I've had my vacuum for about 6 months and recently it has begun to speed up for 5-10 seconds and then go back to normal speed. It's as though it's switching in and out of turbo mode, even though I'm not using the turbo function. I'm wondering if this is a precursor to a major problem and if so, what can I do about it?

It does that when there is a blockage in the vacuum somewhere, have you checked everything is clear and your filters are clean?

Do you guys turn off the charger after your A9 is fully charged? Can't find the answer in the manual to determine if the charger is a smart one. Ideally a smart charger would stop charging after the battery is full (and not provide a trickle charge which reduces the life of the battery).

I see the in the Dyson v11 FAQ that it was designed so you can leave the charger on.

Hi Mik 23, yes I do have my LG on charge all the time as I use it continually during the day.
Plus it is always ready whenever I need it. The easy pick up and use of the LG vacuum is one of the reasons I brought it, have had it now nearly 5 months and still love it.

Mik23

Thanks Lynn, have you noticed any degradation in the battery life by leaving it on the charger?

Why would my lg vacuum of only months old make a crackling noise when I turn it off please?

Perhaps there is some debris in the dustbin that's just rustling around? Or is it coming from the motor? The unit has a 10 year warranty on the motor if you think there is an issue with it.

I clean it regulary, it is coming from the motor - not having much luck with the warranty as it's been in twice for this problem...… Thank-you

That's concerning. I will let you know if ours develops the problem.

Hi Ken i am a owner of one of these & not a company person, however due to having a holiday rental home we seem to end up a few buying new vac's. Plus i like Product Review where people can help on another.
Take it back as soon as you experience any problem LG i my experience have good after sales service so give them a call and am sure they will advise how they can best solve your problem. Cheers

Hi Paula.... I just left mine overnight for the first charge so cannot give you a more detailed time.

Hi Paula this is a difficult one for me to answer as mine came with two batteries and get the whole house done using both and then putting them back on the charger stand and haven't yet had the need to wait for recharge.
I might suggest though as i am a tradie and have lots of cordless tools is does them good to run them right down and recharge as most have like a memory. Short charging can reduce battery life & cycles. Cheers

Mik23
Mik23

Answering this question for other potential owners. According to the manual charging time takes around 3 hours.

Sorry Mork, but I don't think your comments regarding the battery is applicable in this case. The A9 comes with lithium ion batteries and do not suffer from the memory effect that you allude to (from older battery technology such as ni-cad). Actually li-ion batteries preferred to be topped up rather than being fully discharged and charged (which causes more stress on the battery).

I’m sorry I don’t know the answer to that question but what I can tell you is regardless of which one you purchase they will all fail as once you turn it off all of the rubbish and dust falls Right back out of the spout onto the floor.

Mik23

The main difference to look out for the is the attachments included. Compared to the Master, it includes a Total Care Kit with additional four different cleaning attachments and flexible extension hose. Compared to the Ultimate, it lacks the Power Mop. Also the Ultimate doesn't have the Total Care Kit, just the mattress tool.

It's a common problem with the Vacuum. I've had two and they both surge. Apparently LG are pleading ignorance with the problem.

After phoning the place of purchase I was advised to remove and thoroughly clean or replace the front yellow filter behind the LG logo. That worked and all is well, but the vacuum isn’t as efficient as I thought it would be.

I am seriously considering buying an LG Cord Zero - the model 2nd from the top of the range - the one without the mop attachment which I don't need but reading all the reviews, I am concerned about the alleged poor after-sales service if required. Several reviews refer to the motor "revving" etc with poor response from LG. I don't know what to do now - return to Dyson?

Hi Les,
I went into good guys for the issue I had and you will never believe it was a bottle cap off a water bottle stuck in there, even though I had pulled it apart and checked . I have the red one which is the model you are looking at, after this little problem, it is still an amazing unit works great. We have paid a little extra for the extended warranty, I have many LG products, I have not had any issues with LG after service, except when they couldnt work out what it my problem was, they told me it was faulty to take it back to get a replacement . Revving happens in Dyson stick vacs too I know this as a many of my friends have had this issue, they said its usually when the filter needs a clean or something could be stuck in there. I think revving could be a common problem .

Thanks for your answer Mina - I'm still doing a bit of research on the Internet - then I will decide. Thanks again. Les

It's true I own a Dyson V6 and when the suction gets blocked by something the power starts surging continuously on and off. It's a feature to let you know something is wrong. I personally would buy the Dyson because I don't like the fact that LG have pretty much just copied Dysons product. But if you can't afford the Dyson this looks to be the next best alternative based on everything I've seen and read.

To LG rep: Why is customer service so rubbish? Why would I take that chance? Reading these reviews it makes me turn away from LG.

hi, am doing the same, hunting for a new vac, but if the after sales isnt any good then you could be wasting your money, i have hunted the net for a cordless vac and i think i have seen every one there is on the market, but they all seem to have some sort of problem with them, makes me think that perhaps a battery operated machine just doesnt cut it, plus i just confuse myself on every one of them, this is good this is bad customer service is good then its bad, i think i will stick to my barrel corded Nilfisk, that never breaks down, i have had a second hand one for the past 20 years and not a hiccup, but iam getting old and i keep tripping over the 12 metre cord, i thought i would get a battery one, but now i am not so sure anymore, andt being on a pension, i dont want to throw money away, i have been in a position where i was fighting with customer service and they are bad enough to give a person a reason to do harm at times, so hope that these people read some of the reviews here and pull up their socks, so to speak, for now i will stick to my Nilfisk
