Really pleased with this mower
My first zero-turn mower and it's a good'un. 70 hours on it after two years with no problems at all. Starts 1st time, every time. Plenty of power to cut tall, thick grass in the paddocks and the blades are tough enough to let me ignore small sticks up to 2.5 cm in diameter. No belt issues or scalping and sharp blades leave a nice finish on the lawn.
Purchased in November 2021 for $5,000.00.

Happy so far
I purchased the z121s last year to replace an Exmark Quest i had the previous 10 years. As far as quality goes its made to be a residential mower, not commercial. The build quality to me is on par if not better than some. I have roughly 22hrs on the mower now and have only had one problem and that was the hour meter. It jumped from 2.5 to 40hrs in the first hour of use, but my dealer replaced it and i have not had any other problem as of yet. My only concern is the Kohler engine, and if it will hold up after years of use. I think Kawasaki are better engines for sure and an upgrade to those engines would help sell these better. Overall I am pleased and would recommend testing one and comparing it to others to see if it fits your needs.

Too many faults
Constantly having start issues and belts coming off. Haven’t even put 90 hrs on it yet and cutting nice flat ground. Struggles on slopes as it will just wheel spin and slide

Keeps stopping Z121S
Purchased this new and have had this mower for a few years now. Worked really well for first 40 hours. Since then constantly won't start. Also kept cutting out. they replace 1 of the 2 coils and this seemed OK. Now it won't start and appears to be one of the cut of switches. Maybe park brake or seat. Haven't resolve it yet. To have these problems after 42 hours of use seems problematic given the purchase price.

When its going cant beat it - belt problem also hopefully fixed
This is my second Kubota Zero turn, first one was a Z122e 48" with Briggs and Stratton 22 hp. Traded after 120 hrs, had a pretty good run except head gasket went just before warranty was up, didn't have to pay so all good. Never broke a belt, dislodged twice by stick and son wasn't mowers fault....this is why I bought another one.........but with in 7 hours of having the Z125s 54" kohler 25hp? had broken a belt, then 30 mins later had scored another one . Called out service guy from where I purchased it and said I had noticed this mower...Read more
was scalping and the second belt had twisted on the deck pulleys . Turns out they had never performed the pre-delivery service, so the mower had flat tyres, the horizontal deck alignment was out and the front deck wheels were in the wrong position. Since getting all this right I have now done 10 more hours and going well. Having said all this I still believe the larger area of the deck creates more leverage and a greater risk to dislodging the belt when mowing around uneven/lumpy areas. Great mower, heaps of power and new sharp blades give a great cut . I was furious when these belts started breaking on my new $8000k mower, so I hope this helps those of you still having issues with this.Purchased in April 2021 at G & J East Strathalbyn for $8,000.00.

Great unit
I bought this mower to replace a Toro ride on. After looking for years at other options in the price range, this offered a much better/tougher build for the price. The K-Lift is brilliantly simple to operate. The chassis and deck are really built tough compared to others I looked at in the same price range, and has the stronger/faster zt3100 hydros. I'm more than happy with having a Briggs ELS in the Z122E. My old Toro had a Briggs ELS and is the only thing that didn't break and is still running great after 11yrs. he Z122E so far after 4yrs/83 Hrs but I do look after it because my area can get quite dusty. I've read through the reviews on this site and, IMO, a lot of the problems experienced are down to bad dealer setup and/or operator error/ poor maintenance. Doesn't stear great on hills? Zero turns are not recommended for hilly terrain. Belt smoking? The belt has not been put back on the right way. I did this myself. I threw the belt twice when I first got the mower. Worked out what I was doing wrong and have not had a problem since and still on the original belt.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Belt or Pulley Problem again!
Less than 60 hours and down again for the fifth time with belt/pulley problem.
Very frustrating as Kubota will not recognize they have a problem. Do not recommend! Kawasaki engine cranks excessive before it starts.

was great until?
Was great for 2 years until it started bogging down and short grass or wouldn't re start after running for a while so as a small engine mechanic I was certain I could fix it but to no avail, I finally gave in and called my local Kubota dealer for assistance only to find out that my mower had multiple recalls on it I never received a recall notice on it, now I understand things go bad but that kind of costumer service is just wrong, that being said the dealer took care of it so I blame Kubota on this,

A great mower
Bought a Z122R in late 2016, 42' Deck, Kawasaki powered FR651V 21.5 Hp. I'm not sure about all the noise on belt issues but to me it must be abuse. You should not mow at greater than half throttle and pick up big sticks from the surrounding gum tree please. Engaging the Blades at high speed is not recommended.
If your wanting Original engine parts, like filters etc or non Genuine Blades I recommend

Great mower
This is my second year of use. Its the first zero turn mower Ive owned and was very easy to learn to operate. Only a couple of minor issues. Mine requires no choke in summer and floods at times even in winter. The two front tyres are very thin and both punctured with cat heads in the first week of use. Otherwise brilliant, and makes mowing fun. The local dealer delivered to my home, provided excellent instruction and ensured I was familiar with safe use. I note other reviews complaints re belt issues. The advice I was given was not to wash under deck. I use a blower after mowing, scrape build up out every now and then and hand wash to keep the rest of mower clean. Mower would suit residential and small acreage.

Fast as
Never had an issue, much better than the John Deere zero turn I had, I beat up on the Kubota, use it in dust and mud, had it bogged up to the seat, just keeps going,
Only down side is it’s a bit heavy on fuel
Comfortable, very fast and reliable

I purchased this mower a short time ago and put a little over 10 hrs on it without any issues. My wife and I needed some dirt for a project, so we hitched up the trailer loaded it to the hilt (approximately 800 lbs) hauled it down the street up a steep driveway and through the yard without any problems. Kubota has also done a great job with the mower deck and blades I ran over a rock the size of a softball and shot it a good distance away with no damage still cuts great, this is a well constructed machine and rides very comfortably with the adjustable seat tension. Great Mower I recommend to all.

Very good!
OK! I can relate to the negative reviews with this product (2014 Kubota BX25D). The guy who wanted one "Out of the crate", unfortunately Kubota doesn't let you do this. I too wanted to pick my own from the few they had on the lot, but the salesman told me that they don't do it like that. He said 1st in and 1st out. It doesn't work like a car dealer. With that said, it should not have had double digit hours on it. Mine had 0.3 hours so I knew it was new. Also, they do stand by the two year warranty, but it does stink that you must get the unit to them at your own expense and sometimes wait too long to get it back. And most of their mechanics are stupid and don't know how to diagnose and repair it right.

If you want to save time, choose it.
This mower is a 26hp 3cyc diesel that gets better mileage than 8 got on my old 18 hp gas. It has almost unlimited power, mows fast, smooth with power steering, brakes, hydraulic drive. It never bogs down in heavy grass, blades are indestructible and mowers a beautiful smooth flat lawn and is just fun to drive. Would never buy anything else’s.

Green Should Be The New Orange!
I bought my Z125S zero turn mower brand new in the spring of 2015. I kept my Kubota BX24 for the bigger jobs, despite its flimsy construction. Well, the Z125S has been a headache since day #1: it is very difficult to start most of the time and even starting fluid does not always help Now the blades will not engage and turn...and it was just "spring prepped" by the dealer! Over my lifetime, I have owned Toro mowers and Lawnboy mowers and never had issues with them starting or mowing. I should have bought a John Deere instead of deciding to go with Kubota again...what a major judgement error, but I will never buy another Kubota product again that is for certain!

Buyer beware
I bought my mower two weeks ago and because of stormy weather today was my first opportunity to mow my lawn. I loved the way the mower started, the comfort of the seat and convenience of the controls. I do not love the fact that after approx. 15 minutes of mowing the belt that runs the blades broke. My brand new $5,000 mower and I just paid someone $60 to mow my 1.76 acres. I hope that this incident is just a one time problem and not an indication of things to come. I am 74 years old, retired and I can't afford to buy a premium mower and then have to pay someone to mow my lawn.

Belt broke the third time it was used after two hours use.
Took it back to return it as I had not even made a payment yet. They refused to return or let me exchange it for a model that has no belts. Instead they wanted to charge me and then said that there was a recall on that belt so they put a new one on.
Kobota corporate said the business that bought it owns it and they would not do anything to help me. There is no guarantee or exchange policy.
Two more hours of use and it was shredded again, even after they said it would not and they would pick it up and repair it they instead sent me to diff...Read more

So Far So Good
Easy to operate around the many obstacles we have in our yard. Far superior to my old Ride-On. Did my 2.5 Ha yard in a quarter of the time. Comfortable to operate.
Early days yet. Will keep you in the loop.
Pleased with Milne Bros help & advice. Disappointed that the machine did not come with a parts book.
Motor should have a foam element complimenting the paper air cleaner, especially in dusty conditions.
It has a non genuine foam filter now, gratis Sterling Milne. Cheers.
