My real experience with Mazda Australia and Penfold Burwood after getting my CX-5 - 4 days with engine issue
I am a fan of CX-5 before I meet below so sad story with Mazda in Australia.
I have a CX-5 2012 in my country and it almost never have issue since 2013 to Oct, 2022.
I arrived at Melb in Oct, 2022 and with no think I buy CX-5 cause I trust the product and Mazda. But below sad experience really make me sick and I will sell my CX-5 and buy a new car in other brand.

This is 10K review, bought our car in December 2018 after long search. We tested several cars like Lexus, Volvo and Subaru, but none of them passed our requirements list.
Our last car Subaru Forester XT lasted almost 13 years and covered more than 300K.
Finally, version of CX-5 with turbo engine!
After driving this car for more than 8 months we can review it.
PROS:
1. Value for money – car is packed with many features, leather seats, electronic gadgets, etc

CX5 Akira 2018-I love this car
I have had my Cx5 2.5l petrol Akira for 16 months and it has been awesome.
It is my daily drive around Sydney and for trips to the Snowy and Blue mountains.
Smooth to drive, safe, comfortable, functional, stylish, good for towing my trailer.
The servicing dept of Mazda has been terrific.
I have friends with more expensive makes of cars who have driven my CX5 and have admitted it is better than their cars costing $30,000 more.
I just got back from a country trip and was getting 7.5l per 100km.
Great Job Mazda.

Diesel engine issues
Engine oil level too high problem still exists in 2022 build.
The fix for this problem and advised during purchase for the above no longer existing has appeared at 3000 km mark and 5mths Vehicle mainly city driving with a couple of highway 3 hour journeys.
Beware

Mazda’s CX-5 Akera is a pleasure to drive and maintain...
The best SUV i have bought yet. Its been over 6 months, runs like a breeze...comfortable and smooth ride, easy steering control, enough power for city drive and perfect grunt with turbo on long drives, love the package with all features in the top model, interior is sleek and non-plastic so feels quieter and excellent electronics. The only drawback, it does not have a Traffic update system in the Nav, needs to connect to internet via phone hotspot before it gives you that feature. And that's unlike many other car makes which connect with Suna Traffic via Radio. Barring that short-coming i absolutely love my CX-5 and strongly recommend people to test drive one as its easy and very silent to ride in n drive.

Top in it's category!
Mazda has done an excellent job with it's second generation CX-5. Everything has been updated top to bottom. Upgrading from 2014 model to this has given me the chance to compare the two generations and feel the difference throughout.
It is in fact a new car. CX-5 was a brilliant car but the 2nd generation is almost a premium CUV with same price tag. The Akera badge can be compared with Audi or BMW mid range CUVs.
Interior and exterior details are well thought out and the material used specifically on the interior is really good.
I absolutely love the car and enjoy it everytime I drive it.
Purchased in March 2021 for $48,600.00.

Lexus cross shop
CX-5 Diesel Akera:
I was comparing with lexus NX.
CX-5 was way cheaper and I found NX too prolific inside / origami project out, perched on an aging Rav-4 chassis, pass.
Penny pinching:
Misses out on (zoom zoom ??) paddle shifters.
No shopping hooks - in an SUV
No coin drawer.
No light in my glove-box, foot-wells or any doors for that matter!!
Giant steel space saver spare wheel, which weighs a ton.

Great tweeks made to SUV
Hubby updated late last year from our old CX5.
We chose the signature soul red - with the off white leather interior. I'm glad we did as it just pops- and with the light interior out really stands out and does not get as hot.
The seats are way more cushie than the previous and the cabin is very quiet. That was an issue we had with the last CX5- quite noisy - although most Mazdas are! Hard to fault
This car offers a refined drive only normally found in top end luxury cars like BMW and Mercedes. Leather seats and trim really make this car stand out and even the honeycomb grill looks attractive. Safety feature are very useful without being overbearing. The blind spot warning is excellent allowing me to change lanes safely without having to look back. oid Auto or Apple Car Play but the reliability of the Mazda system makes up for this. It just work first time every time. I really like the head up display which looks like it is being projected on the front bonnet. Fuel consumption is as expected with around 10 litres per hundred km for city driving and 6 for distance driving. So in summary, this is a really good car. It does cost more than comparable rivals like Hyundai but for what you get it is well worth the price. I would have no hesitation recommending this car.Similar opinion? Amazing vehicle absolutely love it.
It’s such an easy car to drive. Handles beautifully. I have the Akera and it comes with every possible safety feature I could ever want. Love the heads up display. It shows all your GPS instructions, your speed and the speed of the road your on as it reads and displays road signs. So, so easy to drive. I love it. Highly recommend it.
Uses a bit of petrol around town admittedly but highway driving is about 7.9 to 8.1. At the moment
because I’ve just been doing short drives the last couple of months I’m using 10.1 per hundred on average.
I’ve even managed a baby seat a booster seat (the encore 10) and a tetherless booster in the back seat so I’m pretty happy.
Love the automatic boot too.

Have had this car since August 2017. Love the way it drives, the quietness inside the cabin and the handling of the car. It's a bit squashy in the back as I have a baby seat, a hi rider booster seat and a tetherless booster as well, but the fact that I can get them in there is great. Legroom in the front of the vehicle is great. Again a bit tight in the back. Running costs are a bit high, but the salesman warned me about that before I purchased the car so I knew what I was up for. On country trips I got 7.5 but around town its 10.5 litres per 100. Given my driving is local and stop, start short trips I think that's pretty normal. Small petrol tank, about 52 litres I think from memory. I'd have preferred that to be bigger, but I was used to the Mazda 6 which did give better mileage to be honest. However, I wouldn't go back to the 6. The CX5 is perfect for me. This is my third Mazda and I chose Mazda again because both my previous cars never gave me a hint of bother, the first one I had for 10 years, the CX5 has been flawless as well to date. Very, very happy with it. April 2022 Update. Would still thoroughly recommend this car. The interior is immaculate. No rips or tears despite having 3 kids in the back countless times. Which to be fair was squashy when all three were in car seats/boosters. The 11 year old is out of the booster now and having that extra room is great. It was tight getting belts done up as, and this would be my only issue with the car, the seat belt buckles are fitted right into the seat and don’t have any play in them. So with a baby seat and two boosters it was at times difficult to strap the one in the middle booster in. The petrol consumption is sitting steady on 10.4 litres per 100. But I was told by the salesperson before I bought it that it would use more than my previous Mazda 6. And my driving is always stop start and short trips. If I run it up the fwy I can get that consumption down. But of course once I’m back to everyday driving it will go up again. So after two years I can honestly say, I’m still in love with my CX5 Akera. I have added Apple CarPlay to it by the way. But there have been no mechanical issues or problems to date. I would still give it 5 stars.Purchased in April 2021 at Mazda Dealers.

Absolutely wonderful car love the auto open/Close boot button, smooth running and quite engine too many safety features to name all side assist cameras, car proximity warning keyless operation and happy with boot illumination lights Newcastle Mazda were a joy to deal with and were helpful with purchase and when delivering vehicle.

I have only had this car for 3 weeks I had to wait for 3 months. January 30th 2018 Update: What a little beauty Mazda CX-5 Akera Diesel Performance is fantastic having a diesel you have so much pick up that when I first took off I was thrown back in my seat my words were WOW!!! The handling is just perfect so easy to drive and noise well there is none so quiet. You have heaps of leg room so if you are tall no problems at all. The interior is so easy to use everything in arms reach so you don’t need to take your eyes off the road, well the heads up display is a god sense all to do with the Car instruments are right in front of you, you have beeps if you change lanes when another car is too close, safest car I have ever driven. In the back seats in the middle you have drink holders and a charge dock for all your and the kids phones and tablets. This car is so reliable one push of the button and you off and away, and the running cost are really good to fill up of diesel at $1.25 a litre is $60 you will get about 700 for that depends how you drive sticking to all speed signs and you will get the best out of your car. I purchased mine from Reynella mazda adelaide, my salesman name is lee just ask for him and he will give you a really good deal oh and don’t for get to mention my name and you will get an extra good deal. Very nice
Comfortable ride - good acceleration - spacious boot- interior a bit too much plastic and plastic chrome - comfy seats - good vision - sun roof creates wind noise when open but maybe that happens with all sun rooves as I have never had one before. Audio system ok but not intuitive

Mazda CX-5 Akera Next Gen 2017 Auto AWD Petrol it just might be the best mid sized SUV around.
The driving experience overall is fantastic, I've averaged around 8.6 litres per 100km over 1500 km of city and country driving, not to bad, but a shame that Mazda didn't do a bit better on economy. It offers enough grunt to pass other vehicles safely and for regular driving but I don't think you could tow much with the Petrol version. ads up display. The seats are reasonably comfortable but the leather is creasing already on the seats and it seems very thin. I love the Soul Red Crystal colour and the car is gorgeous to look at both inside and out. If I was going to offer any advice on looks it would be replace the wheel arch plastic with body colour as it cheapens the look. When doing a hard turn the steeering wheel becomes very heavy as though the power steering isn't working, the only thing I can think of is perhaps it has something to do with the lane assist, my son and I both noticed it when turning at a tight round about.. The car wheels spray a lot of dirt onto the body and rear of the car, probably because the Akera 19" wheels are so large. I had Mazda install the front and rear mud flaps at the 1000km service to stop this but have found they make little if any difference as they are so small, so don't waste your money on them. One thing the sales person didn't know as I did ask about it, is when you are parking and the istop has turned off the engine, if you have your foot on the brake when you push the ignition off button, instead of turning off the car it will restart the engine, so remember to put on the park brake and take your foot off the brake pedal before shutting down the vehicle. The high beam has a delay of several seconds before coming on, which is annoying. I love how the LEDds are interactive and turn off just enough leds to not bother other vehicles while still giving great light ahead. Even on low beam the lights are really good. The voice control of the phone is difficult to use, I found it much easier on my 2009 Mazda 3. This CX-5 is quiet, offers a smooth ride, holds the road well, and has an impressive Bose sound system.There is plenty of leg and head room in all the seats and the cargo area is a good size. My 6'3" son has no problem sitting in the back. I have noticed that after the automatic door lock has activated if you pull over to let a rear passenger out they can't open the door until you unlock your doors from the front, not sure if this is a fixable fault, I will need to look into it.The safety features and extras like Lane assist, emergency break assist, blind spot warning, back window wiper, Sat Nav, and hands free phone operation just to name a few are great. The laser cruise control with stop and go function is amazing, I still put my foot over the break just in case it doesn't slow down with the car in front or stop on it's own but so far so good. The only issue is it does break hard, this could be a lot smoother. The CX-5 offers good visibility all around with the extra height and well designed windows. I like the left hand side and rear camera, it really helps with reversing and parking but I do wish this car had automatic park assist and Apple play. Overall I think this car is the best in its class, I did lots of research and drove lots of other mid size SUV's but I kept coming back to the Next Gen Mazda CX-5. The steering is one of the things that gives the Mazda its unique feel on the road: it is quick and accurate at speed, and while it can weight up a little oddly at times – when you’re braking from speed and turning into an intersection, for example – it is generally very well sorted, and light enough at parking speeds to make easy work of those situations.
