Great comfort and large storage
The interior is designed very nice and comfortable with large seating area. On average, every 700km drive will cost me $50 on petrol. The large storage space in boot is really generous which can hold 4 large luggage easily without folding the back seats. There is not much noise when driving but the istop function is a little bit annoying. Every time the engine starts again when istop turns off, the car will vibrate for a second which makes me feel uncomfortable.

Best car I have driven so far!
Perfect car for a small family. Enough space with a car seat at the back. Driver seat is comfortable with state of the art dashboard. Impressive active driving display with GPS and speed limit on windscreen. However, driving display disappears with polarised sunglasses. Very good pickup and smooth when turning on corners.

Great value for money and safety standards
Good medium size family SUV.
Quiet and smooth, drives like a car. More safety features compare to other Japanese competitors in same price range.
Lower capped price servicing compare to Volkswagen.
Dislike missing digital speed display in speedo. No net or hooks in boot to hold down stowage.
No road side assist provided with warranty.

Simple and elegant
I actually wanted a family car which not only looks good but also delivers. I was looking into few others models but this one fitted right into the budget and reliablilty. I personally likes it interiors better than its competitors, decent leg room and easy drive. The family loves it!

Its been all Zoom Zoom for me
Im loving my new CX5 sick!!! We needed a new car very badly after 18 years with our beloved honda.
My hubby gets to drive a lot of different hire cars for work travel so he ran a few popular brands through their paces.
To be honest mazda was not even on our shopping list at first. But after having a good look at the various models available then a test drive it was mazda all the way for us. We had a hard time choosing between the CX5 or the CX3 but we are glad we settled on the 5, it fits what we want in a car perfectly. Having our last car...Read more

Great tweeks made to SUV
Hubby updated late last year from our old CX5.
We chose the signature soul red - with the off white leather interior. I'm glad we did as it just pops- and with the light interior out really stands out and does not get as hot.
The seats are way more cushie than the previous and the cabin is very quiet. That was an issue we had with the last CX5- quite noisy - although most Mazdas are! They have apparently increased The sound deadening in the under body. Our does feel a tad heavier- but it could just be my imagination. The soft touch interi...Read more

In love with my CX5 GT
Should have done this sooner. I find the car itself very comfortable to sit in and drive. Easily adjustable seating, the technology is great, I love the Bose speakers, electric sunroof and I have found that I don’t lose power when the air conditioning is running. So much cheaper on petrol than my last car.

Good but front seats really uncomfortable
This car is great in many ways on performance and handling and interior space, but I find the seats very uncomfortable for my neck. The head rest pushes my head forward into a non ergonomic position and I have to put a cushion on the seat to make it OK which wastes the lumber support feature. My partner feels the same so it's not just me! If the headrest had a forward backward adjustment setting it would partly solve the problem but it doesn't. One other big flaw I have noticed is how subtly and late the car communicates that it needs petrol. N...Read more
o loud ding or bright/flashing light and certainly not much advance warning (40-50km). In <7000 km we have almost run out of petrol 3 times because we didn't see the little signal in the dash hidden by the steering wheel or notice the change in tone of grey to indicate the level was getting low. We haven't come close to achieving the fuel consumption they quote on the combined or extra-urban trips either. The urban value of 9.5 L/100km is fairly spot on but we haven't got near the 6.4 quoted for the highway. Finally, the entertainment controls are not very intuitive and its hard to change anything if you're driving. A bit disappointed.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great!
Wasn’t planning to get this car but in the end we did!!
Great car! Very fuel efficient & great for our love for road trips.
Interior is very modern and luxurious.
The engine is very quiet when driving, navigation needs to be a bit updated as the layout looks a bit old.
But overall, great car!

Hard to fault
This car offers a refined drive only normally found in top end luxury cars like BMW and Mercedes. Leather seats and trim really make this car stand out and even the honeycomb grill looks attractive. Safety feature are very useful without being overbearing. The blind spot warning is excellent allowing me to change lanes safely without having to look back. The on-board infotainment system is easy to use and very responsive. I have had no trouble with pairing my phone for seamless bluetooth connection. At first I was disappointed there was no Andr...Read more
oid Auto or Apple Car Play but the reliability of the Mazda system makes up for this. It just work first time every time. I really like the head up display which looks like it is being projected on the front bonnet. Fuel consumption is as expected with around 10 litres per hundred km for city driving and 6 for distance driving. So in summary, this is a really good car. It does cost more than comparable rivals like Hyundai but for what you get it is well worth the price. I would have no hesitation recommending this car.Similar opinion? Amazing vehicle absolutely love it.
It’s such an easy car to drive. Handles beautifully. I have the Akera and it comes with every possible safety feature I could ever want. Love the heads up display. It shows all your GPS instructions, your speed and the speed of the road your on as it reads and displays road signs. So, so easy to drive. I love it. Highly recommend it.
Uses a bit of petrol around town admittedly but highway driving is about 7.9 to 8.1. At the moment
because I’ve just been doing short drives the last couple of months I’m using 10.1 per hundred on average.
I’ve even managed a baby seat a booster seat (the encore 10) and a tetherless booster in the back seat so I’m pretty happy.
Love the automatic boot too.
June 30th 2018 Update: Love this car...Read more
Have had this car since August 2017. Love the way it drives, the quietness inside the cabin and the handling of the car. It's a bit squashy in the back as I have a baby seat, a hi rider booster seat and a tetherless booster as well, but the fact that I can get them in there is great. Legroom in the front of the vehicle is great. Again a bit tight in the back. Running costs are a bit high, but the salesman warned me about that before I purchased the car so I knew what I was up for. On country trips I got 7.5 but around town its 10.5 litres per 100. Given my driving is local and stop, start short trips I think that's pretty normal. Small petrol tank, about 52 litres I think from memory. I'd have preferred that to be bigger, but I was used to the Mazda 6 which did give better mileage to be honest. However, I wouldn't go back to the 6. The CX5 is perfect for me. This is my third Mazda and I chose Mazda again because both my previous cars never gave me a hint of bother, the first one I had for 10 years, the CX5 has been flawless as well to date. Very, very happy with it. April 2022 Update. Would still thoroughly recommend this car. The interior is immaculate. No rips or tears despite having 3 kids in the back countless times. Which to be fair was squashy when all three were in car seats/boosters. The 11 year old is out of the booster now and having that extra room is great. It was tight getting belts done up as, and this would be my only issue with the car, the seat belt buckles are fitted right into the seat and don’t have any play in them. So with a baby seat and two boosters it was at times difficult to strap the one in the middle booster in. The petrol consumption is sitting steady on 10.4 litres per 100. But I was told by the salesperson before I bought it that it would use more than my previous Mazda 6. And my driving is always stop start and short trips. If I run it up the fwy I can get that consumption down. But of course once I’m back to everyday driving it will go up again. So after two years I can honestly say, I’m still in love with my CX5 Akera. I have added Apple CarPlay to it by the way. But there have been no mechanical issues or problems to date. I would still give it 5 stars.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Love my Mazda CX5
Driving our new Mazda CX-5 is a dream - automatic- rear view camera - parking sensors - proximity sensors - blue tooth connection to phone - phone button on steering wheel - dual control air conditioning - so many good features - I am a very happy customer. 6 months since purchase, we are still pinching ourselves that this vehicle is so good with so many great features.

Luv it so far. Only picked it up 5 days ago and can’t find any faults yet. Handles the road well, spacious inside. . Could do with a bigger glove compartment as the manual takes up most of the room. Got the red one and it’s gorgeous. Just got to keep hubbies hands off it cause it’s all mine!! Now a few years later: I purchased the bright red one and it is susceptible to showing scratches with little effort. ie my handbag has metal handles and this has scratched the doors usually getting into the car. Still love it though

GREAT FAMILY CAR
This car is great. It is a very smooth and quiet ride. We bought a automatic so of course there is that jolt when going up hill when the car is increasing speed. Apart from that it drives great and smooth.
The aircon in the front is great however the lowest temperature is 18 (our last car was a Mazda bt50 2014 and it went down to 16). The rear aircon is not that great however, it doesn’t have a strong flow and doesn’t feel as cold as the front. I also am not a big fan of the up and down buttons for the aircon temperature because they are but...Read more
tons. In our last car they were knobs and that was much better. A major feature I love is the dash between the two front seats for operating the display, it’s so smooth and easy to navigate. Connecting your phone via Bluetooth is very simple, however it doesn’t remember phones. This means you have to disconnect and reconnect another phone every time, instead of just selecting the other phone from the list. I have two kids in car seats and the backseat has plenty of room for these car seats without feeling crowed. You wouldn’t be able to have another person in the middle seat though. We have only had this car about two months now and bought brand new. Haven’t had any issues so I would say it’s reliable. We haven’t fueled up yet as we don’t drive that often so I can’t comment on that experience.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Love our new car
We've been driving our new CX-5 for a few months and absolutely love it. However, we have two baby seats in the back and it's a bit of a tight squeeze (we can't fit an adult in the middle back seat, but can fit another child). The boot is also on the small side when trying to fit in a pram and groceries etc. I'm not sure I'd want to drive a long distance in this due to lack of leg room with the baby seats, but it's an awesome run around town car and we're very happy with our purchase.

Great car all round
Purchased a Mazda CX5 Diesel AWD GT earlier this year. Cannot fault this vehicle, it is very economical especially on long trips, climbing mountains easily, and very comfortable. The lane changing assist is really good and the "backseat driver" telling you when you are over the speed limit if also very handy as it is so easy to go over the limit without noticing. Would highly recommend this vehicle.

Mazda CX-5 Akera Diesel
I have only had this car for 3 weeks I had to wait for 3 months. When I first sat in this car and oh my god I was in heaven on leather seats which are heated, the heads up display on the windscreen is fantastic you can see your speed you are travelling at as well as it reads the signs on the side of the road so you always know what speed to go, lane departing means if you loose concentration the car will pull you back to the middle of you lane, the blind spot sector is great for changing lanes helps when a car is on you blind spot so you don't ...Read more

January 30th 2018 Update: What a little beauty Mazda CX-5 Akera Diesel Performance is fantastic having a diesel you have so much pick up that when I first took off I was thrown back in my seat my words were WOW!!! The handling is just perfect so easy to drive and noise well there is none so quiet. You have heaps of leg room so if you are tall no problems at all. The interior is so easy to use everything in arms reach so you don’t need to take your eyes off the road, well the heads up display is a god sense all to do with the Car instruments are right in front of you, you have beeps if you change lanes when another car is too close, safest car I have ever driven. Very nice
Comfortable ride - good acceleration - spacious boot- interior a bit too much plastic and plastic chrome - comfy seats - good vision - sun roof creates wind noise when open but maybe that happens with all sun rooves as I have never had one before. Audio system ok but not intuitive
