Just as good as the BIG Guy
After being a Telstra (the BIG Guy) mobile SIM only customer for years, I thought it was time to look around for an improved monthly plan. MATE offered what I was looking for from Telstra, for half the price. Considering MATE uses a large chunk of the Telstra mobile network, and looking at coverage maps for where I travel, I could see that MATE had me covered. A real win-win. A recent trip along the south coast of NSW confirmed that mobile coverage and reliability is top notch. Very happy.

Pretty poor in value compared to other providers, data they offer is no more less for the price, and the data reception in areas is sketchy at best. And I live in a well developed area that is close to the CBD and competition have no issues.

If you believe our mobile plans provide poor value, is there a reason that you signed up? In regards to reception issues, have you contacted our support team to report any issues? Please keep in mind that network coverage and reception will always vary due to factors such as the mobile handset you are using, location, distance from the closest network tower, local terrain, user numbers, hardware and software configuration, download source/upload destination and network management measures. MATE uses part of the Telstra Mobile Network that covers more than 98.8% of the population with 3G and 97% of the population with 4G and we are confident our customers will have a great experience. Yes I have checked the network coverage and I am in an area that should have been fine. And yes tech support were adequate but not much they can do if I seem to be in a "blindspot" granted if I walk 2km down the road it gets a little better. Given the experience of using your service for mobile it would be silly to think that combining to an internet plan would provide better value as speed of data is obviously important. We have no record of you contacting our support team, can you advise when you spoke to them, was this over the phone or via email? In regards to being poor in value, even as a standalone mobile product, our mobile plans are among the cheapest postpaid plans on the market that use the Telstra network. From the notes on this account, we can see that you requested for us to send your SIM cards out via Express Post as they have not arrived yet. However, the SIM cards were only sent out by Registered Post on Tuesday 3rd March. The standard timeframe for delivery is 2 - 5 business days - today is the 4th business day since the SIM was sent. There is no issue with the delivery timeframe of this order. For registered post deliveries, Australia Post do not update the whereabouts of the parcel at every stage of the delivery. The most recent update according to the tracking is that the parcel is on its way and this is still within the delivery timeframes that were provided to you upon sign up. Despite the above delivery being well within timeframes, our support team also provided the alternative option of paying $10.00 for express post shipping, however, you declined this offer. The team also confirmed that "if" the SIM cards are deemed to be lost then we will happily send them out again via Express Post at no cost to you. However, we need to wait for the standard, registered post delivery timeframe of up to 5 business days to elapse before doing so. You weren't happy with these options, however, we are unsure what resolution you are expecting, given there is no issue at all with the delivery at the current point in time and the parcel is likely to arrive within the next 2 business days. So good I had to make my first review!
It sucks I can't be with MATE right now. I went through the whole life-cycle with them; moving from Telstra, setup problems (my end, though they still helped) moving house, line problems at new address, adding a SIM, removing internet and keeping the SIM and finally ending my SIM plan and entire relationship with MATE. There was no hesitation of help with these guys. Even if it was outside call centre hours, i'd drop them an email and some one would get back to me ASAP.
Now, to have all that excellent service, on top of the best rate? It's hard to say no. I talked probably 4 of my friends into signing up. When my living arrangements change, I'll be signing back up with MATE no questions asked.

Excellent product. You are on the Telstra network so you have great coverage at such a cheap price. I think you have to have their home internet to be able to get the phone service though.
