Any cars battery will go flat if not driven, its a common fault.

Shouldn't happen in a couple of weeks unless you have a leak somewhere. I am assuming your battery isn't on its last legs or anything.

What about the famous @ 150 000km timing belt change required & the coolant leak ? What's your take on this ?

Have not experienced either on IS 350. Have had three Lexus, RX 330, IS 250 C and IS 350. Did change timing belt on RX and it was a major service, around $2,000 as I recall but spread over 10 years, not that big! The others are still less than 50k but never a coolant leak!

Normal (major) service. Timing belt, timing belt tensioners, water pump and drive belts. If you got to an independent and competent mechanic, should cost anywhere from $1300 to $1800. Considering the task is every 150,000km it is not very expensive, but definitely understand it is a big hit of cash in one go.

These cars are very reliable. The main thing is to check that regular servicing is done as per log book schedule. Of course, like any second hand cars check for obvious signs of damage from accidents.

Excessive tyre wear
lexus gs 300 sports luxury 29,000 km inside of the tyres is exceptionally higher than that of the outside of the tyre. The inside front tyres don't have any groves and outside is like new. The lexus dealer assures me that this normal in all luxury cars including bmw and mercedes wear the inside of the tyres between 15,000km and 30,000km. Can anyone advise, if the lexus dealer is right?

I have a is250, 80k on the clock and back tyres are getting replaced this weekend. Front tyres needed replacement at 75k. A friend had an is250 replaced tyres at 45k., and then front again just 10k later. Dealer said tyre pressure was low and that caused high wear, appears you need to keep a good eye on tyre pressure with these vehicles. Unfortunately not many petrol stations keep their air calibrated. I don't believe what ur dealer said, I,d go have a chat to a tyre dealer.

If you are unsure you are probably better off buying 5 new tyres having them fitted, aligned and balancing them / there are few alright tyres such as dunlop, Bridgestone, Yokohama and Goodyear / though if you want to pay some serious dosh and splurge some funds I suggest a set of 4 tyres plus one spare tyre of Michellen or pirelli quality tyres
