Practical yet fun to drive family hatch (GH)
Bought the 2011 Mazda6 Touring hatch new from Tom Kerr Mazda (now Ryde Mazda).
Powertrain: average MZR (L5-VE) 2.5L NA engine mated with 5AT (with manual mode) delivers 125kw @ 6000rpm / 226Nm @ 4000rpm does the job, fuel consumption is relatively high in stop/start traffic condition (~13L/100km running 91 unleaded) but OK once we get out of Sydney metropolitan area (>30km/h average speed).
Exterior: The front looks OK, pre kodo design (a low creeping predator), the front wheel arch is great but it doesn't translate into the body and rear wel...Read more
l (3rd gen has the same problem). Side profile is probably the best to look at. Rear (boot) looks chunky and bulky, the dual exhaust looks sporty but needs a better diffuser to cover the muffler (fat but not squat enough...)... Interior: Leather (synthetic) quality is good, overall interior is black and sporty, works well, no complaints. Handling: Best of its class, don't need to repeat what is already known.Purchased in October 2021 for $33,450.00.

Love My Car
Bought 2nd hand at the start of the year, so 5 years old when we got it and it feels like a brand new car (we were driving a 20 year old car before though...).
Touring model with leather seats really takes it up a notch from the fabric seats in other models we'd tested. Love the feel of the car, love the sounds, very spacious, the wagon boot is perfect for life with a dog. Love that the back seats can fold completely flat. The drivers seat has pre-set seat placement - perfect for a shared car.
Only thing I absolutely cannot stand is the inte...Read more

Good spacious car
The car is cool to drive and I enjoy it . It has sufficient airbags to protect ALL passengers.
The cabin height of drivers seat could have been bit more spacious. It is tough to perform head checks if you have decent height as the head touches the top even with the seat at it lowest position.

Overall good
Overall it is a nice car, leather interior, auto wipers, auto headlights, personalised seat controls. Only issue is the Bluetooth, it is terrible. Got to do everything over a lengthy voice control and whilst playing music it constantly drops out. I listen to a lot of music over Bluetooth so very dissapointing.

Love the Mazda 6!
This Mazda 6 was my third car and I absolutely love it.
It's so smooth to drive and handles very well.
It takes off quickly at lights and lives it up the zoom zoom Mazda slogan.
The fuel is efficient. I drive it everyday and only have to fill up around every 3-4 weeks.
The engine is very quiet and the brake system is well designed.
I've had this car for 1 1/2 years and haven't had any major issues.
The boot is huge.
The sound system has nice bass.
It would be great if it had bluetooth but it's a 2007 model so it wasn't as popular back then. It could be customised for this option by a mechanic.
In the end, I would recommend the Mazda 6 to anyone looking for a new car.

The perfect workhorse!
This car is the perfect work horse for a growing family. Extremely spacious, very fuel efficient and very good power for a 2.5 liter. Have left many v6 rivals biting my dust at the lights :D And the manual gearbox model is a rare gem which can actually handle the power of the engine without any problems. We've had a recall for the Takata airbag problem, which went very smoothly. We've had our car since new and not planning to sell it for a long time coz there are no more manual gearbox option and my better half and I love a manual gearbox. The ...Read more
Bose sound system was good, but have replaced the factory head unit and amp and now it sounds even better. Have no complaints about the car. Be ware of the dealers though. I often wonder if they do the things they say they do at a service. I've often found that they mention tire rotation in the service tax invoice but I know they haven't rotated the tires coz I always mark them to see if they have been rotated and they have not (Offending dealer here is airport Mazda). So if they say they do the tire rotation and they actually don't, what else are they claiming to do and charge for but don't do? I have complained about this to the service manager a few times. He of course apologizes for this every time but the tire rotation doesn't happen. I do the tire rotation at home by myself.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Nothing but problems
I had a Mazda 6 09 model and have had nothing but problems. My car has been affected by the original Taka airbag recall. Another unofficial recall because the drivers seat would fall backwards into the back seat this took 6 months fighting with Mazda Australia and my local service centre to get fixed. The Service centre then told me I had a number of things that needed fixing such as CV joints and we’re going to charge me $1500 for reconditioned joints plus labour.
I took the car to my mechanic who told me that the joints were fine and had i...Read more
n fact been replaced with the gear box 1yr ago. Other minor things Mazda told me needed fixing my mechanic disagreed. To top it all off I wake up to find my car had spontaneously combusted after sitting cold for over 12 hours and is now a write off. I will never purchase a Mazda again. This was my first newish car. In the two years I had it I had more problems then any of the earlier models i had previously. Don’t waste your money and watch it literally go up in smoke.Similar opinion? Really Fuel Efficient and a Pleasure to Drive
My first ever Mazda. Low KMs and tidy.
I don't think I will ever own anything else. Fuel efficient. Easy to drive. I own a wagon but even then it's not huge and I find it easy to reverse parallel park.
Plently of leg room in the front and back.
So far so good. Let's see what this year brings.

Good Car with Skyactiv tech!
This car has good torque and fuel efficiency. Driving it is full of fun. Noise control is better than my previous Accord Euro, but comparing with Lexus, it still has a long way to go.
Interior is quite beautiful. Legroom is fine for a sporty car.
Never have any big issue with this car.

Great car terrible customer service
Melting dashboard issues were rejected for a number of years blaming the owners - this may be getting resolved soon but Mazda are poor with communications.
Safety issue with drivers seat collapsing will become a safety recall but until then it's up to the owner!
Airbag control module failure has prompted a safety recall in USA but over here not a murmer.
As I said great car despite those problems but I'd hardly call that great service.

Mazda 6 Sport Wagon - Tops!
This car is a great drive - hugs the road nicely, very tame at speed and refined handling. Easy on fuel, not so much on tyres if you don't rotate them regularly. Do that and you will reap the benefits in extending tyre wear. Lane departure, parking assist, kinetic recovery system all work well, and the steering wheel paddles to shift gears in sports mode are fun, if not impractical at normal speeds. New Mazda paint formula means the duco will last - metallic red is a great colour!

Perfect middle class car
The Mazda 6 is a great car for any growing family, that occasionally goes for long road trips or zip around the city. Spacious front and back with standard large 7" in dash screen with GPS and Bluetooth audio. We have the Sport model, which comes with leather seats, climate control, fog lights, 17" alloys that gives the smoothest ride. We upgraded from the Mazda 3, and could tell the difference in ride comfort straight away.

Excellent fun to drive car which doesn’t break the bank with fuel economy
Upgrading from a Toyota Camry this car was an entire league ahead in terms of features and performance. The handling is excellent, it turns around corners with excellent traction, the dashboard is very clear and easy to read, the seats are superbly comfortable, the maintenance is very affordable and there’s plenty of room in the boot. This is a car which is well made, fun to drive and surprisingly fuel efficient. The only complaint I would have is that the classic is a little low to the ground, so ocasionally it hiccups over large speed bumps. But apart from that, it’s an exceptional car and well worth buying.

Better than a luxury car
I've driven a few luxury cars and while they may be impressive the current Mazda 6 definitely is on par. It has the latest technology, navigation and bluetooth is on point, the glass speedometer that goes up and down is fantastic. The car is very easy to drive and manoeuvre and very comfortable. Good legroom and nice interiors. The hand break is a switch which takes a while to get used to but definitely no hindrance to the driving experience. The side mirrors automatically close as the car locks which also automatically locks as you leave the car. Exteriors also have a luxury appearance. Have been driving Honda for 15 years and changed to a new Honda every 3 years but the Mazda has definitely won me over.

Perfect, seriously there is nothing about it that I'd change
The visual dashboard is fricking awesome and has so many features: music, radio, sat-nav, bluetooth, etc. It also handles amazingly well for a tuner and its acceleration is great too. Oh, and the interior is super relaxing to be in; the leather seats aren't too coarse or soft and there are just enough compartments to fit whatever equipment or paraphernalia I might bring on a drive. And the wagon's boot is just perfect for my super over-sized dog, we can even fit my sister's guitar, an amp and the dog at once!

Best car owned
Love this car, first car bought new that has absolutely no faults, now done over 90000 klms, only trouble is that the car has been so good that my wife refuses to trade up to another car. Like the pin point steering, changed the multimedia unit in the first week of ownership that provided reverse camera, Sat Nav, DVD player etc, which I recommend.

very good value
2013 touring model petrol wagon .
Likes, upmarket interior and features, low servicing costs, excellent reliability .
Dislikes, road ( tyre ) noise, holds on to higher gears for fuel economy.
petrol engine lacks torque if fully loaded, you would need to try the diesel engine if that was your intended use.

My Mazda 6 hatch GH, 2010 luxury sports model, (sunroof, leather seats, navigation system etc) passenger side dash has just recently started "melting" after being parked in the sun (Brisbane QLD) for a few hours over several days. This car is garaged every night, when at head office it is parked under shade sails or totally undercover. It has 96000 km on the clock. Not a lot of Kilometers as I have another older Mazda 626 that I use for a lot of other tasks, such as parking at bus stations, etc. Is Mazda Australia replacing these obviously faulty dash's? Mine is under ten years old and in America they accepted the fault and extended the warranty to ten years for the dash. I see the Mazda 3 also has the same problem as well. Seen footage where Current Affairs in New Zealand got involved for a owner who was ignored from the start and the issue was resolved free of charge, after their involvement. I had the previous Mazda 6 Hatch 2006, model GG from new and never had an issue with it. Only sold it last year, 2022. If they are not willing to fix it I doubt I will buy another new Mazda. Will they replace it? It should be done free of charge.
Update, went to Mazda Mt Gravatt (QLD) today (28/01/2020) and they are going to fit a new passenger side dash on Friday (31/01/2020). That is the section of dash that is affected, in three days time at no charge. Excellent response, Zoom, Zoom Mazda.
