Hi There,
I recently purchased Kogan 18,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner and the drainage container fills up in about 20mins and shuts the machine down. Any ideas?
1 answer
Plug in the hose in the connection in the back and let it drain into like an old juice container or something. The amount of water that comes out of the back depends on the humidity of the room. some nights it barely fills up, other nights its almost filled my 1 litre container after a few hours of use
C. Redasked
Can someone please explain why this piece of crap is shutting down and displaying FL on the panel. I have tried to drain the water from the back but there is literally NOTHING in there. Really not happy as the the unit is less than a month old.
1 answer
There is one plug for the water the water reservoir. That’s the one that you fill up with water usually and may have a black plug and white cap.
Then you have a second white plug with a white cap usually at the very bottom of the middle part of the machine that nearly sits on the ground level. Once that is drained it should solve your issue.
Took me a little investigating and two days to figure it out. But pretty sure it should be in the manual.
Kind regards,
Richy

Hi, I am using the the heater function and the is no water coming out of the plug from the condenser . It was working for a few months and now has stop coming out. Any ideas?
1 answer
It's normal: There should be no water accumulated in the container when using the heating function. The condensation (water) is only produced when using the cooling function.

I’m trying to use the unit in heat mode but it’s pumping super cold air out of the back vent so ends up making the room colder. How can I stop the cold air out of the back vent?

Hi
Can anyone tell me about "sleep mode" when it reaches the desired temperature should the compressor just shut down and the fan keep running at the set speed or what? My compressor shuts off but the fan still runs at the set speed, I would have thought the fan would slow down as well?
Cheers Rob

Hi, could anybody answer the following issues? I have bought one Kogan 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner a few months ago, it worked well in the winter. But when I tried it last week, it only has heat air (I pressed the cooling button). I tried several times but no cool air at all. Is there somewhere I can put coolant?

Hi Ellie, sorry to hear about this. You should not have to refill coolant on this model. If the issue persists, we can assist under warranty. You can call us on 1300 304 292 or submit an online inquiry here:

Hi, my unit no longer shuts down/sleeps when it reaches the ambient temperature. It just stays on continually until you turn it off. Is there are setting somewhere or is this a faulty unit?
2 answers
I'll give the same answer as to the other person who asked earlier because it seems to apply. I hope it helps!
I don't know if there is a sleep mode, to be honest. I can only speak about the cooling function on our one as we haven't used other modes.
When set to cooling, our one is permanently on (unless you set a timer) in some way:
1. If the set temperature has not been achieved, the air conditioning/cooling unit is on (sounds louder).
2. If the set temperature has been achieved, the air conditioning/cooling unit is off (sounds quieter) and only the fan is engaged.
Hope that helps, again, that's just how our one acts when using cooling. Not sure about other modes.
Yeah I'm pretty sure there's no sleep mode with this model, not the one I've got anyway, as I said to someone else once you have reached your desired temperature simply switch off.

Hi could anybody answer the following please. Just a little history first, one night last winter we had an electric heater fire that came out of know where! I remember asking the head fireman what would be a safe heater to purchase. He ratteled off a whole lot of heaters that he hated, he had obviously been called out to many home heater fires. In the end he said to move to the Northern Territory which is not an option, Brisbane is home for us. I am seriously looking at the kogan reverse cycle air conditioner. To cool and heat our open plan lounge dining kitchen (villa) we only have a pedestal fan for cooling in this area and it can get so darn hot/humid in brisbane. Firstly can anyone tell me of any fire risk that has been detected withe this unit? Secondly is this unit with the hose etc easily portable to be moved and set up in our two bedrooms as necessary? Thanks Anne

Hi Anne,
All of our products including the Kogan 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner undergo rigorous safety and quality tests to ensure they are perfectly safe to use.
This unit is easily portable and can be moved between rooms with ease. There is an exhaust hose that will need to be positioned out a window, however this can easily be moved with this unit.
Thankyou so much for your speedy and helful reply Kogan thankyou Anne

Hi could kogan advise me of the energy consumption/rating on this unit please? thanks anne

By my calculations, this unit uses 1370 watts for cooling, and 1200 watts for heating. So, on cooling, while the unit is running it will cost you 1.37 times your kw cost per hour. Here in Tassie our cost is around 23 cents per kw hour. Therefore on cooling if the unit were running continuously it would cost 1.37 x 23c = 31.51 cents per hour. On heating if running continuously it is 1.2 x 23c = 27.6 cents per hour. Pretty darn economical really.
Thanyou kingfisher 49 for your speedy and helpful answer to my question. Anne

We have just started using our portable air conditioner 14 000 that got us through summer only 8 months ago, without any problems. However, this time, after a few days of using it, it is making a rattling sound from the back of the system. Is there anything you would suggest we do to fix the rattling?

I'd take out all the filter screens and put them back in. It could be that the middle one or the back of the unit isn't clipped in properly.
I would contact Kogan. There is nothing in the user manual regarding your issue.
Mine was same,, called Kogan for advice,, yes they know about this and told me of a way to reset which involved turning of and on etc in certain way which rectified problem (temporarily),, I'll hv to contact them again as I don't remember the exact process,, good luck,, Shane,,

when i turn mine to heat mode the unit stops and goes silent and no heat comes out what could this issue be ?
1 answer
Ross x.Kogan
Hi Dan,
There's a possibility that the unit is in sleep mode, which will operate when it detects the ambient temperature is equal to the selected temperature you've set. When this occurs, the unit will stop heating and will only turn back on once the room has cooled down again.
Otherwise if this occurs all the time, there's a possibility that there may be an issue with the unit that may require a repair. If the issues persist, we'd encourage you to get in contact with us by calling 1300 304 292, or submit an online inquiry here: https://www.kogan.com/au/help/question/new/complete_question/

Is there anyway I can find out how much running this product would cost me a day or month or year if I run it in cooling mode for 10 hours a day ?
1 answer
I'm not 100% sure but it states in cooling mode the power input is 1.37kw. So for 10 hours per day I think it would use approximately 13.7kw. Multiply that by whatever your electricity rate is per kw and that would be your daily cost.
