Five years on - still love these containers

published

I purchased a range of lock & lock containers for pantry storage 5 years ago. I use the small containers for herbs & spices and larger containers for flours etc. I find they stack nicely and do not move in my pull out pantry. I also find the lids easy and the click is very satisfying - my kids have no trouble using these.

Five years after purchase and not a single container has broken. When empty the containers are washed in the dishwasher - top or bottom rack, wherever it will fit - on auto setting and I've not experienced any warping or other issues that some of the other reviews mentioned. The negative reviews left by others do not match my experience at all.

Purchased in January 2021.

They do not stack well &, therefore, take up more space than necessary.

published

I understand the quality of the product but as storage space can be an important issue, these are a let down. Only the smaller size will stack inside the next size up - if you have several of the same size, they don't fit inside each other but sit precariously on top. I really regret purchasing these for that reason but I bought a large 60 or so set & didn't use them straight away so couldn't do anything about it & now I'm always rearranging everything in frustration, trying to fit them in which wouldn't be such an issue if they really did stack properly. I've never encountered this 'oversight' before & can't ignore it when it comes to my rating.

Purchased in July 2021.

Best snaplock-type system I've tried.

published

I use several sizes in this Lock & Lock system, they don't leak, are easy to see through, easy to open and stack really well. I use them mainly to freeze soups, meals and even cake, I don't have a microwave or dishwasher and find them very successful for my purposes.
I've got several other plastic containers including Tupperware; Decor (hopeless); and Sistema, but the Lock & Lock I consider the best of the lot. I haven't purchased Tupperware for years and the lids on most of the ones I still have are hard for me to open as I have arthritis in wrists, and one lot the lids have never fitted properly. Very Happy with Lock & Lock.

Lock and Lock plastic containers - DO seal!

published

Lock & Lock lids

published

These lids are NOT dangerous. They do warn you not to use the lids with the seal side down in the microwave as it will cause a vacuum. The same holds true with putting hot items in them and not letting them cool down. It stands to reason that this will also cause a vacuum. If you do put the lid on after placing a hot item in a container you can get the lid off with a butter knife between the lid and the edge of the container and gently twisting the knife. The lid will come right off. I have done this many times. If used properly they work like a charm. Remember when reading negative reviews on any site it doesn't mean that the user is using the product the correct way.

The lids.

published

The lids are very hard to open, and some of mine wouldn’t even click to close (to lock), too annoying to use. I dropped one on a hard wood floor one day and the whole thing opened up. By the way contrary to what they claim, they do leak and NOT air tight! I don’t use them anymore, except for dog bowls and mixing up paint for crafting, etc.

Dangerous!

published

Be very careful with this product. It's dangerous! If you put something hot in it you have to wait until it is completely cooled off before putting the lid on. And even at that, you can't get the lids off. You cannot heat up with the lid on either. It causes a vacuum and the lid sucks into the container and could explode if you try to pry it off. These are the worst containers I've ever owned. The lids are always getting stuck to the container and there is no way to pry them off. I've had to throw away at least a dozen pieces with the food still in them, wasting $$$ dollars.

Lock & Lock no other.

These containers are great. I love the 470ml ones for storing individual meals as I cook large amounts when I do cook casseroles, stews, soups etc. Store them in freezer and microwave when needed. Totally dish washer and microwave safe as far as I'm concerned

Tupperware move over

published

My first set came as a gift when buying a portable fridge for the car.I Agree with all the other good qualities already mentioned plus they keep ants out! We have been traveling in a caravan for 6 years and ants are a nightmare. They are also designed to stack perfectly in caravan fridges. At first I thought the really small containers were a waste however I use them all the time, great to store left over tomato paste etc in.They are the only containers I use now.

Great Quality, Great Look, Great Product

published

Lock & Locks are air tight and they don't leak. They are also quite affordable and last a long time; I've had mine for over 3 years. They are also freezer & microwave friendly which makes it so convenient. Definitely worth a try!!

Getting replacement lids when they break is a prolonged and painful experience.

published

The lock and lock is indeed water tight and this is a big bonus. As I have arthritis, the lids are easy to open when they are new, but it steadily gets a lot harder as the plastic become brittle and warped, over time. and their warrenty / replacement lids are an epic effort: I have waited 6 weeks for a lid replacement, with the lock and lock representative trying to avoid replacing the product and not standing behind their product.

Don't live up to the hype, Inferior quality better off paying more for a better quality

published

Within one week of receiving some containers. The walls of those that had been placed in dishwasher had warped and lids no longer fitted. The containers stain if you put anything like a spaghetti sauce or curry in them. One accidentley knocked off counter, shattered when hitting the floor ( and it hadn't been in freezer).

Don't waste your money, you pay cheap you get cheap.

Poor quality, false advertising, inferior product

Cheap, efficient and high quality

Great, I have one of these, it doesnt leak from the lid when I hold soups in it or oil for that matter.
I like how companies are producing high quality items at low prices these days, makes consumers like us much more happier.
I have a 26c piece at home and it pretty much stores everything.
No leaks, cheap

Perfect!

I bought the 33pc set after doing a check on other sites as well as the L&L site, to see who had the best deal. Threw out all my other mishmash containers, even the tupperware from years ago and now I have a 'brand new' pantry! Easy to see what is in each container. I have my own labeling machine so that was a big help too. Used up the whole set and still need some more to finish off a few bits and pieces. Will be recommending this to all my friends.
Easy to see contents, looks good on the shelf.
Haven't been able to fault it.

Excellent Pantry Storage

published

I love my Lock & Lock containers. I use them all the time in addition to my Tupperware ones. They are 100% watertight so I marinate in them and can turn them over without any leakage. They are fantastic for camping as esky water doesn't seep into them spoiling food. Kids can open them as well.

They have good deals on the shopping channels and you can also get them on sale on DJ's and Myers. Well worth every cent.
Air Tight, water tight, easy to use, long lasting.

Lock & Lock containers are great for caravan cabinet.

published

We bought 26pcs mega value set of Lock & Lock from Food Storage Solutions website for our caravan. They are perfect for caravan! Because they don't spill things and save lots of spaces in our caravan. Highly recommend for caravan and camping people!!
Absolutely airtight and watertight as they are described to be. Great for caravan cabinet.
Even if they are BPA free, still they are plastic. Some of my old containers have changed colours.

Excellent

This product is not as expensive as some pantry storage. Is airtight unlike cheaper brands and although may be expensive at full price, you can always buy at 30% off or buy one get one free at the major stores or discounted online.
Highly recommend.
Fantastic pantry use. Air tight. Stack well. Able to see inside. Easy for anyone to open and close. I spent weeks researching which product was going to be best for redesigning my pantry and this product came up with a gold star. Have been using for 6 months now and extremely happy.
None - great overall

Better than tupperware

published

This stuff is awesome. And I would rate better (or at least as good as) tupperware - at a fraction of the price. Carrots in the fridge stay crunchy for weeks with these containers. Highly recommend them.
Keeps things fresh for weeks.

Absolutely perfect!

published

I got several of these as a bridal shower gift. I've recently expanded my collection and tossed out all my cheap inferior tubs. Cannot get enough of these! Perfect for all over the house.

If you get them on special (try shopnaturally.com.au) it's well worth keeping an eye out. They're microwave safe but I tend not to microwave them, especially when it's a tomato based food.
Well made, long lasting, worth the inital outlay of $
Can be a bit expensive, but keep an eye out for them on sale.

I have two lock and lock egg containers. Recently however on storing my eggs are giving off an odour which smells like a bad egg even though I have purchased new batch. Is it something to do with the eggs sending off a gas or is this normal. I have never had this product until recently. The holders are about 3 years old. Thank you for any information. Kerry

Check your eggs. I had a bad egg in a 'new' batch. Float all your eggs in a glass of water - if they sink/are flat they are fresh, if they are upright they are getting older and floating is OFF.

mallymuff
mallymuff

The tried and true method of checking if eggs are fresh is like Jess above said, I use this myself so can only suggest you do an experiment on the eggs. For what it's worth I leave eggs in the egg carton I buy them in and store in fridge, which works well. The L&L plastic seems very air tight, maybe the eggs don't like that, just a thought but good luck.

Thank you so much for the responses. Yes I do check my egg freshness using the above methods. Perhaps the don't like the airtight containers. I will continue to experiment.
