Ours still works well and has strong suction, but lately the air coming out the front filter bit seems to increased in pressure. So it blows to dirt away before I can get to it, unless i go backwards. Any suggestions on how to rectify this? Thanks

My vacuum has never been used, just pulled it out of the box plugged it in and it's not picking anything up. Do I need to do something?

Hi Jayne. Have you checked that it is set at the right height? There’s a slide lever at the front near ground level. The instructions are pretty good, but if you’ve read them, you may have a faulty unit, so then return it. Good luck - I love mine and haven’t had any problems. Kate

What do I press to release vacuum from upright position

Nothing to press, just put your foot on the front to stabilise it if needed and pull the handle down and back. It’s hard to explain.

How do I close the pre motor bin lid latch?
This vacuum is value for money, excellent suction, but the clear plastic latch on the front, above the dust catcher, for the pre motor bin lid is so hard to close!
I have closed it a few times but this time eit won’t close ....looks like it will break easily if I force it with something.
Any recommendations???

Kept trying and realised the section that goes down into the dust catcher has to be turned round till it locks in and there’s a slot above the latch that juts out.
Then put the filters back in and the latch closed easily

Turn the part below the filters till it clicks into place and there’s a slot just above the latch bit that juts out
You probably figured this out by now

Are parts also sold at Kmart?

No Kmart I called (Broadway NSW and surrounding stores) had replacement belts for this thing. There is an eBay vendor that has them at $20 each but they are flimsy and don't last (search eBay for Anko 1200W and you'll find it). A long established appliance store I know in Bondi Junction gave me a few old belts that were a similar width and had an approximate diameter of 12cm, almost matching the original. So far so good but Kmart are really pushing out instant landfill with this device.

How does the roller brush work?

2 answers
Tony
Tony

The roller brush (beater) is driven by a flat polybelt on the left side of the machine (when viewed from above). Gaps on the beaters axles allow debris to quickly accumulate and block the beater from moving, this in turn stops the belt from turning and the metal drive shaft chews through the belt. Belts are not available at K-Mart but can be found on eBay at $20. Sadly this is a futile exercise as the design fault soon happens again and the belt goes. Factor in that the metal drive shaft rusts very quickly and these things will be eating belts a lot. I found a close match belt in a hardware store for $7, same thing happened within minutes and each time I have totally cleared the beater blockages prior to fitting a new belt. This cleaner is instant landfill and whilst it does the job very well initially, the few minutes it lasts until the beater stops turning speak volumes.

I bought this in January 2018 and it hasn’t been working well for a couple months.. just found receipt and realised I’m just out of 12 month warranty. Would they accept it still? I was so excited when I bought it but I wouldn’t buy one again.. terrible vacuum cleaner!
