Miss these so much!!
Where are these gone. After months I am still checking the shelf at IGA to see if they are in stock. Having gluten free children in the house we used them all the time. Quick, easy, nutritious and yum!
Purchased in January 2021.

Need my daily g/f porridge
I use these to make my own gluten free porridge as It's way too expensive to purchase the ready made box.
I add dried fruits, quinoa flakes, chia seeds. So yummy!!
Edited: Totally shattered that Lowan's don't make these anymore, it seems like they don't care about Coeliac's or Gluten Intolerants. Breakfast is not the same anymore....
Purchased in May 2021 at Woolworths for A$3.69.

Bring em back
Been consuming Lowan rice flakes forever. I have allergies so am limited with breakfast food. Apparently they process them with other products & someone complained, as a result it's not cost effective to process separately. Come on Lowan find a way. A lot of people are missing this fabulous product.

Lowan Rice Flakes
Very upset that Lowan Rice Flakes is no longer available. This was very good for my stomach. Oats is the only other breakfast food i can tolerate and I'm getting sick of the same thing each day. Please bring back rice flakes.
Purchased for A$4.00.

Love this. Nothing else like it
I use this daily. They were recalled in June or July and have not come back yet. Don't know why. Hopefully they will be back really soon. My breakfast is just not the same : (

Where has all the Lowan gone? Lowan Rice Cereal is unobtainable lately.
Has Lowan ceased production? Their rice cereal was ideal as a gluten free product. What rice product can replace it?
Purchased in December 2021 at Woolworths Physical store.

Best breakfast ever.
My morning bowl of lowan rice flakes porridge stays with me till lunchtime. I don't seek snacks at all. I start with 1/3 cup dry flakes and 1 cup water, simmer for 4 mins. Sultanas thrown into the saucepan, and milk for last couple of minutes, poured over a few linseeds, pepitas and sunflower seeds and I've the best breakfast ever.

Doesn't look promising... but cooks up divine!
After a coeliac diagnoses I was shattered with the loss of my porridge for breakfast. I bought a pack of this and put off using it for ages because it looked so dry, pale and.. untasty. But I was very wrong... I cooked it with water and a bit of salt, then stirred in soy milk, banana, cinnamon and and a touch of maple syrup on top. The texture is really divine.. and it has that warm 'filling' quality that makes porridge so good, yet is also gentle on the tummy. I was surprised that it is brown rice and not white because it's so light and 'white...Read more
' looking, and doesn't have that earthy taste that brown rice can have. Compared to the insane cost of gluten free cereals... this plain looking, unfussy package of rice flakes is a winner by a long way. It is definitely down to what you do with it too - don't be afraid to fancy it up with fruit, sugar, milk, seeds or whatever else you like. It's easy to make a few serves at the start of the week to keep in the fridge and microwave a portion in the morning (with a little milk to soften), to save time before work.Similar opinion? Perfect breakfast meal
My daughter introduced this to me on my trip back to Brisbane. She microwaves 1/2 cup with water to soften & heat then adds chopped strawberries & a dollop of honey. I was intreged as I follow the Fodmap diet..I soaked mine overnight in lactose free milk then heated in the mircrowave. It's suprisingly sweet enough without adding more & with fruit it was perfect. Love this product!

Great Morning starter
I love RICE and found the Lowan Rice Flakes in the supermarket healthy isle! This brown rice cereal without the taste of brown rice, is Delicious. Teamed with Liddels plain yogurt, two strawberries chopped up and cooked to Lowan's directions, yummy. And yes I was looking for a Gluten Free breakfast product, what a score:-)

Simply the best breakfast cereal I've had, and I've tried manYYYY YYYY yyy
I wasn't born yesterday :-) - so I have eaten a lot of cereals in my time. Thing is I now have Type 2 diabetes and having a low GI breakfast that's superbly tasty AND good for you makes this Lowan Rice Flake cereal doubly good. I put a large dollop (probably around 3/4 cup - I don't measure any more) into a very large bowl, and add about 30% more water than cereal (I just guess and to be honest you'll soon see if that's right) stir it up with a spoon, and put it in the microwave for two minutes. Take it out, give it a stir, and if it's too thi...Read more
ck, add a little water. Stick it back in the microwave for another two minutes, but watch it when it gets to one minute because you don't want it to overboil and mess up your microwave. If it starts to overboil, or when it gets to the second two minutes, remove it from the microwave. Naughty me puts a dollop of butter into the bottom of it (cover it up with the hot porridge), sprinkle with Natvia or Stevia or any GOOD sugar substitute, wait for one minute, add milk (I also use lactose free milk) slowly to the sides until the milk is maybe 2.5 cm [1 inch] think, then move to a nice part of the table, sit down, and tuck in. I find the taste and the texture simply awesome. My friends have it with honey. Another has it without anything to sweeten it. I couldn't - that's half the fun. But that texture is simply mouth watering, and when the butter floats up :-) yummmooooooooooooo :-)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Best breakfast cereal when you can't have gluten and anyone would enjoy it
I now have this product as porridge nearly every morning. Adding a little LSA and brown sugar and a small amount of lactose free milk. I start early and am not hungry till nearly lunch so really good for my diet requirements. Being brown rice it's so much better in nutrition and fibre.
Easy to make no fuss

Hi everyone, does anyone have the recipe for the baked rice porridge in the oven, it was rice flakes, milk, brown sugar & vanilla essence - I just recall ratios & time in oven.

Did you use Lowans' Rice Flakes as they're not available anymore. Woolies now has a substitute in Forbidden Foods Gluten Free Rice Flakes. More expensive (300gm pkt for $5) and I have found that you need almost double the amount to get the same quantity as when I used Lowans' and it leaves a bad aftertaste so I'm adding cinnamon and honey to my porridge now.
Yes I used lowans in the past. I’ve purchased forbidden & was planning on using that as a substitute- I note the price difference. Have you made the baked in oven recipe ?
Hi you can use rice flakes or regular rice.
In a dish place half cup rice, 1cup milk, 2 tspoons sugar, pinch salt, half tsp vanilla essence.
Mix tog then top with a tiny bit of butter which will form a nice brown skin if cooked in the oven.
Enjoy

I live on central coast where can I buy Lowans rice flakes

Hi Elaine, as I'm aware, unfortunately Lowan Rice Flakes are no longer available anywhere due to gluten contamination. To remedy this they would need to process in separate machinery which is not cost effective. I have been purchasing Rice flakes from Affordable Whole foods, a bit more pricey but they are the same as the Lowan brand. Best of luck
Thanks for the feedback. I live near Caboolture, Qld and wondering if you know whether Affordable Whole Foods distribute stock to supermarkets in Qld?
According to their website they ship to your location Grant but like Bibbi mentioned the cost is rather high. For a kg of rice flakes including shipping it's just under $20. Maybe speak to managers of your local Woolies and Coles to see if it's possible for them to stock this product. I'm sure they're well aware that Lowan's no longer supply them.
