Stylish with great customer service
We decided on this model for its promised functionality and modern aesthetic. Style wise it outshines all other brands and is everything we hoped for, we even like the jingle, however we have had an ongoing problem with function. Alicia from LG customer service has been extremely helpful and efficient in resolving the issue for us, going above and beyond to assist. The issue was resolved within 24hours and we’re very impressed and grateful. Now looking forward to enjoying our new replacement microwave - fingers crossed. Thanks LG!

Awesome Microwave
Didn't know what to expect being the first LG microwave I've purchased.
Didn't take long at all to realize that I made the perfect choice. From setting the time to navigating the menu options, it was all a breeze. User friendly for sure.
Popcorn heaven with this LG microwave.
Well done LG.

A good, inexpensive microwave
This is almost exactly the same as the slightly cheaper MS4296OBS, only it also has a knob - so to change settings you use a combination of the touch panel and the knob. This appealed to us in an anachronistic way, but it might not be for you. The knob can recess into the door (ie you press it and it clicks in) so it's not distracting.
What also appealed to us - the front is a solid black glass door with no special details like brushed aluminium strips to collect dirt etc. After buying it we were pleased to find it by default also has no clock...Read more
to set when the power goes out, and after a while of not being used the LED on the front turns off so it's totally black, which is a nice change from many other appliances that seem to love to bathe the kitchen in blue light. Look, it's a pretty basic microwave but it does what it's supposed to do. It's powerful. It heats evenly. It has a number of auto settings you can use if you want, otherwise just tap the start button for 30 seconds of heating. Keep tapping it to add more time. Things to be aware of. At 42L it is pretty big externally as well as internally, so you need to make sure you have enough space to fit this. Allow for the door opening as well - if you want the microwave to sit flush with the wall, you will need a reasonable amount of space on the left for the door to swing open. The shiny black glass is a fingerprint magnet. Operating is quiet, but when it finishes it sings a little happy tune for a few seconds. If you don't open the door, after a while it will sing again to remind you that it's lonely and wants attention. [There is no option to disable that, other than physically opening the microwave and cutting the speaker wire which would not be great for warranty ** Edit ** You can turn the tune off! Touch and hold the stop/cancel and inverter/defrost buttons for two seconds, and the words "off" will appear and glorious silence will greet you next time it finishes heating something. It will come back if the power goes out, but it's easy enough to set. Now I know this hidden feature that was not in the manual - thanks Alicia from LG for the info! - I've added another star to the review.] Speaking of which, it apparently has a 'smart diagnosis' function - basically you call their help desk, they ask you to press some buttons on the microwave, and then you hold the 'phone up to the microwave and it will send some tones down the line to help with the diagnosis. Clever, but I hope we never have to use it. Overall, pretty happy with it so far. It looks good, it is big, it is simple to use and does the basics well, it seems well made, and it was not expensive so great value.Purchased in February 2021 at The Good Guys for $269.00.

Not sure if my review was 'raving' as such, which indicates madness although it is possible the happy tune the microwave keeps playing might slowly push one of us over the edge, but we are definitely so far finding it to be good. ;-)
Update - thanks Alicia for the extra info you sent on how to disable the sounds on the microwave. I've updated the original review noting how to do it, as well as given it an extra star as, frankly, it's now hard to fault. :-)

Died after 2 years and 2 months of light service in a 3 person home.
Good microwave when it worked. Unserviceable keypad died 26 months in, Not worth its weight in Dirt now. Shame it easy to use, noe has F-3 error.. Keypad is moulded into the door. Cant save it.. Only opening in the control panel has a connector right below it, Poor design internally, Lets Insects into circuitry...

The Noise!!!
This microwave plays music all the time! The noise is like a cheap throw away toy. The noise cannot be turned off with this model. When you turn it on it plays a tune. At the end of cooking it plays a tune. If you haven't opened it quickly, it will play the same tune, on and on. Ask before purchasing an LG Microwave whether you can turn the noise off. If you prise off the panel behind the door you can remove the speaker but you will void your 2 year warranty.

Very annoying microwave
This microwave drives me NUTS. It behaves as a microwave should, heats food etc.. then it gives a little tune when the function is completed, and the microwave turns off - so far so good. BUT then it does not shut up. Unless you get up and open the door straight away, it keeps playing that darned little tune - over and over and over and over. Too bad if you are feeding a baby, or have other things to do other than open the microwave door. There is NO option to mute this, or change the settings. It is very intrusive and annoying.

Had a Sanyo microwave for 18 years. Thought of replacing it and bought this LG model in October, as it was looking good. However, doesn't heat food after a day. Replaced with another model, hope that works as well.

Great when it works
I purchased version 1 in 2018 and was very happy with until it kept displaying an F-3 error message. Thankfully this happened just before the warranty expired. After a frustrating period between returning to the Good Guys and the technicians I had the faulty one replaced with version 2, same model.
Alas, after just 5 months I now get the same message. This time I'll go straight to the technician but won't replace with same

looks great but does not last. LG service is terrible
LG very sleek looking microwave was fabulous for just over a year, plays a great tune at the end and heated food well.
14 months in and it turns on, carousel goes around but it does not heat. I called LG (off shore call center) and even though they could see from the serial number the manufacture date how new it still was, because I could not find the receipt there is zero support.
This would normally still be covered under warranty but no receipt it’s $88 for them to look at it. I feel the customer support is lacking and I am contributing to landfill buying a new one and definitely never an LG again

Very happy
We’ve had this microwave for approx 7 months now and it’s been great. The light turns off after a period of time when I leave the door open to let it dry out, it cooks the way it should with no drama, it’s pretty and it’s super quiet compared to my last microwave.
2 little issues I have is trying to change the time requires the power to be turned off and on which is a bit of a pain when it’s recessed in a tight area with the power point at the back.
And with 4 kids and grubby fingers I’m forever cleaning the smudges on the black glass where the start/stop buttons are.

Not always operating at full power and quality control a bit questionable.
Firstly, took 3 examples of this microwave to get one that worked properly. Bought from Good Guys. First one didn't heat properly maybe operating only 30% of power and food was coming out uncooked. Second one, the LED light worked while cooking but not when the door was open. Third one was OK.
When working at full power the microwave is fairly powerful. It boils a mug of water in about 1:50 to 2 minutes on high.
Never had any issue with uneven cooking.
I use the microwave for more than reheating and I put it to the test. Sometimes I cook ris...Read more

Easy to use and looks good
Had this for almost 2 years now and it hasn't missed a beat. Super easy to use with the rotary dial rather than the plastic "did I press it" buttons. Turn the dial and it increments in 10 seconds but very fast to get it to a few minutes though - or press start which increments in 30 seconds each time press. It's a good size, easy to clean and looks sleek. Very happy.

F3 Fault and offshore phone support
update 17/8/19
Door replaced and returned - problem with water into door electronics; typical issue with this model; repairer suggested leaving door open after use to dry out which we are doing
*******************************************
Repeated F3 faults on 1 year old microwave.
LG support not interested in replacing a low cost item even with photographic evidence of repeated F3 faults coming up on keypad.
Insist I must go to across town service centre to assess.
Also very average off shore call centre - hard to understand all round
No more LG products for me

Simplistic functional and powerful design that ticks all the right boxes with a big warranty!
Just retired our old microwave... From the moment you turn it on. Setting the time is easy with the roatary dial.
THE BEST part is the one push start button for 30 seconds or keep pressing to add a further 30 seconds each time! We love this function. Alternatively the rotary dial is very easy to clock up a desired time and clicks in for a clean look if desired.
The neat black all glass door is easy to clean and doesn’t seem to show fingerprints quite like previous stainless steel microwaves we have had.
It’s INVERTER! I thought all microw...Read more
aves were inverter these days. But that is not the case. Inverter microwaves can vary the output of energy from 10-100% - this provides a very even energy to cook at various power levels and is therefore significantly better at defrosting and reheating, and not pulse cooking like traditional microwaves that just cycle on and off at 100% in pulses. The door handle is designed in such a way to prevent fingerprints as you grab behind the handle to open - not a push button. This also stops it sliding back in its hole every time you push the button, as was a problem with our previous Panasonic.Purchased in March 2021 at The Good Guys for $288.00.

Great Product, size and look
I used to own a sharp microwave which was 12 years old and still working fine but it was time to change and upgrade to something new.
Actually, I did some research and this Microvawe oven had some good ratings so I've purchased one and so far has been one my best purchases, especially for me that I hate reheating the food in the microwave as the reheated food was always tasted differently to the fresh food, I can't mainly reheat the chicken as it tastes awful for me so I've been using an air fryer instead but I've tried reheating steak and chicken in this microwave and it didn't change the taste and now I prefer to heat it up in microwave as it won't dry the food like the air fryer.
It comes with 2-year warranty.

Gets the job done, but has been a bit quirky
We bought this to replace a ten year old microwave which died on us. Sadly it's not amazing, but looks very nice.
Pros: 30 second quick cook function
Nice finish music
Cons: Uneven heating
Fan stays on after heating has finished sometimes
Sometimes it stops by itself before the time has finished
When we boil eggs, it sometimes makes some parts brown and rubbery (previous microwave was fine)

Just works - hopefully will last - quick just do not have seconds tuning
this thing has a lot of functions and keep food cook at the right temp.
also does defrost excellent.
simple to work and does not need to cool down.
only thing is does not have the seconds tuning so you could not heat up small item for 42 seconds. only in 10 sec increments ....

What’s the LG service centre number for PERTH, Western Australia? I get the F-3 error repeatedly and it’s driving me insane.

I purchased my microwave from the Good Guys in Adelaide and contacted them for the address and phone of the company that services LG.
The first time I got a replacement and the second time the door was replaced. I'm hoping I don't see F3 again before the warranty expires.
I suggest you contact your dealer and ask for the LG service details.
Good luck.

Is it normal to have a lot of condensation around the outside of the microwave after use?
2 answers
I haven't noticed but ours is recessed into a cabinet
not on the outside - lots of condensate on the inside
after getting mine repaired (replaced complete door and electronic panel due to water ingress) I'm following repairers recommendation to keep the microwave door open when not in use to keep insides dry and avoid the F3 fault (water inside door electronics) again

What does the dial knob do when it’s pushed in vs not pushed? I can’t find anything in the manual
