really afford then at least deliver in the premium category. If you buy a kitchenaid I absolutely recommend only buying their basic 300W tilt head model and buying aftermarket attachments for it which are bound to be better quality than the ones that come with the machine. Despite the confusing array of model numbers all the (300W) tilt head machines are the same, it's only the number of attachments in the box which differ. None of the kitchenaid brand attachments are anything to write home about. Aftermarket ones would be an improvement and also cheaper.Purchased in May 2021.

Poor Product
Very disappointed in our Kitchenaid mixer. We are lucky to use it once a month and just after 5 years (warranty period) it has failed. It trips the circuit breaker after 3-4 minutes of use. I would have thought that for the amount of money we pay for this product and the amount of use, it would have lasted much longer. Called Kitchenaid direct and said there is nothing they can do because its out of warranty...
My mum has a Kenwood mixer which is over 30 years old, beats the kitchenaid hands down.
I would never buy another kitchenaid branded product again!!!!!

A must have for every kitchen.
My new KSM170 kitchen aid stand mixer beats a treat. In no time at all using the 2.5 liter mixing bowl I whipped up a gorgeous pavlova then topped it off with whipped cream beaten up in the same mixer. The family was really impressed and demolished the pavlova in no time at all. The 2.5 and 4.8 litre stainless steel mixing bowls and 4.7litre glass mixing bowl are easily interchanged between the two kitchen stand mixers I currently have in use in my kitchen. My existing mixer has been happily in service in my kitchen for over 20 years giving me no problems at all. I have successfully used the mincing and spiralising attachments with it. The specializing attachment is the best of its type I have seen in the market place.

Disappointing purchase overall! Avoid at all costs!
Have used my Kitchenaid stand mixer KSM-170 a couple times so far. To make pasta dough and a couple cakes. In the dough making function/exercise the mixer is really unstable and you need to hold the units head firmly. Not what i expected from the Kitchenaid and the KSM-170. The general purpose and dough hook also comes in contact with the glass bowl. Have adjusted as requested by KitchenAid. Spoken to support and have been offered limited support. Emailed this week and they refuse to reply to offer support. The mixer and experience has been ver...Read more
y disappointing. Poor effort Kitchenaid. I also purchased this month (Dec 2018) the blender and food processor. The blender experience has been a lot better than the Mixer KSM-170. Have only used the food processor once. Wish to return every kitchenaid product I have purchased now, stand mixer KSM170, Blender and food process plus all attachments that have not been used. Avoid Kitchenaid products at all cost. Support centre is poor.1 comment

Don't bank on the warranty
I bought this KSM170 stand mixer a few months ago, had no cause to use it for a while and when I did, I noticed a fault in the paint finish and that the chrome base was badly scratched. The unit was also very poorly adjusted and when I used the dough hook for the first time the machine was unbelievably jumpy and noisy before grinding to a halt - and I had to make a very large adjustment to ensure it started working properly.
Very apparent to me that this was a "second" that was not disclosed as such and the manufacturer response was that unles...Read more

Don’t know what I was waiting for.
Really happy with this product. Put of spending the money and one day bit the bullet.
Least regrettable purchase you’ll ever make. The quality is exceptional. I have the gunmetal grey look one with the glass bowl.
The bowl is dishwasher safe and so easy to clean considering it’s size.
The speeds come in a variety and good amount of options to choose from.
Comes with 3 different attachments - my favourite is the kneader and making pasta has never been easier.
Would highly recommend.

Jammed beater first time used
Well the beater is jammed on first use so not happy
What more can I say?
Irritated beyond belief now I have to take it back to shop
I purchased three at the same time so I hope when I now have to open the boxes which were Christmas presents that I can put them back in ant the beaters aren’t jammed

The best looking appliance out there!
We purchased our gorgeous Candy Apple Red KitchenAid KSM170 Stand Mixer two weeks ago and we're in love. What a sturdy and good looking kitchen appliance. Easy to use and highly functional, we're happy with our investment! We've tried many different brands over the years and they don't seem to withstand the test of time so we're hopeful this beauty will.
We've also just purchased the meat grinder attachment (the other attachments are quite expensive and some [the food processor] don't look overly functional on YouTube reviews...) and can't w...Read more
ait to try that out. But so far as the mixer goes, we're impressed. It's easy to simply say "but it's just a stand mixer" yet it's really so much more than that. It's an icon and a focal point in our kitchen, and more importantly, it's helped me to uncover a new found love of cooking and baking. Thanks KitchenAid! Best mixer ever
Purchased from Myer Highpoint.Staff very helpful. Product performs a lot better then the previous Smeg. Only comes with glass mixing bowl but the stainless steel bowls were on special so purchased them also. It's very quiet but powerfully. Mixing blades reach the bottom of bowl so you can beat even 1 or 2 eggs comfortably. Amazing mixer. Wife loves her kitchenaid.

Can't imagine my life without it
Excellent product but don't rely on getting through quick if you need customer service .
They were good to talk to after 3 days of long waits on phone.
I rang and rang and waited and waited for ever you get through eventually speaking to a nice young lady who was quick to help.

Love my KitchenAid
I've had my KitchenAid Stand Mixer (hot pink) for almost 2 years and I love it. I also have most of the attachments (next purchase will be the pasta maker) and they are great too. Makes food prep much quicker and food items are cut/sliced/diced evenly and consistent throughout.
I enjoy looking on the KitchenAid website for new recipe ideas too! It's a very versatile machine

It's alright
I feel as though this mixer doesn't really greatly impact me and my cooking experience. It's is cheaper to get a regular mixer and doesn't really require too much effort. Yes, it is easier to mix because I can set a speed and walk away but I'm not really concerned with having to leave the mixer

Is there a bowl scraper whipping accessory for KSM170
A stainless bowl and pour cover that will fit the stainless bowl.
1 answer
I got a pour cover with my KSM160 and it seems a little big for the large stainless steel bowl so I suppose the one you can purchase from KitchenAid would fit. I know the beating attachment has a scraper on it that you can purchase, not sure if it comes with the KSM170. I didn’t get it with my KSM160
