Decent family car
We are quite happy we upgraded to our CX5.
The driving experience is fine.
All accessories are great but would like some air vent to the back seats.
There is a good amount of space but not as big as we need for 1 child & a dog.
With a pram in the back there is not much more space for other things unless we leave it out.
Overall though, good small family car.

Best care I have ever owned
The Mazda CX-5 is a pleasure to drive, I have the diesel sport model and it has plenty of guts and is still extremely economical. I went from a V6 Kluger to the Mazda CX5 and have never looked back. It is perfect for us as a family of 4, with various kids always in and out of it. There is heaps of room in the boot and we never feel cramped in the cabin. Many years ago I had a Mazda 3 which I loved but, I prefer being higher off the road. I purchased the car second hand at the end of a friends lease, and it drives and feels like a new car still

Love this car but not very roomy
I love this car and the its the top of the line model. I drove a CRV for years and when my son was younger and I'm glad I didn't have the CX5 then because the boot space is too small for a pram. Its a zippy little vehicle and good to drive but the space near the transmission etc is not as roomy as the Honda. The Cx5 drives better than the Honda, but it does lack space. I also find that I'm so comfortable in this car that it could be dangerous ie I'm too relaxed in it. I have the turbo diesel model so it has that nice rumbly truck noise, but oth...Read more
ers may not enjoy that. I love the lane departure warning system which helps me concentrate better. The heated seats are most welcome during winter. I do wish the Akera had a colour display system for speed etc rather than the paler yellow but I gather the newer models may have that. the automatic headlight system is easy to use. it dips when its sees another car approaching and goes to high beam automatically after they've passed. The headlights also follow the direction of your travel, but I haven't noticed a lot of difference with that. This car would have sold for well over $52k plus in 2014 but there's no way I would've spent that on it. Great second hand vehicle for me at this stage of my life, but if my son was smaller it would've been a bit crowded.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Amazing!
Love the car! The interior is very nice and the seating is way beyond comfortable. It’s speed is great and even has an extra little button to push on the pedal to go faster! It has USB plugs and aux to play my music through the speakers. I love the phone features and makes my drives easy!

perfect family car
It drives well, I've driven dozens of cars and this has a great feel. Responsive, fast acceleration, very fuel efficient, comfortable.
Its big enough to fit the family, dog and groceries but not so big that you struggle to fit through indoor car parks. Alot of the SUVs on the market are just monsters. This is a compact SUV, just perfect.

Love it!
Very comfortable seats, enough head room for tall person to drive. Good leg room in front, a bit limited in the back seat but not uncomfortable for longer legs. Smooth driving and quiet with minimal road noise. Great fuel economy around town, excellent over distance - 420-480 L/km. Seat slide adjustment gets stuck at times and can become annoying. Got all features you need, individual air con, phone charging points, Bluetooth, etc. No engine problems in 5yrs. The only significant "fault" is the battery. When it starts to decline, different aler...Read more
ts pop up on dashboard, which is annoying as it is intermittent and relates to I-stop system. (Fuel saving system) Costs $600 to replace battery which is not divulged at pre sale. Otherwise a nice looking car, with all modern systems, fuel efficient, comfortable for family of four young adults (would be a bit tight for family of five). Looks great too!Similar opinion? Love it
Absolutely love my car! Fantastic on fuel, smooth to drive and comfortable. Great amount of space for the size, quiet. Has enough leg room and space for everyone. Had a few issues with dashboard lights. Looks great in black, great accessories come standard. Floor mats are hard to change only complaint .

Great car.
Love my CX-5, great size, drives well.
Could probably use more power for over taking (maybe the new ones have changed)
Gear stick seems to be a bit sticky.
Haven't had any issues apart from the battery due to i-stop - make sure you call Mazda if your battery dies mine was still in warranty.

Mazda are hiding something
All I am trying to do is to have Mazda acknowledge, in writing that our CX5 is safe given the public information on Takata airbags.
I have checked the recall lists and our car is not listed, however as ACCC pointed out that could happen in future.
I had a call from "Mike" saying he was with Mazda. That was last Monday. I asked him simply to confirm in writing that we had nothing to fear from defective airbags. Strangely he said he would have to clear that with the "legal department". The issue is simple either our car has safe airbags or not.
Voluntary recall is not effective when big money is involved, see,

What is Mazda Trying to Hide?
Vehicle is good BUT!!!
What is Mazada trying to hide?
Mazda use Takata airbags. Takata airbags can and HAVE injured and killed people. We own a 2014 Mazda, it is not on a recall list at present but the ACCC say it could be in future. Too late to tell us if it kills us.
I have contacted Mazda Australia by phone and in writing seeking assurance our car has safe airbags. NO Response. Makes you think we have a problem.
Pass this on to anyone you know with a Mazda and get them to contact Mazda, not just their dealer but Mazda Australia before it’s too late.

Reliable car!
I have the base model. Nothing to fancy but really a reliable and spacious SUV for a small family. lots of leg spaces at the rear seats. a pleasure to drive and quite fuel efficient. I don't really like the Auto stops model, but you can always turn it off.

Great SUV, Reasonably Priced
I've had this car (the AWD version) now for almost two years, and it's been a very good vehicle. The handling and driving is good, although it can be a little noisy. Interior is good for the price, with decent space and a useful bluetooth connection. The main issue I've had was with the battery for the stop-start engine, which failed and had to be replaced for about $600. The battery failure isn't unreasonable, considering the vehicle was 4 years old, but it is disappointing. Overall, I would recommend this car for those looking for a second-hand SUV. It's a quality car that is well priced, drives well and has good features.

Reliable Family Car
A pleasure to drive, lots of get up and go for an SUV. Comfortable driving position, although visibilty is sometimes a pain due to the thick pillars either side of the windscreen. Stylish interior with a well laid out dash, easy controls and a laggy but useful built in GPS. Has been very reliable and fuel efficient.

Love it more than my wife
I bought this car as my second car from my friend coz second hand car is dirty cheap although not so cheap compared with other brand. Love the automatic head light and wiper.
Driving experience:Basically, it is flawless for driving. I enjoy it so much.
However, there are several cons: Fuel consuming is not as expected. Higher than expected. Interior is ordinary but worth the money.

Easy to drive, reliable vehicle
Easy to drive and park, fits 1 baby seat, two boosters at the back and has a good sized boot. A tank of premium petroleum costs about $60 to fill. Mazda service costs about $200 for a normal service. A good, reliable family car. I like the space and legroom

Good mid sized SUV for the family
Handles like a car though noise is a little bit noticeable. As it's a 1st generation 2.0 litre engine, it is quite underpowered which Mazda fixed in the later models. The upside is petrol costs are kept to a minimum. Features and layout are top notch though rear occupant lacks important air vents. Extremely reliable and haven't had issues after purchasing it second hand for a year.

Beware of faulty clips for exterior panels
Purchased the car new when they first came out, only had 10 days left on the warranty when an exterior side panel began to lift off.
We were told it must be a faulty panel clip and rather than the 10 minutes to fix it,it took 1.5 hours. We were told to keep a close eye on it
In case it happened again.
Just wondering if the whole car was put together with faulty clips. We certainly hope not!!

I love my car!
My Cx5 is totally reliable. It is very economic to run, costing approx $70 per fortnight & i get 670km for that. It is quite, smooth & powerful. Theres been no issue with getting in & out of tight parking spots or traffic. When seated in the car you are right up high & can see all around making you feel so much safer. The interior looks like it should be in a luxary car. The displays are bright & easy to read. The reverse camera is precise & the touch screen & bluetooth so handy. My friends, work colleagues & even the local police all want to get a Cx5, they say it looks great. Its a big suv that has the economy of a smaller car. So far its worth every cent.

Good overall medium diesel SUV
Mazda CX-5 Maxx Sport iActiv AWD 2.2L Petrol Turbo MY14 (Oct 2014)
Overall
Highly rated with good balance of looks / performance / functionality. Buyers should be aware of a few little areas which could be improved but overall if I had my time over I would buy this car again. Proof in pudding - we are only getting rid of it to upgrade in size and going to the CX-9 big brother.

I purchased my CX-5 second hand through a mazda dealership, buying a turbo diesel as i live in the Kimberley and it will be great for exploring. I recently was on a drive back to darwin where it looks like my turbos are not in good condition, The edges of the blades dont sit flush, with 80,000km on the clock they shouldnt be so worn. Anyone else experience the same issues??

How do I find the model number?

It was the only option for the year I purchased so it has to be correct I assume. In the manual I would say though. Or inside the door on the vin plate
