It's hard to go past Michelin

published

I recently traded my Mitsubishi 380 VRX. In 2015 I put 4 Pilot Sport 3 on the vehicle. At the time of trade in I had done just over 30,000 klms on them and would have estimated at least another 25,000k left if the wear indicators were any guide. Quiet, durable and a great performance tyre. They handled all conditions well but were particularly good in the wet. Prior to the Michelins I had Pirelli P7's on the vehicle and they too were very good but the Pilot Sport 3's just that little bit better. Highly recommended.

Awesome tyre!

published

I've had these fitted almost 12 months ago on a Subaru WRX 2007,
They have been the best tyre I've had fitted to date and reasonably priced!
They have phenomenal grip in the wet and dry, even under hard acceleration they have never slipped (only squealed).
Tyre wear so far has shown great durability for a performance tyre although care was taken to regularly rotate them.
Road noise was on par with my previous Goodyear F1 Directional tyres but that's possibly more to do with owning a Subaru itself.
The confidence it inspires is more then enough for the street and would definitely buy again or the new PS4s.

Great grip and low road noise

published

Had these fitted to my BMW 130i for the last 8 months and I've been impressed how well the have handled my abuse of them powering out of corners, great tyre for wet weather as well although i'm a bit dubious to switch off the traction control to really test how grippy the are!
Road noise is no different from my previous Goodyear Eagles so I would certainly recommend them.

Great tyres, great wear and performance

I put Michelin Pilot Sport 3 on my R36 Wagon when the factory Contis Sport Contact Self seal type were gone.
These Michelin Pilot Sport 3 are so better that the Contis Sport Contact, the handling of the car was much improved the the wear is better. Will stick to Michelin Pilot Sport and I will get Michelin Pilot Sport 4 when I need new tyres.

Perfect tyres but poor durability

published

Great handling on wet and dry. Very sporty feel. Comfort level 4/5. Not noisy. Overall i am very happy this tyre. Biggest problem is they lasted only for 20k.so not durable. I had to replace with pilot sport 4 and hoping that will last longer. I highly recommenc this tyre if you dont care about replacing early.

Brilliant

This is a brilliant tyre!
It's great in both the dry and wet which is what i was after.
Not noisy at all.
Handling and road feel is excellent
Can't comment on the tread wear as i've only had these on a few months.

Couldn't be happier with my choice of tyre.

good quality

After one year driving on new Michelins I can say they are excellent. They do not wear out quickly as do many cheaper tyre brands .The tread is not as deep as I thought would be . But they hug the road in very wet weather . Also they are not noisy in fact they are quiet . Which is contrary to what the Honda service person said they would be .

World class tyres....pretty much perfect...worth every cent.

These tyres will be the only tyre I will ever buy again.

Amazing grip and ride.Tyre noise level excellent. Michelin are onto an amazing thing here. The benchmark has been set. Would highly recommend this tyre to anyone in the market for a perfect allrounder with a touch of performance.

won't buy anything else

Originally my BMW e39 came with pilot sports 2 I have never had a tyre so outstanding great grip very quiet and lasted me 6 years and 60k the only reason I changed them was because they where too old and cracking! So I bought pilot sports 3, 6 years again same car some klms and still heaps of tread but due to getting old must be replaced but this time I'm going for the pilot 4, damn good tyres never let me down in any of my 3 cars best buy!!

Noisy tyre

published

Great handling and good for some 40,000 km but noisy.
It is a shame because I like this tyre for it's fairly good grip in the wet and solid cornering. Unfortunately it is a little nosy for me at low speeds and up to 60 km. Above that speed the noise tends to reduce.
I will try another tyre this time round and will opt for the Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional5.

Great tyre - Quiet with great roadholding

published

After much consideration I fitted Michelin Pilot 3 replacing the Bridgestone Potenza RE50A that were on the car. I found the Bridgestone tyres hard riding especially on the 19" rims the car sits on.

Looked at all other tyres as I wanted a tyre that was comfortable in ride but also quiet plus all the other things like grip, wet and dry performance so somewhere there has to be a compromise

So far the tyres are great with good grip and the ride has improved significantly over the Bridgestone tyres. I have also notice a slight increase in fuel economy but will update later after a long trip.

The Best tyre available

I have a 2002 VW Golf GTi, I do approx 30,000Km a year commuting to work plus more on inter island trips.
I have run 2 sets of pilot sport 2's and a set of pilot sport 3's. the PS 2's returned just under 50,000 Km a set but I added another 10,000 km's with the the PS 3's.
I have run them down to the warning strips & they are still quiet and the grip never fails as a golf will 3 wheel under pressure.
As far as I am concerned you can't go past excellence.

I've got a Ford XR6 - (245/40 18R 97Y) Need to replace my Pirelli P1 (worn out). Was going for the Pirelli P7 ($279) but have been told that the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 is as good - possibly even quieter & cheaper per tyre ($214). I do country miles & odd dirt rd. Any experience or ideas which way I should go? V V

Hi Val, I would strongly advise you to not to go with Michelin. My rear Michelin Pilot Sport' tyres wore down to canvas in less than 2years (-40,000km's). I do similar driving to you in a Camry front wheel drive; so it totally didn't make sense, except these are a bad quality tyre. I requested replacement from supplier, who put me onto Michelin State Manager, he was dismissive and refused replacement. I would never ever buy Michelin Tyres again, these tyres where poor quality and unsafe. Perhaps talk to your mechanic for a recommendation, and spend the extra $ as obviously quality tyres are very important :-)

I am looking at a set of pilot sport 3 tyres for my car. My local tyre shop has asked which type I want? He said they offer an st and a dt version (in Australia) does anyone know the difference between the two. There is a $40 difference between them per tyre.

I know ST stands for Slient Technology, not sure what DT stands for. I was not offered options, I got the ST version.

Now PS3 has successor PS4 now, should be he same price!

Cobrin

DT Different Tread Design (slight changes in designed pattern)
DT1 New pattern

and the ST in the tyres title stands for Silence Tuned.
