OK for 1 yr then major failure & bad service
It worked fine for 13 months. Does the job ok until that point.
LG Customer Service terrible, frustrating & difficult. Waited for 1 month for repair & then couldn't get part. I only received a replacement after complaining on social media!

Extremely quiet!
So far I love our microwave. It is powerful, very fast at reheating and the best quality it is very quiet for a microwave. We haven’t had it for long but extremely happy with our choice.

Usable volume of 42l NeoChef similar to old 32l Panasonic
Something important for me that I have not seen on any other review is the usable volume of the microwave, which is roughly limited by the distance from the center of the turntable to the nearest wall and ceiling. In the NeoChef, the oven has an additional few cm depth on the left than on the right (hence space on the right is what matters), and more ceiling space in the front than the center (with center ceiling space being what matters most), and more depth at rear than front (with front therefore being the limiting depth). The advertised v...Read more
olume appears more related to the widest, tallest and deepest parts of the cavity rather than the nearest wall / ceiling that something on a spinning turntable could hit. By contrast my 9 year old 32l Panasonic has the highest part of the ceiling over the middle of the turntable, so something like a tall packet of microwave rice can be maneuvered in. The dimensions provided by LG are not incorrect; most users just won't be able to take direct advantage of the full space advertised. We wanted more usable space; the LG doesn't provide it even though the external dimensions are larger than the 32l panasonic inverter. In numbers: LG's stated oven cavity (mm) 395W * 406D * 262H. My estimates of 42L LG usable space for spinning turntable plus or minus a few mm: 370 (W, D) * 213 H Usable space for 2011 Panasonic 32L inverter (mm): 370 (W, D) * 205H (door opening) / 225H (center above turntable). On other things: - dark internal microwave surfaces are popular now; they mean harsher and less usable light inside the oven despite the bright LED in the NeoChef. - hopefully the antibacterial coating is useful; we didn't have trouble keeping our old white microwave interior clean. - inability to set times in less than 10 sec increments is common on microwaves now but can be a problem with a high-powered microwave like this, as a few others have noted. In 2020, it seems amazing that we have gone backwards - it would be very easy to provide sub-10s increments as an option if not the default.

Uneven heating
The functionality of this oven is great and the inverter features work well. However, this microwave does not heat food evenly on the default setting which is frustrating.
Sections of the food are scalding hot while others are left cold.

ANOTHER DISAPPOINTED USER - STUPID TONES/NO TIMER
Whilst the product rates well across the board (including on Choice.com.au), the fact that the microwave has three big failings is almost enough for me to turf it.
The issues;
* crazy child-like (think Mario) tones when an operation is finished. AND there is no way to disable or change these tones.
* there is no timer - our previous microwave was the standard timer in the kitchen for all cooking
* if you want to change the time (daylight savings), you need to unplug the device for it to reset.
Seriously bad in terms of end-user experience. Like I said, operationally it works, but the experience is terrible.
Purchased in May 2021.

Obliterates 2.4ghz wifi signals
Cons:
- The inverter magnetron obliterates 2.4ghz wifi signals. If you don't suffer this issue, you're either not using 2.4ghz wifi, or your devices which use 2.4ghz wifi are kept far away from the microwave. This appears to be a problem for inverter magnetrons in general, not LG specifically.
- The "stainless steel" attracts smudges and fingerprints very easily, unlike Westinghouse models.
- There are rough seams in the plastic moulding at the top right corner of the door. At least the door lines up flush with the housing when closed,...Read more
unlike some other brands. - During the day, reflection of ambient light from the front window prevents you from seeing inside, despite LG's efforts to use bright internal LED illumination. At least they tried, unlike Samsung models which are practically opaque even at night.Purchased in September 2021 at The Good Guys for $250.00.

Simple to use
We got this microwave to replace our old LG that just stopped working one day.
This new one lives up to the LG name. It does a great job at heating food evenly and is very easy to use. I'm yet to find any inconsistencies with how warm the food is or how mushy/soggy it can be with other microwaves.
The controls are very easy to use. The door has a few buttons on it and covers a more detailed control panel, but for the everyday use, the time buttons and quick start on the door are more than enough. If you want to use a more specific feature, yo...Read more
u select it before you close the door. It's rather simple. My only gripe with this microwave is the song it plays when it has finished heating up. It's ok, but can get annoying quickly if your hands are full/dirty, and is a little to quiet if you are in another room. Overall, we are very happy with this microwave.Purchased in June 2021 at JB Hi-Fi Retail Stores for $249.00.

LG 42L Stainless Steel Microwave
I purchased this microwave in hopes that it would last me a long time,
Let me tell you I will have this microwave for the next 10 years ! (according to the 10 year parts warranty)
The microwave itself is a snug fit in my pantry, it fits on the shelving almost perfectly, allowing me to hide it from view, thus giving me more room on my kitchen bench.
It heats cold items extremely fast, my old microwave would take a very long time, where as this one is very zippy.
Its also extremely easy to clean, after putting chickpea soup in the microwave ...Read more
i forgot to cover it, causing it to explode everywhere, I was able to clean the inside with just a paper towel due to the internal ceramic coating. My only issue is sometimes it wont register the press to start the microwave, meaning you may have to press quite hard to get it going.Purchased in June 2021 at JB Hi-Fi for $249.00.

LG 42L Microwave Sleek, Stylish
Purchased the LG 1200W Stainless Steel 42L Microwave Oven July 2022. It's sleek, stylish and has plenty of room to cook/reheat food. The stainless steel compliments our other stainless steel appliances and is easy to clean. The instructions are fairly easy to follow and has numerous preset menu function. So far we have only used it to heat food and it has done it quickly and evenly. The only negative I find is you can't set the timer less than 30 seconds using the touch pad. You can increase and decrease the timer once it has started by sliding...Read more
your finger left or right on the - or + control pad. Depending on the amount of time initially selected this can increase or decrease the timer by 10 sec - 1 minute increments. Otherwise for shorter reheating that requires less than 30 seconds you will need to manually stop it before the 30 seconds is up. One other annoying feature I find is it plays a tune instead of a chime once the timer cycle has completed. It also comes with a two year manufacturers Warranty.Similar opinion? Excellent
We had a Smeg and I thought I’d was good. But it only lasted a couple of years. I actually came into product review to choose this LG. The ratings were high and the price from good guys was great. So we decided to give it a go. This oven has the inverter defrost and that is excellent. No more cooked edges with frozen centres on defrost. The ability to use the simple glass controls with the door close or the more detailed keypad with the door opened is handy. The oven is powerful with 1200 watts. The only thing I don’t like is the annoying tune ...Read more
it plays when it’s finished. The rest of our devices are pretty much Miele but they don’t make microwaves really which is a shame because I have never had any Miele device die, but this oven holds its own against its German siblings. So both thumbs up so far.Purchased in January 2021 at The Good Guys for $288.00.

Absolutely love this microwave
Been using this microwave for 15 months now, and I wouldn't be without it. I especially love the sensor feature. It works brilliantly for fresh veggies, and cooks rice perfectly.

Won't heat after 12 months I want my Panasonic back
This microwave stopped heating after 12 months. To explain my issue via chat was a nightmare. The LG service centers are inconvenient to get to and only open Monday to Friday. Not really great if you work. Lets hope I don't wait too long for my microwave to be repaired. I hope it lasts longer than 12 months this time! Give me my Panasonic back any day!

Simple, elegant, reliable
The product looks beautiful, functions are easy to use, food is cooked evenly every time. Interior is easy to clean, the 42L model is the perfect size where as the 23L is a little small in my opinion. This microwave does its job well, purchased from Good Guys, would have loved this in stainless steel black but was not available at the time.

Converted to loving my microwave
I'm normally a microwave skeptic. Patchy reheating, half-cooked meat when defrosting.. basically a pretty average experience and I mostly used it to melt butter, reheat leftovers and heat up wheat packs.
I'm pretty much converted to using this thing all the time. If you use its smart settings, it actually does a really great job. Cooks fresh veggies well, defrosts without half cooking meat, reheats without destroying the texture of everything. The keep warm function is excellent and really handy too. And finally, a microwave door you can op...Read more
en and close without waking up the baby! It's easy to clean, too. I like the feature of opening the whole front of the unit and concealing most of the buttons. I could do without the little jingles it plays at the end, while defrosting, and those regular reminders when it's finished (I'm not likely to forget I put something in there for 2 minutes!). But ultimately at least it's a cheerful tune and even though we all end up whistling it randomly, it's much quieter than our old microwave and far less annoying. It would be excellent to have the option to mute it. If you're trying to decide whether to get this one, go for it. I doubt you'll regret it.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great Buy
This replaced a very old microwave of the same capacity. What we first noticed was the smaller footprint. We were then pleasantly surprised by the many functions and found the sensor so easy and convenient to cook and reheat. The noise was not a problem because our old model was much worse. 24 Month warranty is a bonus that competitors were not offering. The instruction book is comprehensive and easy to read. The interior is well lit when in use. I found the touch pad on the door a little small and needed to train myself to find the right spot ...Read more
but this is a minor inconvenience. I did my research first and am very pleased with this buy. We wanted the Black model but got the SS for the same price when Black was unavailable. It looks good and is the same except for the exterior.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

A good microwave
This microwave is powerful and quickly heats the food. It doesn't make to much noise and is reasonably quiet. It is easy to use, and the buttons are very easy to press.
Has to separate control panels: the external one is very simple with basic functions and the internal one with more options.
It has a good look and we like its nice and simple appearance.
It is also easy to clean.
It's been a few weeks we are using it and haven't noticed any issues.

Highly recommended!!
I have never bought LG machines in past and bought washing machine, fridge and microwave when I moved into my new house. Highly satisfied with all machines really. Microwave in particular is very quiet, warms up to the centre of the container (the centre can remain cold with other machines), very easy to clean and very energy efficient machine. Well worth the money.

Works well
I have experienced no issues with this product however i cannot find any features which would make me look towards buying this microwave again. My food heats up as expected however it could be more powerful.
the stainless exterior also scratches easily showing wear and tear earlier than I expected.
