Our machine won’t automatically drain. We can lay the hose flat on the ground and then it will manually drain but not when its during the cycle and in the sink.
We have replaced the drain pump and it’s still not pumping out.

Hey there,
Firstly I'm NOT a washing machine repair man, but a retired TV repair man that used to fix most stuff at home.
I've actually just got rid of the same model, major failure of bowl motor and drive PCB and not cost effective to repair.

Without being hands on it's hard to say what the problem might be on your machine but there's not a lot involved in bowl drain - pump motor, hoses, drive PCB and cables from memory.
Given that the thing drains if you put hose on the floor suggests strongly either pump motor, pump control PCB or electrical cables and since you've replaced the motor already, that only leaves a pump motor control problem.

I don't have a schematic or anything but from memory the pump is driven directly either from the main display PCB or more likely from there and then via the smaller drive control PCB (also drives drum motor) that sits underneath.
Neither PCB is serviceable and is sold as a complete spare part, the smaller control board is around $150 from bigwarehouse.com.au although you may do better.
The larger main PCB is also available but at around $500 pretty much writes the machine off.

Good place to start is to measure if there is any applied voltage to the pump motor during drain cycle, then tracing cables back to the drive source (one of two PCB's) and measuring again to see if you have a wiring fault.
If no applied voltage at either end then you're stuck with expensive board replacement.

A word of caution though, pump motor is likely 240V mains driven so for someone inexperienced, poking around in a place where there's 240V mains is potentially LETHAL!
If you're not familiar with how to work with electricity, don't go there, much better to replace a machine than suffering electrocution (I've lost a few friends over the years who should have known better)

Hope that helps

Cheers and good luck,
Rudy

Thank you Rudy, I really appreciate such a thorough response.
On a side note, how good are Big House Spares?! I’ve used them a lot recently for various appliances, including the drain pump for the washer and have been very impressed.
I think we’ll just save any more problems and invest in a new machine.
Thanks again!

My LG WT-H650 wont draw water and fill. It only does this sometimes and then the next day it will work like a dream. We have checked the filters, hoses, water pressure etc. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Hi Sarah
I have no idea why it would be doing this, sorry, I have been lucky enough not to have had this issue with my machine.

My machine won't drain. Checked all the hoses and filters but the pump is still not working. Machine has just turned 6 years old so I'm wondering if I should replace the pump or the machine? Surely I should get more than 6 years.

Hi we replaced the pump when we had the same problem but then the PC board packed inn .. We now also replaced the PC board and machine seem to be working fine. Hope this help in order for u to make a decision. (Both were easy to be replaced my ourselves)

We have the same issue, we think it is the main board, PC Board. It's $250 plus to purchase, it really isn't worth it. The manufacturers are clever these days, they make them to typically not last like machine of years ago, 20 plus years. There's no money in making things last long, there's no money in that for them, but plenty of headaches and costs for the public. There should be a worldwide class action. They even make components break sooner, like spider arms in front loader washing machines. some brands of Samsung, they all go. Whirlpool the same, the boards all go in them at around 3 years old, even if the rest of the machine is in mint condition and been looked after. manufacturers are responsible for generating so must waste, not the metal, but the plastic, unless it can be recycled.

Hi it most likely the PC board. You can get one on-line and replace. LG never give any advice or help. The PC board causes the machine cycle error.

You need to consider how old is your fridge, where did you purchase it from, it always good to have warranty if anything goes wrong, how long since this problem happen when you purchased it, take it back to the shop if you purchase it yourself.

I am not a machine mechanic, but it sounds to me like the pump to empty is not working. You will need a mechanic to fix it.

We have the same problem. Just started on Sunday. I have cleaned the filter & the pump and it worked for 2 more cycles, now the message is back. New Pump time I guess.

My 2-1/2-year-old machine gives an OE error message (which I understand is drainage failure) and there is a burnt smell inside, with the machine stuck in the rinse stage of a full cycle wash. Hose removed and water can come out, so no blockage, etc. Pump problem? Worth repair? Thanks!

Hi Patrick, I'm no expert, but if there is a burnt smell that would tell me maybe the motor or pump has burnt. Its a pity its probably out of warranty, but maybe its worth a call to LG for advice.

I agree an even though you pull the hose off there could be something blocking it inside, An in return you get the smell like its burnt out

I have a LG WT-H 650 washing machine It has an ae error. Any ideas?

The AE error message indicates a leak has activated the flood protection device in the base, turn off your water. Lean the machine forward (or backward) & see if water runs out of the base. If it does you may be able to restart...but the source of the leak will need to be identified & fixed. I think it would be wise to remove the lid & check if the inlet valve has popped first.

I think this is a mechanical problem between the motor and the drum. The manual says AE error is related to 'Clutching problem' and call authorized technician to repair it. May need parts replacement.
