Hi l live off road, in the bush, quite steep hills on dirt roads, but also sealed roads nearby. Is this bike good for mostly dirt road riding..( not too extreme riding, also can you fit a rack to it if needed.?

Hi Jenny, I ride on both dirt and bitumen and have had no problems at all. Riding uphills I find being 90kgs the power is fine on average hills and on steep hills the power assisted pedals make them easy.

I have had the CrossX since April 2022 - Love it. Best thing I have done. I haven't ridden a bike for years as my area is so hilly. I was stuck and had to ride through water approx 15cm deep. After a while the Electric stopped working. Is there a manual on how to dry out the electric components or replace them?

G'day Tony, I do not know of any repair manual but you could try drying electrics with a hair dryer, if this doesn't work you could try contacting Leitner for advice and maybe replacement parts.

Thanks James. Itired the hair dryer on the controller - it didn't really look like it had water on it. Will contact Leitner

I find cross x handlebars to be comfortable when adjusted in a more upright position. I am 189cm tall and find cross x very comfortable to ride.

Hi has anyone from
Brisbane ridden this bike over the Gateway Motorway bike track? Just wanting to know if it has enough power to get to the top of the bridge? Thanks

Haven't ridden over the GB but I live in Kingscliff with many steep hills and find the bike easy to ride up them with 3 peddle assistance settings. On the high setting peddling is no effort. On a flat road can reach 30km/h with throttle only.
I am 54 years old and 90kgs.
Very happy with purchase, exceeded my expectations.

Can anyone comment on the long term durability of Leitner bikes? I’m thinking of buying one; all these reviews are impressive, but what about how they stand up over the long term?

Hi Rob. I’m not sure about the longevity of the bike as I got one not long ago, but by the framework material, design, and construction I anticipate that is going to last a long long time. I’m more than happy with mine. Cheers mate, Hugo

Mine does 60km per day 5 days a week carrying myself (85kg), a bike carrier (15kg), my daughter (26kg) and my son (24kg) as well as often carrying up to 20kg shopping (total of 150-170kg) and has held up exceptionally well. I've had to buy a second battery as the strain drains it more than normal and I've had to replace the planetary gear in the motor hub due to excessive strain being placed on it but it lasted a year before it got stripped and was doing 100km per school day for the last term of last year. If you aren't putting one through as much hell as I do your planetary gear should last 5-6 years easily and your battery should last 4-5 years. I've also had to replace the disc brake pads once (because of the extra weight wearing them down faster) and my stand also snapped off, but that was due to my son constantly throwing his weight to the sides (he's severely autistic).
The last damage done was my gear shifter display panel got shattered and my front mud guard got snapped off, but again that was thanks to my son. The frame is exceptionally durable, as are the wheel rims. The only thing that is a bit fragile are the wires on the front light as they detach easily and drop down onto the tyre then snap. I had thicker terminals attached to them after they snapped off and that fixed the problem until someone tried to steal my bike and snapped one off in the process.
A bit of a long-winded reply, but an honest one which I hope helps to aid you in your decision making process. If it helps, the staff at Leitner are exceptionally helpful and I've had great dealings wih Tim Leitner, Kitty and Damian- all three of whom have been phenomenal in assisting me to get my Cross-X back on the road everytime I've pushed it way past its limits.

For further clarification the most I've carried on the bike was just over 200kg carrying myself, carrier, both kids, about 30kg of supplies for a party and my daughters electric motorbike (22kg). The bike struggled, but still got the job done at about 20km/h... this was quite possibly what damaged the planetary gear leading to it stripping a few months later. So yeah, it's quite the powerhouse considering the price.

Hi guys! I'm wondering if anyone has successfully installed a rear rack on the Cross X mountain bike. I'm looking to install one on mine but I have no idea how to. If any of you guys have done so, will you post a photo of your bike please?

Hi Danny & Rob,

Thanks for the enquiry, obviously as the bike has rear suspension finding a rear rack can be quite tricky. However, while we do not provide any options ourselves a number of options do exist. Most bike shops or a quick Google search will be able to help you with a seat post mounted pannier rack. Just keep in mind that with these racks they generally are unable to take as much weight as a normal pannier rack.

Hope this helps

Kind Regards

Thanks for your reply Leitner!

My local bike shop said that it would be possible to fit a rack in provided that the rear suspension can be locked out. Can you please advise if this is possible?

Hi Boris.
I have the Leitner Cross X, and have ridden it up some pretty steep hills, but it just depends on how much effort you want to put in. I recommend that you contact Leitner through their facebook page or website. They are pretty helpful.

Thank you Doug for being so quick with your response. In the meantime I have taken the next step and ordered one, abt. 3 weeks waiting list but with the money back guarantee I'm not really taking a chance hej? am looking forward to making a couple of interesting trips before I kick it. (Bridle Track at Hill End and there is a wild ride in the Blue mountains from Springwood down the Fire trail to Blackheath, or the other way around, I'm not sure)
Last time I did that fire trail I had 3 flats, have to be more careful this time!wish me luck and the same to you.

Hi! Is there a rack and child seat that we can recommend which would still allow the removal of the battery for charging? I am concerned that a seat post solution may prevent the above. Thanks!

1 answer
Leitner
Leitner E.Leitner

Hi, thanks for your message. Unfortunately, we are unable to recommend any child seat to be installed onto the Cross X due to the design of the rear mudguard. There are rear racks available to be attached onto the seat post at most local bike shop or online. If you are in need of child seat on your ebike, we do not recommend the CrossX in this case. You might want to consider other model such as the Berlin Cruiser that comes with rear rack. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us on 1300 856 725. Thank you!

Thanks, I appreciate your reply. Though yesterday when I contacted you on that number you were unable to confirm that you could put a rack on the back. When I order the bike from you it will be on the proviso that a rack can be fitted.
Thanks again.

Hi
Just wondering what's your average speed on the bike say on a flat beyond the assisted power? With the 25kph max assisted power, beyond that is there a lot of resistance from the bike for further speed due to the bike weight etc?

1 answer
Leitner
Leitner E.Leitner

Hi, Thanks for your message. There are two functions on the bike, Pedal Assist Mode (PAS) which requires you to pedal along, and Throttle mode (without pedaling). It depends on personal performance for PAS as you are required to pedal along with different levels of assistance. For throttle mode, the bike will bring you to 6km/hr without pedalling. If you unlock the throttle, it will go up to 25km/hr which is not road legal. This speed may vary depends on the condition of the road. Hope this helps. If you have more questions, please give us a call on 1300 856 725 and speak to one of our friendly staff.

Hello, my husband and I are looking to buy 2 electric mountain bikes and saw your adds online. I am only 5 ft tall and currently ride a 26" bike with a 15" stem(?) would your mountain bike be suitable for my size.

1 answer
Violet.J

Hi
My son rides the Leitner Cross X 26" mountain bike easily, however he is 6'0 in height and as for the stem it measures 100mm, my son told me he really enjoys riding the bike but wants to raise the handle bar because it sits to low for him, I am 5'4'' and find that bike too big for me, you see I am older, so swinging my leg or any leg for that matter over his bike would be like trying to poll volt over Mount Everest. Although I have 2 Leitner electric bikes myself a Step Through 24 inch - and the also the folding version of that. I ride to work everyday, and when I am running late it can fly when I need it too. Hope some of this information helps you.
Cheers happy biking!
