Very Ordinary Pool Cleaner
Very disappointed in this piece of equipment, it may pick up leaves and nuts from trees...sometimes, but will not pick up any dirt that accumulates on the pool bottom. However the worst part about it is that it just goes over the same sections of the pool all the time. We have a 9 x 3m oval above ground pool and this machine just won't go near the rounded ends. We previously had a Barracuda but got frustrated with it because leaves and nuts used to jam the diaphragm meaning stopping it to remove the blockage, a small price to pay for a clean pool I now realise. Gave it the benefit of the doubt for way too long...unfortunately the SWASH was an expensive waste of money.
Purchased in December 2021 for A$850.00.

Good, but could be better.
Review after 2 months from purchase. Easy to set up and use. Captures leaves and loose matter from the pool floor, but does not effectively scrub fine matter which requires a pre-brush to dislodge. Accordingly, I will usually set it to run twice to clean the pool (about 60kL) in about 3-4 hours. Caddy to transport the unit for storage works well. Reasonably happy so far.
Purchased in October 2021.

Works perfect except no swivel always tangling
Can I purchase aftermarket swivel and install. I have tried straightening anti twisting leaving in sun but till tangles daily.only 1 month old and I thought was expensive but the best. I should of made sure it had a swivel when I bought it.
It works great apart from tangling
Purchased in September 2021 at Poolwerx for A$2,000.00.

Ok cleaner, but just died
Has just died after 4+ years. Not impressed. Multimeter tested the output side of the transformer. Still getting 29v at the outlet and also at the end of the cable. Therefore the motor has died. This shouldn’t happen after this short a time. There was no blockages and the cleaner was always cleaned out regularly. It isn’t a cheap cleaner and I expected more from this brand. Maytronics have been in touch, but won’t do anything because of the age. I understand it’s out of warranty but it only got used once a week for the duration of my ownership and then only during the swimming season. I estimate that it wouldn’t have done more than 300 hours of running and that’s being conservative. I won’t be buying another.

Did not last
The machine worked hard but after two years the handle broke in two completely (I fixed it myself), then after two more years the motor and the cable packed in. These are very expensive devices and if they cannot provide reliability and durability for that price then I am not going to purchase this brand again. Disappointed.

Worked well but died after 4 years - not repairable
I loved my CL Swash - did a great job but after just 4 years the DC side failed and the local repairer says it is too expensive to repair and buy a new one! I am also totally confused about model numbers??? M5, M500, M5 supreme, M series, S Series and X Series. Which is the latest range models. I don't want to buy last years model from old stock dealers.
Never say never! Despite the local pool dealer saying they have tested the machine and it is beyond repair I get my multimeter onto it. High resistance in the blue DC output lead some...Read more

Great Product an Service
We had the robot for more than two years and it served our pool devoted. Recently we had a breakdown with the robot but unfortunately was out of warranty. Nevertheless, when Maytronics was contacted for help they committed to cover the repairs under warranty free of charge so I can get my robot back into the pool.

If only I’d bought this years ago!!
Eventually decided, after years of fighting with useless pool cleaner after pool cleaner, to spend a large amount of money to buy this cleaner! My pool had a layer of grime and leaves on the bottom and heaps of leaves floating on top! No kidding, within 25 mins, the pool bottom was close to perfect and all the floating leaves were floating into the skimmer box, which is now free of tubing attached to creepy crawlers that get stuck in one spot, leaving it open to do its actual job!
Often after a heavy downpour, my water would go cloudy and I’d ...Read more

I did a bit of research on the best robotic cleaner and still could not decide as there was not much info out there. I ended up just going into local shop and this was on special. It cost $1400 and more than I wanted to spend on a cleaner. I realized it was worth it after first use.
This has a twin motor and works so well. I haven't been able to fault it.

The worst pool cleaner you will buy.
Purchased cleaner in 2017. Started working ok but a few month later it wasnt cleaning thoroughly. Spoke to dolphin/maytronics technician and they advised to check pool pH and chemical which we did over a period of time but still wasn't cleaning well but we preservered thinking that this is best the machine can produce. The machine kept isolating in one area and would not clean the rest of the pool. Some 6 months later the cleaner started tripping from our electricity switchboard. We took it back to dolphin. Maytronics advised that there was wat...Read more
er in the controller. Since the controller sits externally in the weather it is supposed to be waterproof so they didn't know why this was failing and the manager began stipulating that machine must have been submerged which is clearly not the case. The manager at maytronics would not honour the repair under warranty and insisted that water had somehow gotten in to the controller but they didn't know how. We are no experts in these machines but you would think that if the controller was not watertight then maybe it wasnt built correcltly as these things can often happen. We just want the thing to work. The technician advised that they have similar machines to ours that sit outside for years with no problem. So clearly there was a problem with ours and it wasnt out of neglect by us but rather in our opinion the poor buuldability of the machine. The manager from maytronics was very rude, arrogant and couldn't care less about us writing a bad review of the company and their product. He showed no care or sympathy in our agonising experience and just simply wasnt interested in honouring their obligations to their customers. We also have spoken to two local pool shops and they advised that maytronics is quite terrible in customer service very slow in repairs and there machines are overall too pricey and not reliable and if you have a warranty issue then Good Luck. So we will be looking at seeking fair trading or tribunal and we paid a fortune for this cleaner and we are sick of being bullied and treated like we are the bad people. I urge all BUYERS to be aware and rethink in purchasing any machines from Maytronics because with our experiences if there is a problem they will try to get out warranty repairs and they couldn't care less about the customer or assisting. Their are much better systmes out there for a cheaper price.. This was also advised to us by others. Very disappointing and disgusting to treated this way by an Australian company.3 comments

There are IP ratings that you Power supply needs to acheove and we feel your system has failed this criteria. This is what the machine is designed to do. Can you please provide evidence in your warranty which shows that the machine is not covered by warranty when placed outside. Obviously the weather proofing of the power supply was poor and MORE SERIOISLY THE FAULTY POWER SUPPLY WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR OUR HEALTH AND SAFETY. My Family ran the risk of being electrocuted due to your faulty product and this is a serious issue. If you think that you guys can provide a product that is unsafe for the user then I believe we will be notifying fair trading on this dangerous issue. Also please advise why this item is not under warranty particularly with ACL rules and regulations. Obviously it appeas you still have no intention to honour your defective product even though it's within the warranty period and please be on notice that we will be pursing further action against your company. Finally the system took a while to be looked at and the system was returned to the wrong pool shop who logged the warranty in the first place. So please don't lie about your service as it takes a long time and then you send it to the wrong pool shop. Wow and you pride yourself on this service.Maytronics A.Maytronics

te a long term review of this product as a lot of the reviews I read on here just seem to be complaints with no valid justification or hint at lack of operator experience/pool knowledge. Pool situation. Elevation 75m, North facing directly above Sydney's middle harbour e.g. high salt area, prevailing NE wind which can be very strong with sea breeze and storms. Pool built in the 80's, painted concrete (needs a total makeover), freshwater with chlorine (I have an auto-dosing chlorinator, so PH and chlorine PPM stays pretty constant). Some areas of pool generally the south facing sides at the deep end gather some algae growth if not cleaned for a while. Pool is BIG, approximately 5m width by 15m length, deep end is 2.1m and shallow end approx. 1m. Pool is rectangular with curved edges at wall to base and curved corners, volume is over 90,000 L. I have 2 sets of tiled steps, one at each end, the shallow end has 3 steps, the deep end has one step. Waterline is tiled with pebblecrete above. Pool is in a bush fire zone, i.e. surrounded by native trees. Also on the property is 1 large gum (30m) directly above pool to the East, another eucalyptus to the West within 3 m, and a couple of Jacaranda's within 3m of the pool. There is also a palm type thing at the northern end of the pool which has long leaves, approx. 3cm wide by 50cm long. Debris in the pool is huge and constant, winter and summer. This includes but not limited to; large gum nuts, massive amounts of gum tree pollen, branches (big and small), bark from the paper bark tree, gum leaves of all shapes and sizes, Jacaranda flowers, Jacaranda pollen, dirt and grit wind blown from surround garden, I could go on.....Similar opinion? Great when it works but doesn't last long
We bought ours a couple of years ago and in the past few weeks it stops 5 minutes into it's automatic cycle. Blue power like flashes on the base unit and the impeller stops working. Would have expected a few more years out of such an expensive product. Not happy!

Scared of deep end!
Excellent pool cleaner if you want only the middle of your pool cleaned. It would seem that it is scared of the deep end. I have footage of the robot heading towards the deep end, then getting scared and running back to the shallow end! Seems to spend 95% of its time going back and forth across the middle of the pool, just like a scared four-year-old! Not worth the cost, would have probably been happy if I'd paid about $200.

We have a dolphin cleaner and for the last 3 years it has been working well. We do not get a lot of leaves or mess in our pool so we only use it once a fortnight. Recently it stopped working. We took it to a maytronics dealer and spoke to a maytronics representative. Neither of them could tell me what was wrong except that it needed a whole new motor. The motor has cost us nearly half of the original cost. These cleaners are not cheap, however I would expect them to last more than 3 years. I realise that we may have got a cleaner that may have just stopped working and that most others are still working, however maytronics have done nothing to help our situation. I should include that we regularly cleaned the dolphin cleaner and it is kept inside after each use.5 comments

The replacement motor should also not equate to more than 15 % of the cost of a new machine, this is the biggest investment you would make on a spare part for your Dolphin. n the product no questions asked inside the warranty period. Our high end machines come with a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty, this is the best in industry for robotic pool cleaners. Just this week we have received feedback from a customer who has had a Dolphin working in their pool since 1988 and this is the first time they needed servicing on their cable - the motor is still going strong. Motor failure is a very rare occurrence to be honest - we depend on our motor reliability to feed data to our analyser technology to help diagnose usage and performance history. The data that would be retrieved is stored in the motor.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
great product
I have had my cleaner for two years now, purchased in the package with the new pool installation. Very happy with it. are they perfect no, do they clean every part of the pool not quite. It will not get into the tight corners of the steps. This thing is easy just drop in, turn on come back in 2-3 hours take out of pool and wash out the filter bag.
That's the bit you have to do yourself, bit like you still have to unpack the dishwasher :)
I may add that my pool is a rectangular in shape therefore has lots of flat surfaces, this may aid is effectiveness ?
The cons, cleaning the bag and the cost of the bags at around $60 each. My Filter bag has lasted two years

A heap of rubbish
My pool builder supplied me with a Maytronics Swash. It is complete rubbish. It would only run for 10 minutes to 30 minutes maximum before stopping. Sometimes it would not work at all. Worst of all, Maytronics don't do service calls. I had to organise for my local pool shop to pick up and bring it to the Maytronics workshop. That's very poor service from Maytronics.

Seems to work, but only tracks along one side of the pool. This is a brand new cleaner. I would not purchase another dolphin cleaner. It just runs from shallow end to deep end along the wall the entire cycle. More efficent to manually clean the pool, at this stage i wish I had saved my hard earned coin.

After paying a pool business to service my pool for several years and eventually getting annoyed with their variable service level and my pool not always looking perfect and 'ready to swim' (despite the service/chemicals costing $60-$150 per fortnight - ouch!!),, I finally decided to give the pool service the sack and invest in a Dolphin Swash instead. Is there 10 stars?
We purchased our Swash two years ago and it hasn't missed a beat. The pool always looks spotless after having the cleaner do its thing and its so easy to use. We purchased a second bag and rotate them between uses. We get a lot of leaves in our pool, and this cleaner does the job effortlessly. We have not had to replace a single part on it in the two years we have had it, unlike our old Barracuda which needed something replaced every six months. Well worth the money and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a reliable pool cleaner.
Low maintenance, easy to use, light and reasonably priced.

Hi Maytronics, I have a dolphin swash, I turn it on and it runs for 5 seconds and then cuts out. What could be the issue? It does need a new impeller.
3 answers
Maytronics A.Maytronics
Hi Rich. If your Dolphin Swash is in need of a new impeller, it may be the cause as to why it is not functioning correctly. If an impeller is broken or has debris wrapped around it, this may also contribute to a robot not being able to begin or complete a full cycle. We recommend to replace the impeller and then run the robot to see if the issue continues to occur. Please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Care Team via email to [email protected] or on 1300 693 657 option 2 for any further assistance.
Thanks, I have replaced the impeller which fixed that problem but now the machine just goes back and forth and doesn't navigate anywhere else.
Maytronics A.Maytronics
Hi Rich. When a robot moves only forward and backward, we recommend to check for any obstructions within the drive tracks and the impeller to ensure that these areas are clear. Should these areas be free from any obstructions, we do recommend the robot be assessed. Please contact our Customer Care Team via email to [email protected] or on 1300 693 657 option 2 for assistance in locating the closest dealer that is able to assist in the robot's assessment.

I had it on its side on the ground while cleaning it out with hose and my Pomeranian knocked it on its side(Not hard as she is small but I honestly don't know if it was on the side with the cord or not) and seems odd that it stopped working right afterwards?. After that well, the lights are all on but no go, poor thing just sits in the pool. Doesn't blow bubbles and doesn't move an inch. Do I need to replace the blue cord with the float? Where do I get a diy replacement? My in ground pool is 20x40. I love this cleaner and really want it to work again pls. Thank you. Tracy & Judd

Going to purchase upgrade tomorrow. Was hoping for a quick response. Think i will try one that lasts longer than 5 yrs and doesn't stop working when tipped on its side.
The blue lead can be changed and it is fairly straight forward. The leads vary ensure you order the right one. But before you change the lead check the output of the transformer (24v DC). If that is ok then check the swivel joint is in good order. This is where mine failed). Then you need to check the DC supply at the plug that goes into the machine. Most have a plug that is sealed against water. A simple volt meter check should check the machine has power. If there is power then it’s not the lead. The machine failing could be the in the sealed drive and circuit board. That would be expensive. The lead cost $400! It can be ordered directly from Maytronics.

in a robot’s performance and its ability to gain traction. It is recommended to have the water tested regularly to ensure chemistry levels and pH levels are within their documented ranges. Should chemistry levels be outside of their ideal ranges, the surface may become slippery. Following a full water test and the pool balanced, where required, a manual brush down of the surfaces to ensure any slipperiness has been attended to will allow the robot to then be able to maintain these areas on its own. Algae is also a sign of water chemistry requiring attention. As algae is slippery, robots may be unable to gain traction, as advised above. The filter type also plays a role in the way that the robot filters debris. The ultra-fine filters look like small folds, or a cartridge, and are best suited to filter smaller particles, such as dust. The spring net filters look like a mesh-type of filter and are suitable for larger debris types.
