Hi I bought this kettle and it is only 18 months old and in the last 3 months I have only been able to use the hottest setting, now it works one minute and not the next . Yet is boiling by itself without being turned on. Kmart will you replace my Kettle, it is sentimental to me as my dad brought it for me 1 week before he passed. So everytime I make a cup of tea, I think of him........Thanks

I have the glass kettle with the variable temperature and the four screws under the lid has rusted very badly. We have resorted to using the kettle with the lid open to prevent the rusty steam dripping down into the water. The unit is less than two months old. I would like to get a replacement but I no longer have the receipt. Has anyone else noticed the rusted screws?

Does it beep? (If so that’s a ‘no’, so annoying!)

Does this kettle have the blue illuminating lighting inside the kettle when it boils

I just unpacked mine tonight and I'm taking it back tomorrow because even though the side of the box clearly states ">illuminates when boiling" I was very disappointed (and felt cheated) to find that it does NOT illuminate when boiling. The only thing that happens is the temperature button you press (which got stuck half the times I pushed it) lights up. So either mine is broken out of the box or it's false advertising.

Hi Chris, yes I found the same thing when I plugged mine in, I also returned mine for a refund.

I bought this kettle but noticed it doesnt make any noise when the water is boiled - is this normal or faulty? How do you know when the water is boiled?

The kettle is glass, so transparent, when it boils you will see big bubbles. if not moving it has previously boiled and you will generally see small bubbles on the metal base

Hi there,
I am trying to find a user manual for my 1.7 Variable Temperature Kettle as there was nothing in the box when I opened it apart from the actual kettle and power stand.
Thank you
Regards Jennie

Pretty basic, hit the big one on the right for boil, for the others hit the temp you want twice. Ie 80 degrees lights them all up, second tap kicks off 80 degree heating

Many glass electric kettles for sale online, also state that they are BPA free and, as many people are aware nowadays of the dangers of BPA, I want to ask whether this kettle is also BPA free (eg the lid / handle / base et al!) ??
I’d appreciate an answer on this for my own peace of mind ...
Thanking you in advance of an answer,
MargeryK

As Kmart don't mention 'BPA free' in their product details for this kettle, I would think it isn't... but perhaps you could call Kmart to ask the question. The water is mainly in contact with the glass body and steel bottom, not so much the bit of plastic that's on the underside of the lid. The other kettles which were in the store looked like they were made almost entirely out of plastic, I wouldn't touch those! Hope that helps :)
