Hi, Sara ... after 12mths of using you would need to descale any kettle . Thats what is on bottom its not rust .

Read morehey are bpa free so the fact this one does not say it anywhere … it isn’t… I am taking back to replace with a steel kettle and it breaks my heart cos I love the look of it too but it’s not worth your health to have plastic chemicals leeching into every cup as heat releases it from the plastic ….trust me do a bit of a google search!!!
