WTG8532WH (8.5kg)

Hi we have the LG WTG8532WH machine, the amount of lint on our washing is ridiculous, this is the worst washing machine we have bought, we have cleaned the inlet filters and the lower drain plug filter, which is being done weekly, we do the tub clean monthly but nothing is working, we are still getting lint on our washing, the washing machine has on it filter free symbol, how do clean this washing machine out and stop the lint covering our washing, not a happy LG customer, maybe consumer affairs can help us as the washing machine isn’t performing correctly, NOT HAPPY LG IN YOUR PRODUCT

Looks like alot of people with this 8.5kg model are reporting a lint problem. I guess it is not scrud (which is caused by soap powder build up with cold washes). Scrud can get on clothes. I always warm wash to prevent scrud. If it is lint then I guess if the machine is not working in this dept. Only way is to wash lint type items together e.g. towels and other items separately. I have had a terrible run with several LG WTG7532W (7.5kg). No lint problem but repeat DE faults on lid caused by either the magnets or hinges. No help at all from LG. call centre.. They do not care about their customers or faulty products at all.

Bought the machine in April 2016. Lint! Lint! On everything. Lint filter no don't one. Wash the clothes then go outside with a lint brush before bringing the clothes inside. Where does all the lint come from? Previous loads. As for service in Canberra act. One company only. One other Company want service call fee over the phone when you book. The other is sooooo busy can't service for at least another week. As for the LG Care centre, don't think the staff are in Australia. For future reference don't buy it unless it has a lint filter. LG products are good. Question - why no lint filter in this model?

Sounds like your filter at the bottom at the back of the machine. Suspect that could be full, in is further in the outlet pipe I think from memory. Needs cleaning that might solve it??

Hi Kristine, yes it does. Should be on the barrel on the inside on the side somewhere. Don’t know how to explain it sorry. But that where mine is. You have to like pop it open.

Hi, mine is a stainless steel inside but theres nothing else on the side. Just the drum.

no lint filter, hence I posted about dirty washing, impossible to get clean sheets, the lint sticks to the sheets and gets in the creasers, the sheets come out dirtier than when you put them in. Of course you can do a drum clean of two, which uses up 3+ hours of electricity, not good for reducing our carbon foot print. I asked about the lint filter at the time or purchase and was told the machine doesn't need it as it washes all the lint away, which is absolutely not true.

We have been generally happy with our machine, except for the erratic timer. It seems to reset the amount of time to go without any human input. We can check the time to run and it may be, for example a few minutes, when we go back five minutes or so later, it has changed to 20miutes or more to run. It has always done this but at first only occasionally, now it is with almost every wash. Any suggestions?

Ooh,no sorry. The only thing I can think of maybe its adding time according to the load? You may have to contact LG. I have always found them to be really helpful.

Thanks, I did that but all their call centre (Philippines, I think) did was refer me to one of their authorised repairers - $110 for the visit and $22 per 10 minute period for labour plus parts. No advice without a service visit I'm afraid.

Hi, I think it depends on what wash setting you have it on,it doesnt work with all of them. I know to use it by itself you just press the spin button until it gets to the one you want and then press start... I know you cant use it on delicates or quick wash, the others Im not sure, will have a look at mine later and let you know!

Hi Elaine, just hold it for 3 seconds and it will come up. You can choose the time but I've never actually tried it.

I have never had a problem like that with either of our LG machines. Could it be fabric softener? I was getting a bit of build up in my front loader (Electrolux) and I have just switched to using vinegar instead and its fixed the problem,,it works just as well, its far cheaper and it cleans the machine as well! I know if you wash in cold water the fabric softener goes thick and gunky, especially in a front loader. Otherwise it could be too much detergent? Have you tried a tub clean?

I have not attempted to remove the lid for cleaning. I use a soft cloth to run along the hinged area which is a difficult area to clean. I had the message again today when washing that the lid wasn't closing properly however my usual clean fixed it up.

Hi. I bought the 7.5kg top loader but am having an issue with adding detergent. Whenever I add liquid detergent, it just leaks onto the clothes. I feel like I am missing a part for the detergent section. Can anyone confirm?

2 answers
Saint

Same here. It seems that is the way it works. A bit stays up in the tray and when the machine is started the water washes the rest in. I suspect you can just add it directly. The softener is a different story. It comes in at a point in the cycle.

Janetta
Janetta

I use liquid detergent for clothes and yes it leaks through the detergent dispenser but it has not been a problem. When the water comes through all the detergent disappears. I do not use a full cap of detergent, maybe only three quarters.

I have pets and regularly have to remove lint buildup. At back of machine, at the base is the hose connection for water going out. Empty tub then undo clip and remove hose. Some water will still empty onto floor. Remove lint from just inside...will often come out with water. If lint builds up machine won't work.
