CX-5 KE.II (2015-2016)

Should I buy the GT or the Akera?
Is the extras offered on the Akera worth the extra $$$?

Hi Nightlife. To be honest, they are too costly to me. I only bought the Maxx model and asked them to throw in free reverse sensor, tow bar, alloys and premium mats and that was about it. Also i bought a 2014 model. GT or Akera is just luxury and if you can afford it, its really up to you. Akera and GT obviously has extra safety packages. Hope this helps.

Totally agree with "big boy". If you can afford it, get the diesel, it wins hands down.

I just bought a 2015 Maxx Sport CX-5. Love the car but does anyone else find the reflection of the chrome trim around the aircon vents in the side view mirrors annoying and distracting?

I just bought a New (2016) CX-5 and I have the same reflection of the chrome vent trim off the dash board this could be a Major Problem and could cause an accident with this reflection. In 2014 I was about to purchase a Ford Escape with the same reflection problem I returned the car because of that problem and bought a 2014 CX-5 and that model had no reflection problem and now I ordered the 2016 CX-5 without diving it and today 8-29-15 I took delivery and this car and has the reflection problem as the Ford Escape had what a bummer I will call the dealer on Monday to see what could be dome ( Very Poor Engineering ) did anyone see this problem as I did along with a few others

I just bought a 2016 CX-5 and have the same reflection problem -- with the chrome vent trim and dashboard trim -- that makes it hard to see in the side mirrors. It happens in every kind of weather, rain or shine or cloudy or nighttime. It's really dangerous! I read in one forum that plastidip is a product you can paint on the chrome to remove the shine and that can help. From what I read, that will look like black rubber, which may not be what you want.

Ask the dealer to give you a firm commitment that the battery is a C85 and it has a warranty. The battery seems to be the main problem with the "I stop" failing.

We have the CX5 sports diesel. we only got around 50000km out of the original tyres. Yokahamas I think they were. I have put Coopers on this time so will see how they go.
We have 17" rims so there's plenty of choice.

what is the best extended car warranty insurance? Swann? Allianz?

What is a good paint protection?

1 answer
GWR
GWR

Any warranty that covers all aspects of mechanical and design factors on any vehicle for a period of 3 years or more is a good warranty. One hopes you never have to test the warranty system of any vehicle manufacturer but if you do it needs to be processed with the best in customer service to ensure the customer is satisfied and the response needs to be quick and efficient.
As for Insurance.. my experience is to deal with a reputable well known company...again... until you make a claim you never know how good the service is.
I don't believe in paint protection...I think it is a con...a proper paint finish should last and as most vehicle finishes are clear coat finished for protection what is the point of a paint protector, it is usually a type of polish so........Polish your vehicle regularly, keep the bird droppings off, and likewise with tar splashes. Hope that answers your question.

With the CX-5 is there any particular reason why a temperature gauge is not included in the instrument panel or are Mazda just being stingy?
I cannot believe this is not provided.

I never noticed the missing temperature gauge until after I brought it. It felt strange at first but now I dont miss it at all. My wife has a new Mazda 3 and that doesnt have one either and she never noticed that it was missing until I told her.
When you first start the engine, a blue light appears on the instrument panel indicating the engine is cold and then this disappears when the engine gets to the normal running temperature - usually after a few minutes.
No doubt, the same light will glow red if the engine begins to over heat so in fact, it does indicate the same as if there was a temperature gauge.
I believe a lot of other new vehicles are now not putting temperature gauges in their cars too.

Why is that in 19 reviews almost 6 are embittered with a reputed company product built by Mazda. 6 of 19 cars is almost 30% lemons. Why would I pay top dollar for this car, can anyone tell me after having read the 6 reviews of Terrible and bad.

Well not everyone will be happy with any particular car they buy of course, what you have to ask yourself is that are the reasons given in the terrible or bad reviews worthy of such a bad mark? Personally, I'm very happy with mine and wouldn't buy anything else but a Mazda!

Doc
Doc

More than one in three reviews of the CX-5 are negative or just OK because the car itself is massively over hyped. It should be far better equipped for the price charged and I believe that Mazda is trading on a reputation that is not deserved.

I am planning to buy a CX-5 but the dealership also is offering me to get a Fusion Vehicle Protection for $2000.00. Is it worth it to get additional vehicle protection?

3 answers
Gary L F
Gary L F

When I bought my CX-5 they offered me a few different packages, yes it is expensive. In saying that I just got the smallest package which included paint protection and window tinting. I wouldn't buy a car without paint protection now. It's really up to the individual.

Doc
Doc

The paint protection packages sold at dealerships are a complete rip off. Most of them are just a polymer coating that ages over time and in most ways is nothing other than a hyped up wax.
There are one or two excellent paint protection applications which are available through professional car detailers. Not only are they effective and durable over the life of the car but they also cost about $400 instead of the $2K plus that dealers try to sell to unknowing buyers.
Please avoid any paint protection product offered at ANY car dealership

I worked in a dealer (toyota) and they charged $2100 for Paint, Interior and Tint.. cost to dealer $495.00.. HAGGLE and never pay more than $750 for the lot (a fair mark up in my opinion) OR get the work done yourself within a week of getting the car.. Outside companies charge around 300-400 for Paint and Int and tint is around 200 for a car. Dealer costs are lower cause they usually do it in house.

My fuel consumption different to the fuel consumption label? (Approx: 620-650 km/tank(city) and 700-750 km/tank (freeway).

I'm still watching the fuel consumption, which so far is a fair way from that claimed by Mazda. However, I've driven diesels previously and they always loosen up after a few thousand kilometres. I remain confident that the CX5 engine will be no different to other engines. However, to answer your question, I'm getting around 700 - 750 per tank, but this includes both city and highway driving.

Ron
Ron

You are right, I am getting pretty much the same figure as you do 650 - 750km per Full Tank. I have tried different fuel stations but the results are pretty much the same. I don't think the car can do better than 7.0l/100km on average even on perfect road over a long distance, which is very disappointing when compared with the claimed figure by Mazda!

Bruno
Bruno

As I understand it, the figures printed on the windscreen of the vehicle is NOT provided by Mazda but rather by an independent (semi-government, I was informed) tester. The testers place the vehicle in a climate controlled environment, on rollers, and calculate the absolute minimum consumption they can achieve under such circumstances. Hardly 'real world' and Mazda do not support these claims; but nor do they refute them unless you specifically ask.

When is the new 2.5 lt coming out on the Mazda CX-5?

2 answers

Supposed to be this year sometime - but after we've been around the hills on the north shore (spit road, the back way out of waringah mall) you definitely won't need the extra 0.5, and won't rev your engine high enough to feel the extra 10kw

Sorry. Don't know. Mine is petrol. No problems.

I think cx5 price of 33.5k is good value. If I paid more then I would have a lot more other options and probably not go for cx5.

2012 best car awards should be out about this time.

Hi mine is petrol and i havent heard about diesel issues. I have done 14k on my cx5 and no problems at all so far. At the dealership where i purchased it they offer 2 years extra warranty if you service it with them, so 5 years warranty is a real piece of mind, you cant get that with VW! I looked at Tiguan too, but having VW before chose CX5, service and running costs of VW are much higher and vw is really plain, if you want anything extra, gotta pay a fortune, sat nav VW is 3k when in mazda it comes standard on mid range! I recently had a 10k service for cx5, it was $279 with a loan car, i couldnt believe how cheap it was, i had a golf for last 4 years and always had to pay around 1k for service, not to mention 2.5k 60,000 kms service. Also i drive 600-700kms per week and did a calc on petrol vs diesel, it was not worth it, for diesel you generally have to pay 5k extra vs petrol version upfront and it will take you many many years to get this money back in fuel savings. Sorry this does answer your question but hope it helps.
