Fantastic value for money, but...
I purchased this machine in August 2022, partly because of the good reputation Lenovo have for quality machines, and partly because for the price I paid - $770.61 Australian dollars, seemed excellent for the specifications.
For my money I got a 15.6" Full HD (1920x1080) IPS screen, AMD Ryzen 5 3500U with VEGA 8 graphics, a 256GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD, 8GB of DDR4 2400MHz RAM, AC wireless and BT, and Windows 10 Home 64-bit. Importantly, it also had an empty RAM slot for adding additional RAM, and an empty internal 2.5" SATA drive bay for adding ...Read more
a SATA SSD or HDD. I added another 8GB of RAM, using a Crucial CT8G4SFS8266 (8GB DDR4-2666 SODIMM), so it now has 16GB, of which 13.9GB is usable, as some of the system RAM is used for the GPU. I also very quickly discovered the achilles heel of this machine, the RTL8822BE Wifi and BT module. This is the only machine that has had any trouble maintaining a connection to my Wifi network, or even to my phone when used as an internet hotspot. I replaced the RTL8822BE with an Intel 9260, and have since not had any problems. Your mileage may vary, but if you have problems with the wifi, I'd strongly recommend swapping out the RTL8822BE for an Intel 9260 and that should fix all problems. I also discovered that this model is not properly compatible with the Seagate BarraCuda SSD series (tried with both a 250GB and 500GB Seagate BarraCuda SSD drive), while it will work, speeds are slower than when used with a traditional HDD. I installed a Crucial BX500 240GB, and this works as expected.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
