Out standing tire
I had theses tires on my new d-max since new. The car had 10000ks in the clock before I changed to theses. Now the clock on my car is 93000km and 5-6mm tread left. 80% road use 20% sand. Never been bogged, had only 1 flat tire. Supplied by Noels tire shop Wacol. 285/75/16 with a 3" lift. Tires are rotated and balanced as per agreement and had a 60000 km warranty at the time of purchase. once i click over 100000 I will replace them .

Fantastic tyre for outback touring
I have had these tyres for 50000 km on a Landcruiser 100 series turbo diesel and they still have 9mm of tread left.
They aren't too noisey either, except when travelling on very smooth bitumen.
The tyre place I bought them from said they were heavy but balanced up well with very little weight and i haven't needed to have them re-balanced since new unlike BFG All terrains I've owned before.
I recently did an outback trip covering thousands of Km of dirt roads and they came through will flying colours, with no punctures and no evidence of any...Read more
damage. The only downside I have experienced is sideways grip on gravel/dirt roads is probably not quite as good as some other all terrains I've used . One thing that did surprise me was they are made in Vietnam, given that i would consider them a high quality product. They also haven't seemed to suffer from the dreaded heel / toe wear either . The only other tyre I have used that is as good is the original Goodyear Wrangler MT/R, but they don't make them anymore To sum up they are a very tough and great value tyre that I would buy again over any American brand .

Great all rounder.
I have had these for 38k and they still have 12mm of tread. I bought five and rotate them every 10k. I went one size up with 265 70/17 R LT's. Gave a tad more clearance at 31.6" diameter compared to the standard 265 65/17 at 30.5".
These tyres are the quietest aggresive all terrain tyres I've owned. MT on these stands for mixed terrain not mud unlike other makes. They are a tad noisier and lumpier than when new but only minimally so. They have not started to go off and harden up and are great in the wet or dry on tar. I run 40psi on the black...Read more

Fantastic tyres
Have had mine on my 2014 D Max ute for 12000 kms. Very little wear, having been on a 7500km trip to QLD towing a caravan and 2000 kms offroad hunting. Fantastic grip. Very quiet and smooth. Great sidewall strength. My last tyres bagged in the sidewall and were cut in numerous places.Extremely happy considering I only paid $230 fitted for each tyre. Would certainly buy them again.

Great value for money
Purchased a set of 5 MT51's in 285/75R16 and run them on my PX ranger. Great offroad grip in all terrains, most impressive in soft sand (Yalata, SA) where they really shone! I have now put 35k on these with a good mix of hard offroading, towing and highway use and they still have plenty of tread. Im expecting close to 70 - 80k at this rate.
They have very respectible road manners (incl wet bitumen) and arent to noisy. I rotate mine every 5k (incl spare) and id happily recommend these to anyone.
My only complaint is they are a PITA to balance.

Excellent so far
I purchased 6 of these in 33s and have done 5k since purchase
Perfomed really well off road as well as on.
Tackled mud, rocks and hills with ease.
Grip is good and minimal noise.
If they hold up well in the long term I do plan on repurchasing these.
Only complaint is that I wish they had the white lettering as they look too plain without it.

Great
Have ran pretty much every major tire on different rigs on different terrain. Have to say this would have to be or close the being the best aggressive all rounder I have had. And they are great in deep sand which is a hard achievement for a relatively aggressive tire. Will see how they go as they wear but so far, they are really impressive especially for the price.
Size is 285's x 16 on a PX Ranger

Bloody good off road tyres
Kumho MT51 had them for around 20,000 km and love them, expect close to 70,000km before replacement, a little noisy on tarmac but not over bearing.
Fitted to a Nissan Navara D40 2014 with 40mm lift.
Off road these tyres are awesome, regardless of gravel, stones, mud, dirt roads they perform fantastically well.
Purchased them from Smithfield tyre and auto a Kumho official dealer.

Pretty Happy
These tyres are a great allround tyre, exceptional on road grip for a mud tyre, very soft rubber making it easy to break up the mud when 4wdriving, got 40 000KM out of them which wasn't to bad I thought being a soft tyre but I would have hoped to get a bit more than that.

Only got 29,000 km from mine
I like these tyres. But after 29,000 kms around Australia they are completely stuffed (2014 Colorado, no towing). We drove all the main off road tracks so I am not complaining. We lost one to a sharp stone (sidewall ripped open) on the Gibb River road. One fell apart after probably 15,000 km ( with a blow out on bitumen on the way to Cape York after some hard driving out to Arnhem land. One on our Colorado now has one of the treads flapping (hence three new ones are going on today) . Only getting new MT51's as I have a brand new spare that I wa...Read more
nt to use. All our hard 4wd is done now. I am not sure if this was good wear or not as they were hammered and were driven hard, we have pretty much gone everywhere. Hope this helps Size: 265/70 R16 117/114QSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Great off-road - a little noisy on the road
The Kumho MT51 tyres are available at a great price which was my main reason for purchase. I purchased 265/75/16 size and they are really grippy on the road and so far very good offroad. I got offroad as soon as I could and they performed really well in the mud and slippery clay. They have quite chunky tread (14.5mm depth) without being as aggressive as other mud terrain tyres; Kumho sell these as "Mixed terrain" tyres (50/50 MT/AT). So far I am very happy with them although they do make a bit of road noise, especially at 50km/h. The dealer assured me 70 thousand K's so we'll see, so far I've done 1000km.

Simply the best aggressive all terrain tyre on the market.
I have had these on the car for 3 weeks now and their performance has been better than I thought it would be, and I had high expectations!
On road: good wet and dry performance, lower noise levels than full blown muddies.
Offroad rock and tracks: Perfect! Couldn't ask for more. They have taken me through mud that full muddies couldn't get through. They have not chipped or lost traction on rocks either. They also eject mud and stones extremely well.
Offroad beach: great performance. Handled everything thrown at them. They do suffer a bit o...Read more

Very Happy Jan !
I was looking for a tyre that was good on the highway but still had an aggressive tread pattern suitable for off-roading. So far so good - just did a 1500 KM highway trip interstate and found the MT-51s quiet and provided quite good handling and very good grip on some very wet roads. I have only done a bit of off roading on them so far, but found them good - but have yet to test them in more taxing situations.
But I have heard good things about these tyres in offroad situations so I have confidenc...Read more
e they will perform. I recommend that you check out these tyres if you are looking for an all rounder, versatile off road tyre. - almost as aggressive as a mud-terrain, but highway enough to make road trips easy.1 comment

Are the walls on the mt 51 8 ply or 10 ply?
1 answer
They are a modern 3ply same as all LT 4wd tyres. When looking at AT/MT research the ply as you can also get 2 ply (town car tyres) people get these to save some money then complain when the walls blow out

i have bridgestone on my Izusu bakkie at moment they are 9 years old but dont travel that much. I must now replace with new ones not because of thread but because of age. The dealer said Kumho are good tyres it is 245/70 R16 do you think it will be ok?
2 answers
dunno ihave never heard that tyres need replacing cos of their age sides that as far as I know the bridgestones arnte a bad bit a gear but there u go the tyre dealer will only make a quid if he can con u inta new set re the kumho I cant realy remember how long they lasted 4 me I think it was about early 70,s k/s but not realy sure but long an short I think the dealer u r workin with is takin u 4 a ride but if u hafta the kumho,s r a nice bit a rubber
I am happy with the Kumho MT51 tyres but since they have an aggressive tread pattern, I wouldn't consider them unless you do a reasonable amount of offroading .
I have experienced a tyre failure due to age but it was double the age of your tyres and on a trailer .

I was under the impression that the mt51 had the m+s and 3pmsf approval but I can't find the 3pmsf symbol anywhere on the new tyres I have just purchased. Am I jist not looking in the right place or is it likely I have old stock before they put the symbol on?
1 answer
I only have M&S stamped on the tyre maybe contact Kumho Australia for verification, plenty of tyre suppliers state 3PMSF certification too...
