Decent for my purpose, but build quality isnt the best.
Bought the larger 4.1kw (14,000BTU) model off Kogan about 24 months ago. The 3 directional flaps which move broke down after 2 months (maybe 30 hours of usage) but I didn't deem it a big enough issue to contact Kogan about. I tried to use this to cool the lounge room which joins the kitchen which is about 35sq meters total which is more than the 30sq they advertise. Wasn't really able to feel much of a difference when i turned it on and off, so even though I used it for a bigger space than intended, I wouldn't trust it for a room as big as they...Read more
rate it (30sqm). Now I use it to cool my rear bedroom which is about 10-12 square meters. it does the job quickly for that size room. But it's very noisy compared to the in wall split system i have in the master bedroom. The sound kind of reminds me of an air compressor with ear muffs on. You get used to it, but its still loud. Like some others have mentioned the window seal is a little cheap. Would prefer it to be longer as there is about 5 inches at the top of the window that it doesnt cover. Pros: - cools well for a smaller room - asthetically looks good (in my opinion) - reasonably pricedSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Lovely
I didnt expect this air con to be as good as it is but it is amazing! It doesn’t take long to cool down our whole loungeroom and once everything is closed up the room gets quite cool and it’s just bliss on those super hot muggy days here in Brisbane, if you live here you know those days I’m talking about! It was easy to set up and we also duct taped the window kit to the window frame so it’s nice and secure. Other portable air cons we’ve had in the past don’t even compare to this one! It blasts cold air throughout the room instead of just one direction so everyone in different areas can feel cool instead of just the person sitting directly in front of it. Probably our best purchase this year by far. Very happy family here.

Just found out that it adds $150 to our quarterly electricity bill for the summer*****
Bought this for our kid's room as it gets up to 30+ degrees in there in summer. So happy. Knew we were buying budget, but really happy with the quality. Room size is 11m2 and it cools it down well. It doesn't get icy cold but we never expected it to. The kids sleep through the noise and honestly, it's not that noisy. Read a lot of reviews stating it was too noisy but it's quite good. I've had more annoying ceiling fans than the low hum of thi...Read more
s thing. Haven't had it long enough to see how it impacts our electricity bill but my partner and I agree it's worth whatever to help get the kids to sleep more comfortably... and longer!! We are on a tight budget too so that means a lot to us. If Needed a bigger room cooled, would definitely buy a bigger size but this is great for us and super easy to install.. very low drama which is a pleasant surprise.Purchased in November 2021 at Kogan.com.

Works OK, Consumes a lot of electricity
I got the 4.1kW (14,000 BTU) unit. It works fine, not too much noise. However as soon as you switch it off the room heats up very quickly, so I need to keep it running all night. This consumes A LOT of electricity. Not worth return on investment if you ask me. The window seal kit is absolute rubbish and lets a lot of hot air in from outside.
The Air Exhaust hose gets very very hot, and because it needs to run inside the room from the aircon to the window it heats up the room. Overall, not impressed. Got rid of it after 2 month usage.

ot particularly energy efficient in relation to their size. A 4kw unit could easily cost around $1 an hour to run, which could get pricey in the summer months; add to that their limitations in cooling larger rooms and you might have an expensive disappointment on your hands.Similar opinion? Works well in a smaller room.
This was able to work quite well for heating and cooling in a smaller, closed room. As you would expect, in a larger room it struggles and we have ended up using just a normal fan or heater when needed. The other issues we had is that it seems to fill up very quickly and found ourselves having to empty the tank 1-2 times a day.

great little aircon
This unit has really surprised me, it can easily cool down a bedroom within about 30mins and is very quiet so you can sleep with it on at night, especially in summer.
This unit is easily moved around the house where and when required. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

An Air Con That Isn't An Air Con
Very bulky and heavy to move around, even with the wheels.
The exhaust pipe is big and the window kit isn't tall enough for the window height so the sliding window is always allowing the air from outside to get in. The window kit does not fit securely into the window and can easily fall out.
I use a standard bucket to capture the water waste. It can fill up very quickly. On many occasions it has overflowed onto the carpet.
It's supposed to shut down when it reaches a set temperature but it doesn't do this. It continually stays on until you t...Read more

Best thing ever bought in summer
I was initially skeptical with buying portable air conditioner as I read previously they are very noisy but I found the Kogan portable air conditioner's noise to be not as loud as I heard. Good thing about this air conditioner is that it has an auto shut off timer. It is not bad for a medium room size.

I was expecting something noise, but this is ridiculous. The tiny water reservoir fills several time
While this unit does heat, and cool reasonably well, the noise level is insane.
I understand these are noisy, but Its impossible to consider this for residential use. I cad hear the pump through my noise cancelling headphones.
The water reservoir fills up every 2 hours, and the machine stops working until you empty it.
Consider other options!

Good Little Aircon
This saved our hides this summer. Our bedroom really cops the afternoon sun and this saved the day. It has just enough output to take the edge off the hottest days and it quite cold if you are directly in front of it. Its more like a fan that blows refrigerated air. They make more powerful models but this was cheap! It is well enough made and comes with a window kit and air hose.

Cools Well Bit Noisy
This Kogan air conditioner does a respectable job of cooling smallish spaces but is a bit on the noisy side. It worked great at cooling down the bedroom, so we gave it a go in the lounge room. That didn't really work - the space was too big. It was cool directly in front of it but it never got anywhere near bringing the whole room temperature down but it made a difference. In a smaller spaces, it works well. You need to stay near a window as you have to connect a pipe to pump the hot air outside. Overall it helped us but we couldn't use it while we were sleeping due to the noise.

Noisy Works Well
This was a big help over summer but its loud. We live in Melbourne so it's only really hot over a few months but the hot days are often over 40c. Our lounge room just cooks on days like that but its not worth getting full built in air conditioning. We ordered this Kogan unit and I had my doubts but I can report I was very wrong in a good way! It did a remarkable job of cooling for us. The secret with these is to block up anywhere the air can escape and make a cool zone. It really did well but it does make quite a lot of noise while its running. rather has a bit of noise and a cool room though so I am giving this 4 stars.

Good alternative to expensive Split System A/C
Although the area we are trying to cool is larger than the capacity rated on this portable unit, it was still able to keep us comfortable on those extreme high humidity 40 deg days during Summer. The unit is very portable and easy to use. Installation of the window seal was a bit tricky but ok once you took the time to understand the process. Although I knew the unit needed to be vented, I was a bit disappointed that it was clearly stated when purchasing the unit online. I was quite disappointed in how loud the unit is considering the unit was advertised as being quite.

Good For Small Rooms But Noisy
This has been excellent all summer. We use it in the bedroom and it's done a sweet job of cooling us down on the hot days. You can tell it's getting to the limits of its abilities on 40c plus days though, so I wouldn't try using it in any larger rooms.
Quality of the machine and hoses seems fine. The remote is pretty basic but does the job.
There is one big issue with it - the noise factor. Its noisy! So know that if you are a light sleeper because this thing isn't quiet.
I am happy with this machine overall and think it is good for the price.

Adequate Not Amazing - Its OK
I got this on sale from Dick smith (Kogan) for $279.
It is quite efficient as it only draws 1000w on full but it is the less powerful 12000BTU model.
Two points:
1/ Cooling power is limited. It will be OK for a small bedroom or study but after that it struggles to keep up with the compressor running all the time. This would limits its lifespan
2/ Its very noisy. It is a struggle to hear TV with this running
Its adequage, not amazing,

Perfect aircon for our bedroom!
Purchased the 12,000 btu portable aircon. It has been magnificent. Our room was reaching from 27 to 30+ on really hot days because we face the sun. Have been using for the last few days and it cools our room down so easily. Really easy setup, noise is tolerable. We have a newborn and setting temperature to 22 degrees is amazing. Really happy with the product and fast delivery too! Thanks Kogan.

I can now sleep during the summer!!
My bedroom catches the afternoon and evening sun, and being a brick house it heats up like an oven during the summer months. Getting to sleep was near impossible. The best relief I got was a spray bottle and a pedestal fan on full blast, but this isn't very practical when trying to sleep.
I put off buying a portable aircon as I read they were next to useless and was unsure how to install the exhaust in the window. However out of sheer desperation I decided to take the plunge and i'm so happy I did.
I put this on about an hour before bed and i...Read more

Cools one room, so it does it's job
I'm satisfied that it cools the room I sleep in. The unit is quite large but it does its job so that's all that matters.
The review of this product loses one star and that's for the noise it makes, I can put up with it but it is unnecessarily loud.

Works as intended, very happy.
I purchased this unit around a month ago from Kogan.com (14000BTU model). I am very pleased with the cooling power of this unit, it cools down smaller rooms very quickly, even non insulated ones. I have only use the heating function once but it seems to heat quite well too. The unit moves quite well on solid floors but gets stuck on carpet. The unit has carry handles but is extremely heavy, I would recommend two people to lift it. It is about average in terms of noise for a portable air conditioner. It is quiet enough I can sleep with it on, however running it for a long period (as with most reverse cycle air conditioners) does dehumidify the air a lot.

Good value for money, high quality
This is our first purchase of an air conditioner. It was a very good price ($379 + free postage) and was delivered within three days. The unit is quite heavy, but easily maneuverable as it is on sturdy castors. It has a modern, sleek design, and is manufactured to a high quality. The user manual was not helpful (poor English, with many confusing sentences), but with some fiddling it was pretty straightforward to figure out. The window kit and slider is not long enough and is only suitable for sliding or sash windows, and does not fit casement w...Read more
indows (as we have), but we managed to improvise (it would have been helpful to know this beforehand, but was not mentioned in the product description or specifications online). It emits slightly more noise than the average pedestal fan. It runs efficiently and blows lovely, cold air, with three fan speeds and a swing vent. I’m not so keen on the vent facing toward the ceiling, and the swing function only allows it to blow slightly lower, but not straight ahead (it takes longer to cool high ceiling homes, as ours is). It would also be helpful to have longer exhaust tubing, and I think the mechanism for attaching the tubing to the round plastic connectors could be improved. The window kit slider needs to be longer to fit taller windows. Overall, we are very happy with the unit, especially for the price, and could recommend it.Similar opinion?
