Hi - I'm interested in purchasing a 5KSM45AOB Classic Stand Mixer but there is very little information available for this model. It is not mentioned in any of the reviews on this page - is it an old/'new model? - it's available at a variety of stores, but it is not mentioned anywhere on the Kitchenaide website either.
Has anyone used this machine?
I'm wondering also what extras can be used with it - in particular a smaller bowl and the flex edge beater?
Thanks in advance
Brett

Hi Brett. This is the new model. Only downside is it only comes with large glass bowl. Check out myer website for all info or call myer highpoint and speak to the lady in charge. She knows everything about kitchenaid.yes it can be used with smaller bowl. My wife purchased all the bowls as they were on special.

I am looking purchase either the 150 or 160 model. I am curious to know if people find the larger bowl (ie only bowl with the 150) can successfully deal with small quantities, eg creaming small amounts of butter and sugar. With my old mixer I often found the ingredients would stick to the sides of the bowl and not incorporate well. Thank you.

Hi Hannah, I suppose like any mixer you can have issues with small amounts but especially creaming I warm the metal bowl with some water from a recently boiled Kettle, dry it then add ingredients, it works well. Overall though unless it's really cold I don't tend to have any problems and I bake a few times a week for my family. Hope this helps. Celia
I have only just received my replacement and have only made a packet mix with it and it worked fine My only advice would be to buy from myer because they replaced my mixer immediately and kitchenaid wanted to repair it I bought artisan 150
I have never had any great problems here but I don't bake a lot.

Hi I just bought KSM160 today at Peter’s of Kensington, I noticed that the metal line at the tilt head where the kitchen aid brand, artisan name and the speed number is loose! Is it really like that or I need it to be changed? Thanks

I have bought KSM170 with 4.7L glass bowl. I would like to buy spare bowl preferably metallic. Which one is suitable for this model?
Kind regards
Marina

Hi Marina .. from looking at the kitchenaid website it seems that the glass bowl you have fits the ksm 150/160 models so I would presume then the metal bowls for those models should fit yours.

Has anyone had issues with the white paint colour going yellow?

Hi I have purchased the KitchenAid magnetic torrent blender in metallic white colour. The body looks more yellow. I am waiting for a reply after sending picture to the enquirers email about two week ago
Mine arrived two tone with the back part being off white, but not quite yellow. It looked terrible.

4.7 bowl. If I purchase a 4.8 bowl will I need to change the height of the beater. Will the bowl of a 2.8 autofit?

Hi Tess, You will not need to adjust the beater to bowl clearance for the new bowl, the beater should sit the same in any bowl. Kind Regards, The KitchenAid Team

I see that the good guys have the following model of Kitchen Aid stand mixer on sale at the moment: 5KSM45AWH. When I search for this code I can’t find it anywhere else. Is anyone able to tell me if this is a discontinued model or does Kitchen Aid simply use a different model number? If different model number, what is it? Thank you.

Belle AKitchenAid
Hi Rachel, The KSM45AWH is a new Stand Mixer exclusive the The Good Guys, that is why it is not available on other websites, or in other stores. Kind Regards, The KitchenAid Team

I'm looking at getting a Classic stand mixer for my sister and just trying to compare it to the Artisan. Looking for a bit of guidance really. Wondering if the lower wattage will be noticeable? What is the size difference between the bowls? She bakes for her family and friends but not huge amounts and also has a Thermomix. Thanks for any help you can give. Chris

Belle AKitchenAid
Hi Christine, The Classic and Artisan have the same motor and will exert the same power, giving the same result. The Classic bowl is 4.3L brushed stainless steel, whilst the Artisan is 4.8L stainless steel with a handle. Kind Regards, The KitchenAid Team

All the 300W tilt models are the same machine. The difference is in the parts that ship with the models. The most basic model only ships with three beaters and one bowl. The higher end ones will ship with an extra bowl, a spill cover and a flex beater as well. Check the product descriptions carefully to see what's shipped with each. If you only want to do basic things then you might find the lowest end model to suit you and you can always buy the other items individually as you need them.
