Feels sturdy and safe and a breeze to drive
I recently purchased a 2015 CX-5 Akera AWD and am loving it so far. It feels safe, sturdy and is very smooth and nice to drive. I thought it would feel too big since I'm used to sedans, but it really doesn't and I can still see a lot. It has loads of features I wasn't fussed about, but now driving it, I actually really like the parking sensors and camera, as well as the blind spot monitoring. I have an old narrow blue stone alleyway to enter through to my apartment carpark and it's acrobatic at the best of times to get in and out, so with a lar...Read more
ger car than before, the sensors have been much appreciated. I hope the powered electrics last a long time, as I have always been wary of everything being powered and not manual due to the inability to use a window for instance if the power goes, but it is very convenient and Mazda have a good history.Purchased in January 2021 for $28,496.00.

Never buy a Mazda!!!
Had a Toyota Camry for 17 years. Never one issue, no rust, nothing broke, only needed normal services. Upgrade to a brand new Mazda CX-5. So many problems. Aside from services not done properly, needing to be returned to get redone; Rust in roof when under warranty but Mazda refuse to accept responsibility saying a stone chip caused it, even though there is no stone chip, a smash repairer confirmed there was no stone chip and Mazda did not see the car in flesh, just looked a a photo taken of a mobile phone. Then the fan for air con/air ma...Read more
king a ratty noise, but just out of warranty so we are forced to pay for new one; and the latest, my mobile phone will not work properly on the Hands Free/Bluetooth entertainement system. Worked fine for a year, then suddenly not working. Reason according to Mazda, as it worked fine before, a new software upgrade on phone has caused it to stop working with the old software in car. Cannot upgrade car software, so cannot use handsfree/infotainment system other than the radio. Pay over $35000 for a car that is having issues only weeks out of warranty. Never will I buy a Mazda again!!!!

My real experience with Mazda Australia and Penfold Burwood after getting my CX-5 - 4 days with engine issue
I am a fan of CX-5 before I meet below so sad story with Mazda in Australia.
I have a CX-5 2012 in my country and it almost never have issue since 2013 to Oct, 2022.
I arrived at Melb in Oct, 2022 and with no think I buy CX-5 cause I trust the product and Mazda. But below sad experience really make me sick and I will sell my CX-5 and buy a new car in other brand.
Sick experience with Mazda AU, and Penfold Burwood Dealer:
I buy a brand new CX-5 Akera, 2.5L Turbo Petrol in Nov, 2022, the engine has issue after 4 days around 30KM drive. Mazda ...Read more
request me to drive it back to Penfold. After few days they said the engine DO have issue and there is a part of the engine need to be changed, the part will be delivered in few day, and Penfold mentioned this is their first time to change this part engine... I am not car specialist and I feel so anxiety cause I don't know if the car is still safe after changing engine, so that's why I buy a brand new instead of used car. I reject to replace the engine, instead I request AU Mazda to give me a new car cause this one I only drive 4 days but have engine issue, it's a bad quality product. Mazda said we will consider to change a new car for you cause you only drive 4 days, but you need to agree fix it first. Then I agreed. Then after 2 weeks Penfold Burwood call me that the car is fixed after changing the part engine (VVT part for sure and something part I cannot remember all). I said OK, but I reject to get the car cause I am waiting for AU Mazda to give a new. And they said YES, usually this kind of issue happen in one week Mazda should give you a new car...then I am confidence I will get a new car.

Perfect upgrade from our Mazda 6
We have owned a Mazda 6 for 18 years and its always been very reliable. We purchased a Mazda CX-5 for an upgrade and are very happy with it.
Great value for money and all the features youd expect in a modern car.
No issues

Best car ever!
The Mazda CX5 is the best car we have ever bought. We bought it from Paradise Motors SA in October 2022. After considering many other medium SUVs, the CX5 confirms all the positive reviews we read months before making our decision. We chose "soul red" colour and had the MotorOne Protektiv Car Care product included. Often people remark on the quality of the paintwork (eg very shiny) and are impressed (as we are) on the general appearance of the car. It's the 4th Mazda vehicle we've had, including 3 new ones from Paradise Motors who are simply the best as far as service is concerned - we won't go anywhere else!

Looks nice but impractical
Looks nice drives like a dream but the centre console is like half a metre wide and highly inconvenient. Please make a slime line in future models, please and thankyou.

Maxx 2018 no extras. Love this vehicle. So many safety functions. Reverse camera is excellent, big screen size, so easy to read & sensors identify rear hazards. Blind spot monitoring is really helpful. Fuel economy seems good. Vision is great, nice height & good views from windscreens & mirrors. Cargo area huge. Bluetooth is great for music & incoming calls. Music centre is easy to control from steering wheel, but you cant use touch screen while driving, which means passenger cant skip music tracks. Middle back seat passenger doesnt have legroo...Read more

Amazing car can not image life without it.
Extremely comfortable and easy to drive used in daily comutes, going to work picking up grocery etc, the car is serviced every 6 months. Have not had any issues tho when you turn the car off sometimes the monitor and ignition is still on having to turn it off twice.

Comfy but noisy
Have had the car for 6 months now. Comfy to drive, passenger seats etc
Not the fastest car off the mark, cruises comfortably at highway speeds with decent acceleration for overtaking.
Would really have been great if turbo engine was an option at time of purchase .
The car really needs the extra power you get when test driving the equinox which had its own weaknesses. Fuel economy is not great. Just over 10l per100.
Pop up display on windscreen is very handy. Built in navigator is surprisingly good. Sound system not great, Some other models hav...Read more

Such a great family car
We love our cx 5 it is perfect for our little family and has been very reliable and comes with such fantastic safety features
We have 3 children in car seats across the back so it’s a squishy fit but works for now
The boot space is enough for prams and such but for holidays we have found a roof pod is necessary for all the luggage
Fuel economy is pretty good and the car drives really well

Love my CX-5 and Mazda's customer service is second to none.
I have a 2012 CX-5 since it was 18 months old. Excellent car, love every aspect.
Use it for short trips: everyday drop offs, long highway trips (melb to central Aus & back again), camping trips towing a small box trailer and the occasional All wheel drive rocky mountain climb. Our driveway is also a menace which is why I had to sell my Mazda3 for the CX-5 - So I could get up our driveway! Cx5 's clearance is excellent, haven't had an issue going anywhere, ever. I can stop on the steepest incline or decline and move off smoothly every time witho...Read more

10 K review
This is 10K review, bought our car in December 2018 after long search. We tested several cars like Lexus, Volvo and Subaru, but none of them passed our requirements list.
Our last car Subaru Forester XT lasted almost 13 years and covered more than 300K.
Finally, version of CX-5 with turbo engine!
After driving this car for more than 8 months we can review it.
PROS:
1. Value for money – car is packed with many features, leather seats, electronic gadgets, etc
2. Driving position is adjustable and stored for two drivers
3. Very good acceleration
4. The best is HUD – together with GPS system is fantastic. You do not have to look at navigation screen....Read more

Be warned
Stay far far away!!! Our Mazda CX-5 was the diesel max sport purchased in 2013. What a piece of crap. Don’t get me wrong, whilst it was drivable we loved it, but be warned: DON’T skip or be late on a single service or Mazda will eat you alive. Our engine stopped working. We were 10000 late for its service. Life gets busy with little ones. The engine stopped working due to the oil being a clag filled mess. They blamed it on us using the wrong oil or the fact that it was “heavily neglected”. I wouldn’t think that 10000 over would class as “heavil...Read more
y neglected”. Long story short we are left with a 24k bill for a new engine. Stay away from diesel. I was way too nervous to buy the diesel to begin with in 2013 due to this concern. Unless you will never run late on a service and will take in on large hour long drives each day- stay clear away. Screw yoh Mazda.Purchased in July 2021 at Mazda Dealers for $38,000.00.

Stylish, Safe and the Best Red Car on the Market
We are just your average couple, we drive our Mazda nearly very day in and around our town and a couple of times a month longer drives to Melbourne and Geelong. We had a Mazda3 sports hatch and clocked up 117,000 and not a blip or problem so when it was time to move on and up grade it was a simple choice of another Mazda, though we did try out other makes we kept coming back to the Mazda. We had and issue with one of the headlights which was replaced by the service centre at no cost to us and the car had finished its warranty period. I love my ...Read more

In love with my car!
I have had my Mazda CX-5 for just over 12 months and have never looked back! It is so comfortable to be in and drive. The technology is user friendly and has so many features to assist you such as the navigation and even the average fuel consumption. It is driven each day for commuting to work, the gym and around town. I have had my CX-5 serviced once and the customer service I received was wonderful, very friendly and informative throughout the entire experience.

Great Reliable Car
I have just completed four years of ownership of my Mazda CX-5 (and still going) and completed nearly 60,000 km. It is the 2.5 l petrol engine GT. In that time, I have had no mechanical issues with the car - starts first time, every time. It is great in the city and on the highway. Paint and interior still look as new. Servicing costs have always been reasonable through the Mazda dealer.
The only issues in that time were:
1. The battery was just replaced after 4 years - the first indication was that the i-stop function stopped working. This is...Read more

CX5 Akira 2018-I love this car
I have had my Cx5 2.5l petrol Akira for 16 months and it has been awesome.
It is my daily drive around Sydney and for trips to the Snowy and Blue mountains.
Smooth to drive, safe, comfortable, functional, stylish, good for towing my trailer.
The servicing dept of Mazda has been terrific.
I have friends with more expensive makes of cars who have driven my CX5 and have admitted it is better than their cars costing $30,000 more.
I just got back from a country trip and was getting 7.5l per 100km.
Great Job Mazda.

Has Mazda solved its diesel engine issues In the 2022 Mazda CX5?
For those complaining about the engine how much highway driving do you do?

Just got my 2022 Akera. I have terrible reflections from the dash (where the HUD is) to the windscreen. It changes in different light conditions, so sometimes “flickers”. Incredibly distracting. It is resolved by wearing polarised sunnies, but this really dulls the heads up active display. It also occurs with at night with overhead street and With tunnel lighting. In these intances glasses can’t be worn.
I didn’t notice it when I test drove the car (May have had my sunglasses on) and now it’s so bad I regret buying it. Apart from the reversing camera, I otherwise love the car.
