A warning to stay away from this model if it's still being built.
Performance.
Great microwave, enough power for domestic kitchen no problem.
Convection oven worked great too for crisping.
Controls.
Easy to do regular microwave tasks, not quite so easy to use convection. Disappointed that you can't mix both functions in the same cycle for what we wanted to cook.
Deeper control functions had me often referring to the manual as it was not intuitive to me.
Reliability.
Great reliability for 9 months or so. ...Read more

s. The repairs were done through an LG authorised repair agent locally and took one working week (which I think is fine). They apparently replaced the magnetron and the inverter board (to fix the late 'no cooking' issue) and did something with a door wiring loom.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Flakey. Random resets
Random turning off and resetting issue. Sent back from Repairers broken as before-said they couldnt find the problem. Got a new one on warranty from the good guys and the replacement unit developed the same problem-WTH?!! Couldnt be bothered with returning it for almost a year and then became unusable with multiple shut downs/resets during cooking cycle. Returned and sent to be fixed again under warranty, yep under warranty as product not of merchantable quality and 12 month warranty cut off does not apply. 6 weeks to wait for repair and w...Read more
e will see what happens. BTW the 120$ SANYO microwave I bought to use at home over the repair period works like a champion. Shame this product seems blighted with an intrinsically flakey component-?motherboard ?power supply. Will press for a refund if it breaks again and will see them in small claims tribunal if they dont come to the party. Stay tuned.

Worked good for about a year, then it all started...
Purchased this product just over a year now. Was working good. Cooking well (both microwave and convection). Only negative feedback during this time is the noisiness of it. Then, started to see the F-11 error appear at random time during cooking. Have to turn unit off and back on to have a guess how long was left on the cooking time to restart. Then the simple shut down started to happen. Completely turns its self off and back on. Now this is happening daily which is extremely frustrating. Twice I have also had the issue where the time would fr...Read more
eeze yet the microwave keeps going. My daughter was heating a pie for 3.5 minutes however when there was 19 second to go, timer stopped however the microwave kept going. I noticed this when the house stared to fill up with a burning smell and I saw the microwave still going with the timer frozen. Absolutely dangerous! What frustrates me the most was the lack of concern from LG. Asked to take to a repair place 70 kms away. Thought I would call them first to see if they have dealt with these issue before. Sales lady just said bring it in and can take up to two weeks. I didnt want to take in if they cannot repair as there are many other reviews of the exact same nature where even after 2 or 3 return visits to this same place and still not fixed. I now deem this product dangerous and would stay clear. Invest in a quality brand for microwaves. I myself have purchase LG products for many, many years from TVs, to washing machines, to monitors etc Extremely disappointed.Purchased in September 2021 at Harvey Norman for A$515.00.

I wish I’d got the add-on warranty offer
12 months and 2 weeks old and the inverter error code started. Inverter needs replacing. This is an expensive appliance and should be indestructible. Don’t buy one. Looks can be deceiving.

Have had it in for repairs twice for the same error in its 2 years factory warranty which was very inconvenient as a 40min drive each way to drop off and pick up. It is now faulting again with a different issue. I have only ever used for steaming and heating. The worst microwave I have ever owned. LG have agreed to issue a return authority so Harvey Norman are happy to give me a full refund. So happy customer now.

Good Versatile Faulty Microwave
Owned for a bit over two years. It’s versatile, cooks well and evenly. The downward opening door is great. But like the other reviewers noted the control board was faulty so that needed to be repaired under the 2 year warranty (good). That process was overly painful as LG should offer to repair a microwave at this price point and size with home service, especially since the flaw appears to be pretty common. The repairer was far away, it was inconvenient and took 10 days. However seems to be working ok now. It’s possible this issue has been sinc...Read more
e been resolved in more recent models. Mine was one of the first. The controls are a bit confusing and it has too many functions and you really do need to refer to the instructions. But the functions I tend to use regularly work well. The chime is a bit irritating and the fan is a little intrusive. All in all it is a pretty good microwave let down by a clearly known defect and pretty average LG customer service.Purchased in May 2021 at The Good Guys for A$549.00.

Best Convection Microwave I Have Owned
Bought this 18 months ago, used to have a Sharp 20 years ago.
Takes some getting used to because the timer jumps in 10 second intervals to 3 minutes, then 30 seconds after that. Also the maximum time it can be set for is 90 minutes, but if you needed 2hrs you could do it in 2 steps.
I use this instead of my older full size oven, takes just a few minutes to heat up, and is quite accurate with temperature. Never had any problems, the interior is easy to wipe down, the fold down door is a fantastic space saver, and the microwave function is awesome.
Would buy again.

Obviously a faulty product and LG just won't admit it
Like many other reviewers and of the MJ3966ABS, this microwave just keeps resetting back to the clock or turning itself off. It does when you open the door, or press stop and even does it when you've not even using it and in another room. I've been on the phone to LG and absolutely hopeless customer service. There are obviously known problems with this product, and LG just say take it across town to a repairer. Given others have had such problems with getting repairs and then if repair doesn't last, I think I'm just going to go back to Good Guys and see what they can do.
Shocking service LG.
OWN UP when you've created a faulty product and give your customers refunds, rather than sending them on a goose chase.

The lemon of microwaves
When you open the door or busy cooking or closing the door the microwave would jump to setting the timer. Has gone in for repairs. (took approx a month) and still have same issues. LG response: keep taking in for repairs even though they couldn't fix it previously. Everybody else seems happy with this microwave so feels like this one is a dud.

I've read through other reviews here now and 5 out of the 16 describes exactly the same issue we've had. So mine not just a dud seems to be a recurring issue. Stay away from this microwave, and so pricey as well for all this pain

The Perfect Appliance in any Kitchen
I have had & used some microwaves in my 70 years but this one tops the lot.
It seems to be fool proof as everything just comes out perfectly because of the convenient & easy to use control system, not just for the microwave but also the convection side as well. I am more than happy with it. Also so easy to keep clean.

Used for Office Kitchen. Durable and efficient.
Bought this microwave to replace an old one for our office kitchen. Our office has about 100 staff on the floor so needless to say, this gets used heavily. So far it has held up and no complaints from anyone. It simply does the job and does it efficiently. The oven feature doesn't get used very often but i'm sure it works just as good. The timer and heating functions were a bit tricky to figure out at first but once you get the hang of it, you'll find it has a lot of useful heat settings for different types of dishes.

Avoid
This was an expensive purchase about 18 months ago. A short time after buying it the over would reset when opening the door and so I eventually took it back to the store. It was allegedly fixed so back it came and started doing the same thing about a week later. So back again to the store and repaired for second time with a new door and board. Overall not impressed with this. Microwave function is ok but sounds like a chaff cutter when running due to the vibration of the case. I haven't used the convection function all that much but it doesn't seem to be as hit as the temperature says. I wouldn't buy another one.

Too many Bells and Whistles
I purchased this Microwave with the hope that because it was a Microwave, Inverter, Steamer, Convection and Grill it would mean I did not have to cook in my oven/stove. Unfortunately, this Microwave is so complicated and difficult to use that I find I really only use the Microwave feature for thawing and heating up. The instructions are vague (to say the least) and do not give enough example/instructions. So most of the time it is pure guesswork on how to cook everyday foods, for how long and under which function.
For example, it tells you ...Read more

lly mentioned in the owners manual/guide. When I complained how some items take up to 3-4 times the time to cook he said that I should accept that items will take longer to cook, and that the way this oven cooks is different to a normal oven and that because it still cooks food they consider that the oven is not faulty. In the end he cut me off mid sentence and hung up on me. For an expensive cooking appliance to be all guesswork and longer cooking times is just not acceptable. Not good enough LG, I will never recommend your products to anyone. PamSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Nothing but Problems
My microwave switched off mid cooking and display reset occasionally, i cotacted lg call centre who told me to take it to someone 70 km away. This repair centre has not handled lg for years. After telling the call centre i need to find another service agent they still tell me to go to the same place. I gave up but the problem got worse so i found a repair agent eventually who claimed the problem was something to do with the wiring moving when door opens,/closes. Happy with the fact they found intermittent problem and solution so quickly. This...Read more
didnt however explain turning off mid cooking. I did notice that sometimes when baking cakes the top didnt brown as expected and needed to increase cooking time but never gave it any thought at the time. I got my repaired microwave back and a week or so later after grilling a sandwich the cheese had not melted, i started looking at the top element and sometimes it wouldnt come on and most of the time it came on in waves which i assume is normal. But in baking mainly, sometimes, that top element wouldnt come on at all. This would explain the cakes not browning in the past. While testing my oven so often i noticed the display began to reset again so called service agent and retailer also. The service agent in far north qld has two others there with same display resetting issues at the moment, but it seems they dont really know how to fix it as mine has had the problem return. Come on lg it seems like a common fault, surely you have a solution by now. The repair centre say they have boiled water in it many many times now with no problems and because they cant find the fault they cant fix it, so bad luck to me. If i wanted a microwave that can boil water i would have paid $40 at a cheap shop but i wanted one i could roast and bake in and one that i could rely on to finish a cooking cycle so i paid the high end price. If i selected one that has a clock function, the clock function should work. The grill/oven element should work and the customer service should at very least be able to find a service agent for me. I have no reason to pretend my microwave isnt functioning correctly all the time, if it did work properly it would be a fantastic unit and my review would be great but i am having nothong but problems and lg should do more to solve this common issue. I have lg tv, fridge, washing machine and dishwasher, have had lg convection microwave before this one and been a happy customer. I dont think they should be able to force customers to purchase another of the same as it has issues. Beware this microwave may have issues they cant seem to resolve. Do you feel lucky? Thats wahat it boils down to i think. I must say my retailer betta home living is sympathetic to my cause has organised a courier for the 150km to repair centre and i feel they will help me on this when and how i dont know but theyre on my side.1 comment

Such a good design!
We recently purchased this lovely, stylish microwave and I am very pleased with it. It looks lovely in the kitchen but it also functions brilliantly. It is an inverter style one and it cooks so fast compared to my old machine - I have had to refigure cooking times by half in some cases! It also has very handy digital menus. I really am pleased with it!

Awesome Unit
In our previous home of 13 years we only used our LG Solardome so when we repurchased another home we realised we had to get a microwave and decided to get another convection oven. We loved this model because it has an easy clean interior, a steam unit which supports our healthy food options and easy to follow instructions. We really like the pull down door for easy access as our microwave opening is below the benchtop. It's also brushed silver so it matches our fridge and rangehood.

Very Disappointed
Bought new in June 2017. Not used until August 2017. By December 2017 I got sick and tired of the display disappearing up to 10 times a day. Took it to the LG nominated repairer and 4 months later got it back with a new electronic board and fan (did not know it was faulty). The display is still switching itself off, even when not in use. Compared to my older Panasonic unit the grill function on the LG unit is a waste of time. It is too small and largely inefficient for grilling anything and now the grill function is not operating at all. I have other LG products which I trust completely but this microwave has, for me, run its course.

Fault since day 1 and terrible warranty service
Bought it online and frankly had I gone to the store would not have bought it as is shockingly large by design. Still, decent looking and does the job for a microwave but not overly good results for baking and not too friendly to use for other cooking modes so makes for a very expensive microwave as we still opt to bake in the oven due to mediocre outcomes in the NeoChef.
Since day 1 we have had a problem with it reseting itself when we open it which we have put up with as usually we do not open it mid- cooking so just having the clock res...Read more
et was not a "make or break" issue and frankly took us a little while to realise it was the appliance fault and not us doing something wrong (as each of us thought the other person was resetting the clock or that we accidently erased the program mid cooking). I wish we acted immediately and returned it to the store as now that this is getting to be an issue since the "reset" now often happens if we open the door mid cooking and we lose track of where the program was at. Called LG who supposedly have excellent warranty service to be told this monster 39L oven (it is 52cm deep, almost 60cm wide and almost 40cm tall) that weighs as much as toddler DOES NOT qualify for onsite service and they want us to take it to the "nearest" service centre which is 1 HOUR'S DRIVE AWAY !!! I live in Sydney and find it shocking that they do not have any service centres that are not on the outskirts of Sydney. And I find it even more shocking that we are expected to take an appliance this large and this heavy to them ourselves.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Hi we are having an issue with the turntable. It is intermittent and noisy and often quite slow with its turning. We have checked wheels are all running well. White centre gadget is fitted in correctly under glass plate. Housing also appears clean and uninhibited. Worse with any extra weight other than small items. Starting to bug me and concerned it may seize up. We have had the machine 18 months still under 2 year warranty. We do like all the functions and have used it all the time.

Hi LG. Perhaps I have not read the manual in enough detail, but my problem is with convection cooking. After I set the temperature and time it cooks fine. BUT, if I need to baste roasting foods or continue cooking after the time that I set it will not work until the oven has cooled down. If I need to interrupt the convection cycle it continues with the timer counting down but the turntable is not working and not heating. I have returned it the the retailer twice now, (Hervey Norman Everton Park Qld.) but just get fobbed off. with my previous CMO, I could press stop, add quicker cooking vegetables or baste the roast etc, close the door and press start and it would continue. Not so with this LG. So....why?
Also, often have an issue where the control panel shows "door" even when the door is closed.
Expensive unit, I regret purchasing it.
Thank you, Mark Andrew. ([email protected])

Don't worry, Mine is supposed to go in for yet another repair. Great - another 3-4 weeks to get back a fault unit. Each time it comes back - new issues. Not impressed either considering I purchased this as it is supposed to have the "SMART DIAGNOSIS" function "Use this function if you need an accurate diagnosis by an LG Electronics service centre when the product malfunctions or fails. Use this function only to contact the service representative, not during normal operation." PFT - what a load of crap, so many times complaining to LG and they don't even use this . More interested fobbing you off to a repairer. In two minds reporting such a dangerous item to the ACCC. Never know - may cause a recall!
