Great Experience
A work colleague recommended Mate to me, I'm glad I signed up with them. Brilliant service, kept me up to date through the process and after the NBN tech came, everything worked. Had a issue with NBN co but they sorted all that out for me.

Great ISP! Never a single drama
Great ISP with excellent customer service. Speed has always been maintained to a good standard. Recently decided to go elsewhere to try and save $10 a month. This was a mistake. I went with Tangerine Telecom and within 2 weeks I had cancelled my plan and gone back to Mate. They had no problem quickly reconnecting me.

Consistent, reliable connection with good support.
Moved house and changed to Mate around 8 weeks ago. I had connectivity issues at the beginning and was given fantastic assistance. Issue ended up being a faulty new router, not the connection. We have had no dropouts or connectivity issues despite being outside of suburbia. Very happy with the speed and service.

Amazingly fast and great customer service

Good price, good service
Been on the soul mates plan for about a year, across two houses. Never experienced any dropouts or connection issues. Getting between 85mb/s and 95mb/s depending on the time of day, which is better than I got with Telstra. They were easy to talk to when I moved houses and needed the internet to follow me, and even moved my remaining balance across. Legends

Not a good experience
We switched from Mate ADSL to Mate via NBN. The switch over was far from smooth. First try to link up to the NBN ended in us having to get a technician out to make the modem and router actually attach to the NBN. Then our home phone was disconnected. We were told it would be a couple of days before it would be working. After a week we contacted Mate to be told Telstra had cut us off rather than "port" our home number. Mate then offered to redirect calls to our home number to our mobile, but failed to tell us that we would be charged for every c...Read more
all redirected. After another 3 weeks we finally got our home number working again, but then got a bill for redirected calls totalling $72. Mate agreed to waive that amount but told us we were going to be billed $38 for setting up the redirection!!! Not impressed with Mate at this time! At least our internet speed is apparently better than before. I say apparently because we have not noticed any speed improvement with NBN, but a speed test says it is considerably faster???1 comment

Really Good Service All-Round!
They got an NBN tech here in record time for my first sign-up.
Is really easy to deal with as its not an offshore call centre. Friendly staff, Ow and have I mentioned, at such a good price.
I was with them before for a year, unfortunately my new place didn't have NBN yet and couldn't stick with them. As soon as NBN came available I switched! and after I saw how horrible 3 other ISP's are, they were really missed.

Reliable connection and great internet speed
Despite a few issues when changing from ADSL to NBN when I realised it was already available at my address, once I got to use the NBN I found a very reliable connection with more than decent internet speeds, not having experienced any significant dropout to date.
Even when I had some issues when changing to NBN, the people at the contact centre were always polite and keen to provide assistance and follow up on the case.

Competent onshore service
Once NBN connection issues were resolved the service has been excellent. Mate were also good at getting the incompetent NBN process to actually work. My previous provider service desk only added to the frustration.

Excellent stability and fuss free installation
I have been able to achieve 46Mbps easily during peak hours via a good wireless connection in the same room as the modem/router. I'm sure the cabled connection would be even faster.
There have been zero drop outs and the installation was easy, quick and fuss free (though this could've been laregly due to the fact that the cable in my building was already on the roof and my unit is on the top floor).
No lock in contracts and competitive pricing plus an on shore contact centre of staff that listens and doesn't sound like you're talking to a robot that simply repeats the enquiry back at you. Brilliant service, would recommend highly to anyone.

Great customer service, fast and efficient
We wanted to support the Australian economy and found a boutique telecoms company that is Australian owned. We use NBN and also mobile service. The assistance is prompt and very helpful. Had hardly any problems with the actual NBN service. We are in a black spot in terms of our residence (not much we can do except move house) but the signal is much better than a rival competitor that we used to be a customer of.

Great product, happy with it
Payment being restricted to just debit/credit card is crazy, it completely behind the times. I am look at changing provider simply because this is not suitable and I should have options on how to pay. A huge inconvenience.

Our payment terms are clearly advised on sign-up - we are unsure why you chose to sign-up with MATE if this didn't suit you. As we have no contracts and no cancellation fees, you are free to move to a provider with a payment option that better suits your needs. Great service
The NBN connection has been faultless, no dropouts to date. Only issue was getting the NBN serviceman here, very tedious, but they were helpful as well, when they finally got here.

I will be moving into a brand new building with no ADSL or NBN available. I would like to know about a wireless connection - am looking at the best mates fixed wireless? what does this mean? I have a modem, was presuming that all I would need is a sim card?

At 7pm on the eve of me changing over to MATE, I thought I'd give MATE a call to see if there was anything I should know prior to my changeover. Well, the person I spoke to was annoying. He insisted on speaking over me all the time, and kept reciting over and over that because I was changing over on the 24th, [which is TODAY] there was nothing he would add. All I wanted to know was how will I be notified of my new log in and password and how long would I be without a connection, as it has been mentioned to me that sometimes it could be done within an hour. He almost accused me of lying, and that it could take up to three business days, and that he would review the tapes. He kept talking to me like I was some idiot. I was not amused, and almost threw in the towel there and then. His arrogance was astounding. You could do better hiring more pleasant people to handle your calls. I hope this wasn't a sign of things to come? Have I made a dreadful mistake, as I see others have had a difficult time with your service. Should I have gone to someone else? [639347]

Hey buddy, that sucks, the people I have spoken to have always been great. I can suggest emailing them, they answer really quick and there shouldn’t be communication errors that way.
