Dodgy recharge
Beware about recharging as they want to lock you into Auto Recharge so they can rip you off by charging what they like and the reception is terrible so please stay away from this dodgy crowd because they obviously couldn't careless about their customers so I would recommend going to Optus.

DO NOT BUY THIS SERVICE FOR CHILDREN!
If you buy a Kogan mobile service for your kids, the creepy Kogan employees will insist on speaking directly to your children. Keep your family safe from predators and choose another provider.

Very poor
I only kept the service for one month because despite checking compatibility before switching my phone didn’t work properly with this service and i had to continually reset my network settings to use mobile data. Very inconvenient when trying to transfer money when at the counter of stores.

No Phone Support and Online Support not understanding Kogan issue
*I bought a 1 Year sim card pre-paid pack back in Jan 2022.
*I received a couple of text messages in Jan advising that the pre-paid is expiring and i should choose a plan to renew via a link provided.
NOTE:
-No notice stating of any auto-renewal from any of the text messages i received before i travelled overseas, just that it was expiring and to choose a plan.
-No additional info nor any options to cancel from the link they have texted nor in the text itself.
*After learning that Kogan automatically billed me for another year via looking at my credit card statement, Kogan also automatically triggered to 'redeem' the renewal.

1. I contacted KOGAN online support who then had to wait for a specialist kogan team 3 days after my case request and basically said that i should not have redeemed the renewal voucher (as per above, it auto-renewed!) 2. I tried to call support and after waiting 10mins, Kogan support team (if any) decided to just hang up! 3x now! Someone from Kogan needs to organise a REFUND! Purchasing one-off items through Kogan is fine but your Pre-paid offerings needs significant improvement, starting off by being transparent with your customers!!! This is completely UNACCEPTABLE KOGAN!!! You need to provide advanced reminders to either cancel or renew, not just a renew option!! There were no additional details explaining that the pre-paid pack will auto-renew at ALL!!1 comment

Ported to Kogan a month ago, fast port, less than 10 mins and so far coverage has been good, but sometimes choppy at my local shopping centre. But overall very happy

Dodgy rip off on recharge
My 12 month account was up so I went in to recharge.
Increase of $94 !!!
Luckily I noticed so I went to turn Auto Recharge off.
appears to be impossible.
Looks like they want to lock you into Auto Recharge so they can rip you off by charging what they like.

Nightmare and a waste of my time.
I bought a Kogan 4G modem & was given a free sim. So I thought I had nothing to lose and I would give Kogan a try...a decision I now regret.
I read the instructions and had interpreted that the sim would still work while waiting for my number to port across from Telstra. I got an email from kogan to say my port request was in progress - then 3 days later still no update. So I called up Kogan and was given a lecture that Telstra and Kogan would have sent me text messages with codes needed to authorise the porting....problem being I cant access...Read more
the text messages as it is a data modem. The kogan call centre shuts at 5pm WA time (8pm AEST time) which is really inconvenient. I ended up having to go and purchase another sim card as my original number was stuck porting in no mans land, my kogan sim was stuck as it was waiting for porting to be completed. The call centre staff at Kogan are rude. I wish I had not even tried to give Kogan a go as it has involved hours of my time I will never get back.2 comments

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE
Do not use this service provider if you plan on switching, they will snake you and leave you paying fees to transfer your number to another. My brother purchased a plan under his name about a year ago, I have since then swapped to boost as they have offered better details; mistakenly, I have entered my details into the boost activation and the two do not match up. I have contacted Kogan to transfer ownership from his name to my name, because of that they have asked me to recharge an amount of $17 to allow for this to occur, without paying the $...Read more

Slow speed poor coverage and 0 for customer service
Phone call signals drop out consistently. Internet connection is slow, only getting around 1-2Mbit/s most of the time with 4G.
But the worse part happened when I tried to port my number out. I made numerous tries in the last few days and all got rejected. When I rang Kogan customer service asking for an explanation, they kept saying they didn't know much as the service is run on the Vodafone network. In the end, I asked if Kogan can help me to pass my request to Vodafone to solve the problem, but they told me to talk to Vodafone myself. Of course, Vodafone could/would not help me at all as I am not even its customer.

Kogan is impossible to contact
Today I activated a Kogan mobile service (not without difficulty). My iPhone refuses to recognise the SIM card, I am without phone service. Contacting Kogan is not possible. Their help service is nothing but a series of questions and answers. The lack of communication is difficult to understand given we are talking about communication. I will change providers tomorrow.

Excellent value, easy to use
Offer great introductory offers, including the SIM, and then the plans are some of the best available. Also you can earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points. Uses the Vodafone network, which has improved out of sight in recent years.

Terrible customer service. I contacted them today to obtain my account number as we are porting to another provider. They advised that since the original sim has been stolen (along with the phone) I need to buy another sim card, port over the original number so I can receive a 4 digit number to verify my identity so they cab give me my account mumber. They refused to email it. What a joke! Also, it appears I can't leave a google review for them - it looks to be rigged!

Awful network coverage
It took about 20 days and a follow up email to get my sim delivered. I jumped on a yearly plan, and the price is great, but travelling to the city, reception drops out frequently on the train. Streaming cannot be done reliably, and sometimes simple web pages can't be loaded. This network isn't reliable enough for me and I'm going back to a prior provider.

Can not make and receive a phone call
I have been using Kogan mobile for 2 years.
1st year: It was great, so I extended to 1 more year.
2nd year: It was working well. However after 5 months from extension contract, I could not make a phone call in most of region. Even it does not work in Sydney city. So I was in danger in emergency situations. Customer service just suggested turn off and on. But this solution is not helpful and working.
Antenna shows full before make a phone call but it takes waiting term and it became 'not in service'.
I am pretty much sure that I am not living in super country side and never seen my colleagues mobile have this problems with other supplier.
On the other hands, this happening is not only my phone. My wife also have the same problems.

Not enough explanation
I wanted to choose another plan with Kogan and used the recharge within My Account for the first time. The last time I bought a new plan off the website and a voucher code was sent to use when I needed to recharge. Unfortunately using the recharge made the recharge happen IMMEDIATELY and so I lost 3/4 month of data from my current plan. There was no warning that this would be what happened with my selection. On ringing Kogan all they could do for me was to give me an extra 10 days on the 365 day plan I bought and an extra 1GB of data which is a lot less than what disappeared from my current plan. I had thought that using the recharge would create a voucher code m=for me to use when the I needed to recharge.

Kogan failed to provide adequate information regarding unauthorised charges to my card
I have been a Kogan user for the past 3 years and have had no troubles at all with the company. Unfortunately, beginning in August 2022, I have been receiving charges to my credit card for add-on data packages that I was not purchasing. I contacted Kogan in early September advising them of this mistake, to which they replied that I would receive a refund for this mistake, as well as advising that this would not happen again. Several weeks followed with no action on their behalf, at which point I got in contact with my bank and organised a refun...Read more
d externally through their services. I never received any further correspondence with Kogan following my initial complaint. I have since been charged every month for the same $15 data pack, despite their assurance this was a one-off incident. Upon calling Kogan support, I was greeted with an unhelpful and unempathetic individual who advised me that I had selected an automatic recharge system for $15 data packs on my account. I had previously reviewed my account details and although "Automatic recharge" was enabled on my card, the context for this option implied recharging my prepaid plan at the end of my contract rather than individual "add-on" data packs. The individual supposedly giving "support" seemed disinterested in my case and dismissive of my dissatisfaction with the service. Needless to say I will not be recharging with Kogan again and will be warning friends and family to follow suit.1 comment

Very slow internet - heats up my phone
Network coverage ok so far in town of population around 11,000. Getting the internet is unbelievably bad. I have had the plan for six months and can't wait until it finishes in another six months. My phone heats up a lot trying to get signal (even though it says full bars). This does not happen when I get wifi internet. Loading up basic websites takes a LONG time. iPhone works very hard and heats up & this is probably not good for its battery life or - more importantly - your self being near a phone. Customer service is really minimal. ...Read more

Auto renewed without permission, plus extra charges I am trying to recover.
As a few other members have made mentioned here I have issues regarding the auto-renew. I purchased a prepaid package for my Dad and set the service up the last Xmas. He is not really good with IT-related stuff.
He was receiving emails that his phone service would be cancelled so I purchased another package for him. To my surprise the package auto-renewed, this wasn't set up and there were no emails to state the account would auto-renew.

I have been using Kogan for a number of years with both IPhone/Android without an issue. I recently purchased an unlocked IPhone but my Kogan SIM won’t work in the phone. I have tried both an Optus and Telstra SIM in the phone and it works fine. I have also tried another Kogan SIM and the phone still doesn’t work. Anyone else had this issue?

Can I use my current Kogan sim card in a mobile phone locked to the vodophone network?
1 answer
I don't think you can until your current plan finishes. Kogan uses Vodaphone network but is a different provider.
Make sure that your plan doesn't automatically roll over to a new contract.

I bought a kogan mobile prepaid SIM with voucher this deal was meant for only new customers only. when entered the voucher code kept saying invalid so I rang customer care and spoke to a guy who now says that this plan I bought is only for new customers who want to port their existing no. frm a different carrier ......this was not mentioned on the description or overview when i bought it also demoesnt make sense because it even gives you a choice if either using the new ph no. that comes with the sim or port existing (active) no. frm a diff carrier.
I want to know if you or anyone might know if this is really the case or am I being lied to???

Based on my own experience, Kogan's customer care team is not very helpful. Most of its staff I spoke to had very limited knowledge on their own system.
Your best bet will be asking for a callback from their supervisor.
