Failed to live up to expectations
Our Maxim four slice toaster lasted a few years. The pair of slots closest to the controls failed at about 18 months. That was OK, we mainly used it as a 2 slice toaster anyway. The problem was that the toast was cooked unevenly so I would turn it four or five times to get even browning, especially with my own larger bread-maker product. All that heat would dry the bread out which made it rather crunchy. The remaining pair of slots failed recently, tripping the RCD for that circuit in the process. the bread while leaving it soft on the inside. That will be the subject of a separate review. It wasn't until I tried a new toaster that I realised just how long the Maxim took to brown bread. If you can live without a four slice toaster, a two slice is much smaller and obviously takes up less room. As we have a small kitchen, the freed up space is noticeable. I wouldn't recommend the Maxim although it has to be recognised that it's a budget unit and you get what you pay for.
