Classy, Reliable Car
Car has done 105,000 k's and have not had any problems with it. Set of brake pads (front and rear) at 90,000 and everything else has been scheduled maintenance. Good controls, voice recognition works really well, bluetooth streaming the same. Has the best climate air I have ever owned, significantly better than my previous Honda and Subaru.
Fuel sits on 9.5 l/100k's with a mix of city and a little bit of higher speed running. Nice steering, ride and handling (for a family car)
Would recommend a Mazda 6 to anyone looking for reliable mid sized car.

Diesel has a defective timing chain
Our Mazda 6 2009 luxury sports diesel had a recall in Europe for a defective timing chain. Australia did not, its case by case with Mazda. Just wished we could have had the option to replace the timing chain, that was maybe a $2000 fix, then to lose a car that cost $46,000, religiously serviced with only 146,000k's, was heart breaking. Mazda Australia wanted no part of it. We were not given the option to even fix it because we were unaware the timing chain was rubbish. Any one with a Mazda 6 MZR diesel, please google problems with them. If it saves one person our heart ache then I'll be happy. We sold it for $1500, and has since been fixed, so I know for certainty the timing chain was the problem.

Poorly Made
We have owned our Mazda 6 luxury sport for 3 years and have had nothing but problems from a major engine recall to start that Mazda took weeks to fix.I would recommend anyone that drives a Mazda to check paint on roof on car as soon as there is one paint chip it starts to cob web and like ours over time will start rusting away we tried to get this fixed under new car warranty but executive from Mazda couldn't have cared less.At normal highway speed there is horrible road noise stick your head under side of car insulation is like supermarket car...Read more
dboard,on the latest trip we found engine to be gutless with most other cars zooming past because of a gear box that has mind of its own .We have just encountered last problem and that is dashboard melts in the heat nice stay well clear of Mazda you would be better in a pensioners Camry than one of these.Similar opinion? i think Mazdas are the best small cars on the road. They are safe and easy to control. i wouldn't bu
Mazda takes care of comfort, they are easy to manoeuvre and light enough for a women to feel comfortable driving them. I have always been happy with the space and legroom in the interior of the car. Every Mazda I have had has been reliable in difficult weather and terrain. They are very competitive with their running costs. Especially on cruise control.

Excellent allrounder, a car that keeps you smiling
The car has great performance with excellent handling. The gearbox shifts smoothly and the clutch is light in its operation. The interior has a quality feel with everything falling easily to hand. The quality of the radio and other controls together with the ease of operation is equated to cars costing twice as much. Well done, it is a car that continually puts a smile on your face. As a used or new car I would recommend it.

Excellent car with no issues
This is easily the best car I ever owned. Never had any issues and serviced it semi regularly. One thing I noticed was it is real quiet from the inside. Driving on the highway I never heard outside sounds. Might sound bizarre but I found driving real peaceful. Highly recommend.

Nice classy sedan
Purchased new in 2011 I did over 110,000 kms in my Mazda 6 luxury sedan. Just loved the way this car drove, it was such a great drive. The inside was big enough for 4 adults and everything had a really nice Mazda quality about it. This was my 4th Mazda (3 x Mazda 3's previously)! 4 years on it was time for this car to go, it developed a strange knocking noise in the front end and it took 4 x dealers, various independent suspension specialists and my persistence to get this noise fixed which turned out to be a simple lubricant issue in the shock...Read more
absorbers which the dealer I used for 10 years should have picked up. Another major downside is the costs of servicing - I have genuine receipts for over $13,000 in Mazda servicing costs - just terrible! I have put the Mazda 6 out of service now, purchased a European SUV- the Mazda is a distant memory and the euro SUV is cheaper to service, how about that.. Mazda need to be worried, Hyundai and Kia have some pretty good products now and I can assure you they will be much cheaper to maintain.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Best Car I've Ever Owned! Would Definitely Recommend
Just a plain awesome car. I bought my 2010 Mazda 6 luxury sports in 2015 with 83,000kms on the clock. Performed like a brand new car, so comfortable, smooth, quiet, and just brilliant! Only down fall is for me it is a little thirsty. Other than that great. If you're thinking about getting one do it! You will not regret the decision.

Great car
I have a 2011 Mazda 6 luxury sports hatchback and I love it very much it's a beautiful car very reliable and comfortable I will say the headroom in the back seat is not good if you are tall it is a problem because you don't have a lot of leg space either and there are no rear air vents but the air conditioning is powerful especially if you have climate control 2 zone like my Mazda does. I will say I had an issue with the front headlight washer nozzle cover I had 2 parts missing and wasn't simple to get them from Mazda because one of the parts ...Read more
isn't even Mazda made it took about 4 weeks until the parts were available and now it seems to be not so easy to install myself so I needed to contact a smash repair who did not help me at all luckily my mechanic helped me with the parts.overall the 2011 Mazda 6 is a very good car it looks good and drives very well I will never go back to Holden I am truly a Mazda fan love that zoom zoom feeling.Similar opinion? A great car!!!
Purchased this car new when in run out in 2012 (one of the last made) First time owning a diesel car and I'm having no regrets. Selected this car over the ford mondeo (had owned an earlier model previously) Hyundai i40 and Holden Commodore sportswagon.
The fact that it came only as a manual didn't faze me and it turned out to be one of the best manual cars I have ever driven! In the three years I have had it I do not regret having selected this car. It handles well (the zoom zoom tagline is appropriate!) well appointed with a good number of to...Read more

Great car to drive, but it's a shame that the air conditioning stopped working
I bought a 2008 Mazda 6 Luxury Sports hatchback which only had 50k on the clock. I thought I hit the jackpot.
I work from home and use the car mostly just on weekends. After less than 12 months the air conditioning just stopped working one day. The car filled with a horrible gas smell for a few days. I took it to the mazda service centre plus several mechanics and all of them told me the compressor needed replacing. That's a $900 part that required upwards of 7 hours labour to install. So I was forced to shell out nearly $2000 to get the pro...Read more
blem fixed. While I love the car and it drives like a dream I will always have a negative view of the quality of Mazda car construction. On the plus side the new part comes with a lifetime warranty. Small consolation when I would still need to shell our for the labour costs in the event that this happens again. One of the mechanics I took it to told me that they are seeing an increasing number of cases like mine. Buyer beware!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

2010 Mazda6 GH Series-2 Manual Hatchback is Brilliant!
In 2014, I purchased a 2010 Mazda6 GH Series-2 Classic - 6 speed Manual Hatchback. (Series 2, 2010-2012)
After years of driving camry's, corolla's, accords, lancers, pulsars, and falcadores; the Mazda6 is a big gulp of fresh clean air.
Performance is brisk, and the car feels light. Take-off with the manual is faster than you expect and the 6 spd gearbox is an absolute delight to use.
The 2.5 engine is beautifully torquey once above 2000rpm all the way through to 5000rpm. It is an undersquare engine, so it gives great response at low rev...Read more

Style and Room!!!
Love this car!!! Solid, stylish and has the extra room we needed! Better than the other wagons on the market... Doesn't feel or look "Company car". Great visibility to allow you to drive safe. 6 stacker CD... Style... Did I mention I love our car? Would recommend it a thousand times over. Very Happy!

Got a 2012 Diesel Wagon - Yes, great power and gets close to 1000 km per tank!! (highway) and 800 (city)... Incredible considering the power! I would highly recommend this care for any prospective buyers - fuel coast have been halved, even though diesel is a bit more exe at the pump.

Very reliable and economical
Bought as a demo model with only 4500 klms. Great car very spacious and reliable has now done 130000 klm. Had a problem with air bag warning light and Mazda service were great. Am currently towing a small caravan 1200kg loaded and averaging 11.5 Litres Per 100 klm. Not a problem nearly as big inside as my old Commodore wagon.
Reliable

Ordinary
Very ugly car to look at and the design makes it look much bigger than it is. It is very small on the inside with tiny seats. Also the steering wheel obscures the speedo for anyone but the shortest driver. I would go for a Holden Sportwagon instead. Sheer luxury compared to the Mazda.
Seat position memory
Looks, cramped inside, uncomfortable seats.

Great Car
I have owned a 2011 model since new and I have had no issues at all. Plenty of pick up for an auto, lovely to drive and economical. Only thing Mazda could improve on is to reduce how often it requires servicing. I love the way the car looks from the back and it has loads of storage in the cabin.

Not a bad car
The Mazda 6 is a pretty good car, it looks good, drives well and is comfortable. But the interior is a bit boring and can be annoying because of the dashboard layout and cheap feel. It's a good car but you're probably better off buying a new Holden Commodore, they are around the same price but are more spacious, drive better and have way more features. But the Mazda is better than a Toyota Aurion.
Drives well, reliable, comfortable
Boring, feels cheap, not many features for the price

Good car, a few things could be better.
This review is for a GH 2008 Mazda 6 Luxury Sports hatchback. I've owned this car about 8 months, purchased used having done a fairly low 34,000kms. RRP was over $40K, I paid $23K. Standard features include full leather interior; 18" wheels, bi-xenon headlamps, sunroof and LED tail lights. Also includes the Bose branded stereo (8 speakers, including centre channel and subwoofer).
The '08 runs on recommended PULP (95 RON). The later GH series (2010-) can run on 91 RON fuel, so this a bit of a negative for me in terms of running costs. ...Read more
The M6 has a very nice interior. Well laid out, comfortable and a nice ambience. Hatch has lots of room, even more with the rear seats folded down, and this is done very easily with latches in the boot. Interior plastics are scratch-prone, which is a bit disappointing. Driving experience is good on the whole. Mine has the 5 speed auto. Acceleration is good for the 2.5 four cylinder, but the trans seems to be programmed for economy. I don't see the need to be in fifth gear while doing 60km/h around suburbia, which the trans has a tendency to do. Of course, the car has manual/sports mode for manual shifting (as well as paddle shifters), so you can take control of the shifting if you want to. My main gripe with the trans, related to its economy tendencies in full auto mode, is the reluctance to kick down when you need it. And sometimes when you put the foot down the car jumps up 2 or 3 gears and you can end up in 1st or 2nd in the 5-6,000 rpm range without wanting or needing it! Overall, a little annoyed I didn't purchase the manual 6. Otherwise on the road, the car is a nice drive, with good steering - feels accurate and goes where you want it to. Doesn't feel like the largish car that it is. Ride on the factory 18s can be a little bumpy. This has been noted in other reviews online. I suspect the suspension is firmer (vs non sports model) which accounts for some of the firmness as well. Personally I find it a bit rough at times.Similar opinion? Brilliant car
I bought a 2011 luxury sports hatch. After 28,000kms I am extremely happy with the car. Looks great inside and out, Very comfortable (I regularly do interstate trips) and very good on fuel. Nothing has gone wrong, servicing is very reasonable (hasn't car servicing come down heaps over the years?). I would strongly recommend this car...except now i want the new Mazda 6!

Peterasked
My Mazda 6 hatch GH, 2010 luxury sports model, (sunroof, leather seats, navigation system etc) passenger side dash has just recently started "melting" after being parked in the sun (Brisbane QLD) for a few hours over several days. This car is garaged every night, when at head office it is parked under shade sails or totally undercover. It has 96000 km on the clock. Not a lot of Kilometers as I have another older Mazda 626 that I use for a lot of other tasks, such as parking at bus stations, etc. Is Mazda Australia replacing these obviously faulty dash's? Mine is under ten years old and in America they accepted the fault and extended the warranty to ten years for the dash. I see the Mazda 3 also has the same problem as well. Seen footage where Current Affairs in New Zealand got involved for a owner who was ignored from the start and the issue was resolved free of charge, after their involvement. I had the previous Mazda 6 Hatch 2006, model GG from new and never had an issue with it. Only sold it last year, 2022. If they are not willing to fix it I doubt I will buy another new Mazda. Will they replace it? It should be done free of charge.
Update, went to Mazda Mt Gravatt (QLD) today (28/01/2020) and they are going to fit a new passenger side dash on Friday (31/01/2020). That is the section of dash that is affected, in three days time at no charge. Excellent response, Zoom, Zoom Mazda.

We have owned a Mazda 6 GG model since new 13 years and had new the previous one for 2 years prior to that. We're considering buying a Mazda 6 GH 2008. Am I going to be as happy with it or are there things I need to be aware of on inspection? Thanks
